Title. And also, what do you not fear that most people do?

Mine are:

- Snakes

If I see one, I run and scream like a little girl.

- Nuclear War

Radiation is a killer, man.

- Hypoxia (Dying by lack of oxygen)

To me, this seems like the worst way someone could die.

I am not afraid of roller coasters. I once rode The Voyage at Holiday World (longest wooden roller coaster in the world) SIX times in one day.
 
- Something happening to my partner that I couldn't help.

- Becoming a burden on other people in my old age, through dementia or a physical illness. I'd rather die than have that.

- Vertigo. Not just a fear of heights, but also if I'm in a room that has a high ceiling, I get stuck and can't move. My legs freeze and I feel sick.
 
- Cockroaches and other insects with long legs/antennas. Ugh... when I see one, I just.. eeeeehh.. noooo.

- I too, have vertigo like DG_Silva. High ceilings make me feel dizzy. I can barely climb a step-ladder. I've done it, but very slowly. If I need to go into the attic I go up very, very slowly. However, I'm not afraid of heights when I know I'm safe, for example, if I'm wearing a harness or something. I can climb ladders faster if someone is holding on to it, but I still get a bit dizzy.

- I'm also afraid of losing my car. Either it being stolen, written off etc. I get paranoid all the time. Sometimes if the car is parked outside and I'm in the living room, I'll keep looking outside. If I'm staying in a hotel, I need it to be parked somewhere I can see it from the hotel window. If I go to a fast food restaurant such as McDonalds where the car park can be seen from inside, I need to sit somewhere I can see the car. If we lost it I'd be absoloutely beside myself. I wouldn't know what to do - and I'd probably cry. Yes, I know, that's a bit too far... but we've had it for nearly 10 years now! :lol: Holds a lot of sentimental value to me.

I have a grandmother with dementia. I love her to death, don't feel bad about that...people know you mean well.
 
- I am deathly afraid to drive. I think that I would not careful enough, and that I would get in a horrible crash. In fact, I have never sat behind the wheel.

- Vertigo. Usually when I go to a place that has high ceilings or a walkway that is not supported from the bottom and at least one side, I get a little dizzy and have to pull off to the side and crouch to get the feeling to pass.

- Being alone again. I've had a really horrid social life in the past, and now that I have friends, I am afraid that one day, I will lose them.
 
- Heights, primarily connected with vertigo and fear of falling from said heights. It's weird, considering I love skyscrapers and other high things. So, to enjoy them, I just drug myself up on Dramamine (motion sickness medicine, which I need) and I'm good.
- Darkness, mainly due to trauma in my very early childhood from an eye surgery (couldn't see afterwards). Being alone in a house or something for extended periods of time generally doesn't do anything good for me either.
- I generally shy away from high velocity objects with a possibility of hitting me in the eyes, such as thrown baseballs/footballs/etc. and swung objects like clubs/bats/etc., due mainly to being hit in the eye with a golf club as a child. I was incredibly uncomfortable whenever we played baseball in grade school gym class and I was near the person swinging the bat. Uncomfortable enough to classify it as a fear.

I am not afraid of clowns, and it frankly baffles me as to why any sane person would be afraid of them. I've been told it's because of an old horror movie featuring clowns.
 
Dying. Living alone. Drowning. Why are these my biggest fears? Well, because death is inevitable, never know when it could happen, that's why I try to be the best I can be everyday. Living alone will be tough for me, because I'm a person that likes to have company, when I'm by myself, it's just not enjoyable. Why am I afraid of drowning? Well, I can't swim, and I live less than 5 miles of water. I couldn't swim if my life depended on it. I could float, but I can't swim.
 
I have the same fears as quite a lot of people:

-Spiders
I hate the things, the small ones aren't too bad but if they are bigger than a 5 pence piece I am petrified. I get so paranoid after I see one and it crawls under a sofa or something.

-Death
Either me dying or someone/something I love dying. Sometimes I lie in bed thinking about it and I can't get to sleep for hours.

-And lastly deep water
I went swimming down at a river a week or two ago and whenever I couldn't touch the bottom I panicked. I think it all started when I nearly drowned 10 years ago at a local swimming pool. I can't tread water that well, and I've never been that strong a swimmer. I keep meaning to make myself practice and get better but it never happens.

As for stuff loads of people fear that I don't, well snakes are one. My mum and one of my friends hate them, but I don't see why.
Also heights, I do go a bit wobbly kneed when looking down from a really great height but that's about it.
 
Insects - All kinds of them, but mostly roaches, centipedes, etc.

Skeletons - Always terrify me, whether it's real or if it's fake. I don't know why.

Sociability - I can never meet people by myself, nor do I have the guts to.

