Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Supra Man

A brand-new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is beginning to land on consoles around the world, with Friday morning in your local timezone marking the changeover.

Weekly Challenges are a set of five events, updating at midnight on Friday each week, that award bonus prizes for completion. You’ll find them in a special green box in “World Circuits”, with four of the races using existing events and a fifth, temporary “Special Event” that’s created just for the week’s racing.

There’s no particularly high- or low-value race this week, but the average remains about the same with the possibility of collecting around 1.3m credits for your week’s work. That begins with one of the newest races in the game, the European Sunday Cup 400 at Watkins Glen Short as added in 1.60. You can use any road car from a European brand (at ~400PP if you want a fair fight, but it’s not required) for the three-lap race that awards 38,000cr.

Our next event is a short hop down the east side of the US, with Road Atlanta hosting a round in the Race of Turbo Sportscars. As the name suggests, you’ll need a turbocharged car for this — but there’s also a 700PP limit, though it doesn’t matter how you get there. It’s a five-lap race with 63,000cr on offer for victory.

Tokyo Expressway Central Clockwise is the next venue, for a round of the World Rally Challenge Gr.B. Naturally it’s an asphalt event, requiring Racing Tires and a Gr.B car to take part — like the new Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car. Watch out for high tire wear and fuel consumption in this ten-lap race for a 65,000cr winner’s prize.

This week’s Special Event is the next most lucrative, offering 80,000cr for victory. It’s a “one-make” for the Toyota Supra in any road car form — the A70, A80, or either GR Supra — and in any state of tune, over five laps of Fuji International Speedway. While recent one-make specials have been fine in standard cars, you’ll need to make some tweaks here as the lead AI car is pretty rapid and has a 15-second lead you need to erode…

Finally we finish up with a World Touring Car event, as is often the case. For this week it’s a WTC700 event, which presents you with a 700PP cap and a Racing Tire requirement but is otherwise open to whatever car you want to try. You’ll be facing Gr.4 AI rivals, and there’s pretty steep tire wear and fuel consumption — but no weather — in this ten-lap race of Brands Hatch GP. Winning the race earns you 110,000cr.

For this week the rewards switch back to credit tickets, which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts section to add the money to your wallet. As is ever the case, completing any one event awards a 100,000cr ticket, finishing any three presents you with a 200,000cr ticket, and clearing the full set gifts a 500,000cr ticket.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday July 18.
