Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Trans-Am

Players will find a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is becoming available over the next few hours, as their local time hits midnight on Thursday evening.

The new set of five challenges will run over the next week, and — unusually — will take place exclusively at track venues in the USA. That includes a brand-new Special Event which will only run during this window, disappearing once the next set of events becomes available next week.

Once again the Plymouth Superbird is the star of the show for the one-off race. You’ll be taking the bewinged behemoth to the Watkins Glen Long Course for a three-lap, one-make race. It’s worth 70,000cr if you can take the victory, and the car can be in any state of tune you like — including swapping the engine for a Hellcat motor. The money won’t offset the cost, but if you already have one swapped (or a ticket for the engine) you may as well…

You’ll head over to the fictional Blue Moon Bay location for this week’s lowest payout, and least effort. It’s an American FR Challenge 550 race around the tri-oval, with the three laps worth 10,000cr for victory. As the name suggests, you’ll need a front-engined, rear-wheel drive Road Car from any US brand, but the 550PP (Performance Point) indicated is only a suggestion. Feel free to go nuts; you can even use the Superbird again!

That’s not going to be possible in the next race, which is specifically restricted to one of two pickup trucks: the Ford F150 Raptor and the Toyota Tundra. You’ll need to equip your choice of truck with Dirt Tires for a three-lap run around Colorado Springs Lake in the Pickup Challenge, with all other tuning left up to you. There’s 30,000cr on the table for the win.

Another rally challenge awaits next, but this one takes place on the asphalt of Willow Springs Big Willow. You can only use a Gr.B category car equipped with Racing Tires for this ten-lap race in the World Rally Challenge, but it’s a pretty rapid race and there’s a 65,000cr prize for taking first place.

That leaves this week’s big-money event, in the Super Formula series. You’ll need to unlock this event — by reaching Collector Level 31 and starting the Super Formula Menu Book — in order to access it. Naturally you’re limited to either of the two SF19 or SF23 models, with Racing Tires required.

It’s a 15-lap race at Road Atlanta, and the relatively high tire wear will mean a pit stop is likely. Beware the difficult pit entry, and also make sure you have a button mapped for the Overtake boost feature on these cars. This is a rather tricky race too, but you do only need to finish third to clear it. If you can win, there’s 160,000cr waiting for you.

The rewards for this week’s events are exclusively credit tickets. You’ll earn a 100,000cr ticket for clearing one event, a 200,000cr ticket for completing three, and a 500,000cr ticket for the clean sweep. Do note that these are not straight credit rewards: the tickets will need to be redeemed from the Gifts section of your garage.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday May 24.