I was caught in a riptide several years ago...very scary feeling, my friend.
 
-Anything that doesn't look like it wants to hug me, like snakes, scorpions, or that big spider you pissed off while trying to kill it by throwing your shoe at it but got away.

-Nuclear war - the Einstein quote "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones" comes to mind.

-Anything happening to my family or closest friends when I'm not around to help. I can't help but wonder if the most recent time I said goodbye to someone I love was also the last time I would ever see them again? I think my family losing our first dog when I was on the other side of the country as a kid was kind of the thing that got me worrying about that. He was a damn good dog, too.

3. Seeing my loved ones pass away. Whenever I think about that my throat closes up and I feel terrible. I'm not afraid of dying, I'm just afraid of seeing people I love on their final breaths.


On a lighter note I've been known to handle pain from bee stings rather well. We had a wasp nest on our front porch about ten years ago and I took a can of wd40 spray with a lighter and went on all out holy war. I 🤬 hate wasps. Honey bees are bros though.

Luckily it doesn't run in the family, but with me being the last in line for my family name, I need to have several boys at some point in my life. So another fear is not being able to concieve, be it me or my future wife being infertile. Might be wierd but I have no reason as to why I would be. Due to underlying health issues it needs to be relatively soon however.

At the age of 4, I had watched most of the Scream movies in one night. Had a bad storm that night, lightning flashed enough to see my dad hovering over me with the trademark cloak and mask....Not fun. To this day at 17 I will not sleep without some kind of night light, enough that I can see my room clearly.

1- Running out of duct tape.
I use duct tape for everything (because I am American and if it can't be fixed with duct tape, it's impossible to fix) I always have 20+ rolls available in case I need them.

2- Society
Society is ruining itself. Younger and younger generations are doing worse and worse things (sex, drugs, etc) I am afraid of what the future holds when the next generations are running society.

3- Myself
I've lived a very rough mental life. That's all that needs to be said about that.

I'm not usually scared of stuff, but here we go:

1 - Not Making it to Formula 1

This has been my ultimate dream in life, and if I don't achieve it, it'll drive me mad :ouch: .

2 - Death

Well, pretty much everyone doesn't want to die, right?

3 - Bees/Wasps

Not my biggest fear, but I put it here because I pretty much encounter one every day. Good thing I have pesticide handy most of the time.

Ah, interesting. I will only sleep if I leave the TV on, thus illuminating the whole damn room. Or with the radio on, whilst the LED's in my computer bathe the area in a deep blue. But I wouldn't say I'm afraid of the dark... though as a wee lad I refused to go into the basement, which had no lights. But I have come to realise it has more with the sound of silence... I cannot stand absolute quietness.

Other than that, can't say there is anything else. Perhaps the prospect of not having books in the future, as in going all digital. I see Amazon already outsells e-books to paper which does genuinely frighten me I suppose.

Same, the annoying ringing in your eyes drives me insane. For me, I like to be able to see whats around me. Its gotten better over the years but I still don't like it.

Another is Thunderstorms. I hate the sudden and often unexpected BOOOOOOM. Especially at night. :scared:
 
1.Dont like the dark especialy when i saw the movie Evil dead and The Exorcist a few years ago. I always feel when walking in the dark that somebody is behind me and in other occasions somebody os watching me!

A room which has a dim light in the corner is way scarier than a pitch black room, in my opinion.

I'm not saying that others should feel the same way as I do, and I apologise if I offended you, but I hate the idea of someone living just to keep me going (more particularly a physical illness than a mental illness). I had a cousin who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis, and seeing him towards the end having a person either side of him just so he could walk broke my heart. I never want to end up like that.
 
1 - Opening the fridge and finding there's no beer.

2 - Snakes, big spiders, centipedes, scorpions, etc.

3 - Losing my job.
 
1. Waking up in the morning finding I'm married to Rosie O'Donnell.

2. Waking up to find I'm having sex with Rosie O'Donnell.

3. Waking up in the emergency room after suffering a near-fatal heart attack after waking up after either 1. or 2.
 
1. Bees and wasps. Even a single one can give me a panic attack. I don't even want to imagine myself running into a swarm of them.

2. Big dogs. I always make sure I can keep my distance from them. The thought of one jumping at me is worse than death.

3. Drowning. Can't swim, so deep water = death.

1. Scorpions - I've said it before and I'll say it again; what in evolutions name gets armour plating and a weapon on both ends!!! I couldn't even step on one to kill it.

2. Anything going down my urethra - obviously I have to pee but I've a dreaded fear of anything going into it or anything large coming out.

3. My illness - I'm sure most of you know the details. Fact is, it's difficult being scared of myself.
