Thanks for the verifications. After the race last night I think I could have dropped half a second pretty easily. I suppose that is why I'm D5! I'm still learning.

As an aside, the other folks in D5 should try the online races. It was a lot of fun, but I could use some guys to race with! Couldn't keep in touch with the leaders after a (few?) lap(s).

Just tryed to check Porshe and Allibubba's but couldn't import them to GT5, I guess because they are NTSC.

+1. We'd love to see more participation from D5!

One problem though... If you stick with the TT and online races for a bit you'll find yourself in D4 before long so we tend to have a perpetual deficit of D5 drivers.

I would not say that it gave me the nerve, I was still pretty anxious my first time on track.

But it gave me the experience and confidence to know what to do, and to do it reasonably well, if you consider the amount of on track experience I had before jumping the race car was ZERO. Those were things like managing braking points, turn in, apexes, car control (correcting slides, etc.), knowing how to behave in traffic, and focusing over a long time frame.

I have no doubts that it can actually help adjust to real world situations. I understand pros use systems similar to learn tracks they have never been to.

What he said. If you think someone has it turned on because they are cornering well beyond what you think should be the limits, refer it to one of the admins and let them check it out. I think it is well beyond us laymen to be able to tell if it's on or not. At least I haven't been able to tell. But rest assured, as the rules state:

"No cheating of any kind,these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done,and we can read your mind.We will know."

So they can tell.

Incidentally, I read a (yet another) post about a race driver's take. He wound up talking about how iRacing was pretty good from a physics and racing/race craft sense, but still required unrealistic "alien" setups to be fast

We do have means of checking for SRF, but we choose not to share it publicly, for fear a cheater could use that knowledge nd exploit it.
