Well in Texas it varies actually. 70mph is rarely seen in most big cities, infact the 635/LBJ that we speak of the speed limit is actually a putrid 55mph on most of it. I35E & I35W along with SH75 are 60mph until you get out of DFW either north or south. Same with I40, I30, and I20. The only speed limit that was actually 80mph that I have ever seen in person is in Oklahoma on one of those turn pikes.

It's all 55 on Long Island. Its rediculous. Most of the time the flow of traffic is at 70.
 
In Michigan, 70 MPH is recommended in most places, but rarely enforced. Get outside of Grand Rapids between Lansing, and furthermore, the space between Lansing and Detroit, speeds regularly are set at 80+ MPH (we've traveled as fast at 90 MPH for long distances). Not legally of course, but its the rate at which traffic moves these days...

In the Atlanta area the speed limit is 55 and traffic routinely moves at 80 to 90mph. Police will not ticket below 75, because there's no need, since someone will be along doing 90 and over if they wait a minute. I like to camp out at 80mph in a middle lane and count the cars that fly by me on the left.

A few weeks ago I was doing a good clip in the left lane of a local interstate and got passed by an E46 3-series. I began following - when I hit 115 he was still pulling away. I gave up.

This is made all the more ridiculous by the fact that Atlanta has, according to this article the second-worst traffic in America, and according to the newest issue of TIME, has the very worst traffic in America, tied with Los Angeles.

It is quite the same in Miami as well, as I know I was certainly surprised on my first travel there back in 2004. The most-recent trip however was far less surprising, but the ol' Michigan roots tend to kick in at various times to tell you to slow down when it is completely unnecessary.

It may be interesting to note that 90 MPH feels far less-safe in a convertible Chrysler Sebring than it does in a Lincoln Towncar, however, they clearly are for different purposes.

That is one thing that I love about luxury sedans, always good for traveling at high rates of speed relatively comfortable. Then again, spend a few extra bucks in any class of car, and you're bound to find something better. Thats why VW lead the class for so long, benchmarks for all with the Golf and such.

I'd love to have the CTS at 90 MPH through Miami, it would be fun, but it would likely look a lot better through SoBe at night... Preferably in black with the chrome and the lighter colored interior.
 
Okay. I want to see a picture of a turn signal stalk from a Trailblazer. Then a stalk from a CTS. Then I'll stop moaning about it.
Fuel + Fire: The turn signal stalk appears to be the same one used in the Chevy Colorado, which was in turn used in the S-10/Astro and therefore at least dates back to the 1980's.
 
It did. But my Blazer has the exact same stalk. And it wasn't redesigned in between 1983 and 1994, so I'd venture to guess the stalk is at least 24 years old.
 
I'm still not certain why we're upset over one stalk. Furthermore, the CTS (as I recall) uses the "ZOMG thats brilliant!" setup of two stalks (unlike previous GM vehicles) with the indicators on the left and the wipers on the right. That, I would assume, means they "stole" stalks out of the other Cadillac vehicles that had been using these bits for a while now. Sure, they may look and feel somewhat similar to other bits in other vehicles, but I still find it silly to be upset over a few switches.

The interior, overall, its about 98% unique as far as I could tell.
 
As offtopic as this is post is, I still feel the need to reply. Thanks for the link, that's actually quite awsome. I didn't know that most of those states had an 80mph limit somewhere.

All of those green states (Nevada, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona) have 75mph speed limits - only the western part of Texas has the 80mph limit.
