Golded third try with a Total time of 7:56.9xx and was gifted the 2J race car, [bleep] yeah!
Lucky you!

I drove a dump truck through Laguna Seca and all I got was a lousy Furai. :grumpy:

(Which I already have and can't sell) :banghead:

Can I just quickly as why? Is it to try and get 50/50 weight distribution?

It's just an easy way to force oversteer into a car.
Some call it a glitch, but that's neither here nor there.
Either way, the nose in the air, with the ass on the ground will make the car oversteer. So on a car that plows like the WRX, you can understand why he did it.

Cheers. I was reading Scaff's tuning guide and he talks about decreasing front ride height and increasing rear ride height to combat under-steer. Suppose the +20,-20 is a extreme situation which would cause alot of instability under braking.

thanks guys posting yours setting... now i've beaten it..

Be careful, as what you(Scaff) has described is the exact opposite of what I have. I'm not sure if it was a typo on your part, but regardless...

NOTE: Use a Mid Range RPM Turbo as it gives better results coming out of the corners.....

Best lap time was a 1:34:5xx Using a DS3 controller

This won if for me. Upgrade everything on the engine, but as he says use a mid turbo. Limit it down to just below the horsepower limit.
The first corner is tricky, and you may think it doesn't turn, but brake earlier than usual, and if you think your going wide, lift off the throttle.
First lap did a 1.37.5, then after that ran mid 1.35s and overtook at last corner. Excellent set up, just gotta learn how to drive it

mmpotroast
I can only change the differential to a maximum of 35-65. Where is the 10-90 coming from?

I have this too! Anyone shed any light on it? I have bought all drive train upgrades I believe!?

Yeah I golded it last night !!!!
0.015 was the gap to #2
woot.gif

(That was my reaction xDD)

Tip from myself: Brake at the "3"-markers (brake at "4" at first Turn). If you do so you can "roll" through the Turn and floor the accelerator a bit after the apex.
=> less understeer (because if you touch the accelerator during the turn you get the FF-understeer you probably don´t want)

Some Corner speed tips (approximations => some are faster/slower doable (1-2kph)):
1. Turn: 75kph
2. Turn: 101kph
3. Turn: 122kph
4. Turn: 106kph
5. Turn: 130kph
Cork-chicane: 78kph (if you cut it at 85-90 kph you would win not so close)
8. Turn: 125kph
9. Turn: 120kph
Final Turn: 64kph

Torque Diff: 18-82 => a bit more oversteer at corner exit (but totally controllable)

My mods:
Enigne 1+2+3
Weight reduction 1+2+3
(maybe some other power mods to go upto 300kw => power limiter to 294kw)
FC Suspension (I post those settings if somebody wants them ;) Everybody has his preferences => don´t be so harsh with mine xD)
FC Tranny (236kph topspeed)
and the other mods that don´t influence power/weight

==> first lap 1:36.8xx and after that 1:35.6xx (plus/minus 0.2 seconds)

I have saved the replay because it was so close.
If I had lost my DS3 would have been broke.

The fastest laps were 1'34,xxx, the overall finishing time was 7'55,0xx and I overtook the leading GT-R in the braking for the Corkscrew. The power figures are for a fully broken in engine (I think) - adjust accordingly for your engine. It's not a nice car to drive as it's a "quick'n dirty" setup and there's no grip to be found for most of the time thanks to the tyres but it got the job done for me.

Best setup for me, cheers :D Was still hard though with my driving talent not that good

Greycaps tune worked for me too, in my winning race, 3rd attempt, I passed the R34 on the last right hander before the finish, no need to ram it at all I just outbraked and sailed by him once you get the feel of the car its quite predictable and the above tune did dial out a lot of the dead horse that seemed to be attatched to the front bumper, still, after golding this i dont ever want to have to drive that subaru again, not enjoyable and quite hard work.

I know i could have gone faster with that tune aswell as i made a few mistakes and 2 or 3 of the laps were a bit ragged. My best lap was down in the 1.33 my worst lap was a high 1.37, 1 was 1.35 and the other 2 were 1.36's, didnt take note of the hundredths.

so with averages if you can get steady 1.35s you should be able to get this one easy

I noticed that with this tune if your car is understeering letting off and giving the throttle and quick one tap then fully pressing the throttle again jerked the front end in.

And (first rule of braking i know but some cars will repsond to brakes while turning too) do all your braking in a straight line, if you corner brake in this car youll wash straight out of the back of the turn

Also the max my centre diff would allow was 35/65 split, no higher than that??

if you want to make it easier, just fully tune the car to max bhp, then use engine reduction down to 395 bhp or whatever it is. and you'll still keep the extra torque.

Tried the Subaru @ Laguna last night ( haven't tried the other 2 yet ), took gold on 2nd attempt by passing final car just before entering the corkscrew. Fastest lap was a 1:33.6xx. Looking forward to the other two events now! I use my own tunes, which I can't remember every setting but I never do things as radical as jacking the front ride height and lowering the rear or vise versa to correct under or over steering. Thanx PD for the new events!

Yeah I got gold on all of em. Took a bit of time but it's not too bad, just make sure your car is at the peak requirements (well on the last one my car was 1kg higher) and make sure you learn the course and you'll get it.

just managed a gold after about 10 attempts using this tune. I played dirty, and am uploading a video as we speak. I'll share it later..

You must have just done weight reduction then. It makes the car handle better if you do every weight reduction there is then ballast the car back up to requirement, then position the ballast for best possible weight distribution.

I think this technique is a big help I these races

Sometime in the 3rd lap of this event I had a sudden epiphany.

I have always hated this track. I have always hated this car. Why am I doing this?

Done.

Edit: Its just that I am currently so close to golding and trying to tweak my tuning to get that last .5 second a lap!!

Quite simply to force oversteer and dumb down the ridiculous understeer aspect of the WRX. Also to make the car fun to drive and not just a grind. The first corner after the start line, I drift that entire portion when I get bored in the race. Also same goes for the first turn after the corkscrew, drift the whole thing, heh. At most you'll loose a few tenths too so it's not too bad. By radically jacking up the front and back I think I've achieved a controllable, balanced ride. You might think that this is a drift setup and it simply isn't. What it does it allow the back end to slide out and dumb down the understeer. If you want it to slide, it will slide. If you want it composed and controlled, it does that too.

Have you tried using my exact setup? Also, if you want to go fast, brake early for the corners. Slow in, Fast out. Might seem slow when you're doing it, but trust me, it works.

Best lap time was a 1:34:5xx Using a DS3 controller

I just tried this setup as I was struggling to catch first place, my lap times went from low 1:35's to mid 1:37's and I found the car struggled to make any turns at all :scared:

I used ugabugaz tune. I changed the torque distrubution to 45 65 though and ended up running 1.34 xxx on the ds3 controller.

Give my setup a try. I would love some feedback.

Edit: Glad I helped you out Samer. It's great you made the tune fit your driving style.

Just got Gold used RotaryJunky Set-up only difference used a low rpm turbo, full downforce, 143mph top speed. and had to hit the skyline in the side at the last corner sorry no clean way to pass.

I used OSE_CAP_SHADOW's exact tune and passed the purple skyline on the next to last corner. I only ran a mid 1:34 and a high 1:34, two 1:35's, and a 1:36. It was so satisfying t-boning that skyline hahaha.

here's my "cheat, just to get it done" attempt. I used greycap's tune, it worked a treat.

My corner exit speeds are higher, my driving is more tidy and I can't even get 4th.
I might have to switch tunes. Your car picks up much nicer than mine.

The tune is for a wheel, and I'm on a controller... Honestly I hate to speak ill of an sti but I hate this car. Lol

got the gold with ds3 and its not so difficult, this car is bad, lots of understeer entering in corners and some oversteer too. the secret is: be clean, to avoid the awful understeer you need to brake gently, leave the throttle instead of breake in the turn 4 without changing gear, a little trick to make the car steer well is to increase the rear brakes and make the rear very rigid. my best lap was 1:34.00 and a i got the chaparral 2J 67, what a prize car!

You should be getting around 1:34.4-6 per lap except the first (mine was 1:36.8).
Make sure you pass the old Supra on the second turn.
Pass the Nissan Z32 before the corkscrew
Pass the old Skyline before it reaches the last turn, or even better; pass it on the second to last turn.
Pass the Supra a few seconds after the last turn
Pass the two cars (can't remember one of them, but the other is a 3000gt) on the first U-turn
If you drive well, you should pass the first place car on the corkscrew.

Throttling is key with this setup. Brake generously on the turns and don't mash the throttle down until your 100% sure that the car wont go in the sand.
Drive Somewhat rough.
On the left turn after the corkscrew don't brake late because you will slide on the far side of the road. Brake early and stay on the left the whole turn.
Find the most beneficial racing line and stick to it the whole race, and use as much of the road as possible (including the curbs).
Good luck!
