Ok guys, leaderboards updated! Next challenge is the WRXs at Twin Ring Motegi East Short Course / Forward. Good luck!

Also, the majority of competitors at this point have voted yes, so I'll add the penalty system to the rules.

Hi guys ! I ran a 5 laps test with each car and here are my times :

Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi Version (Type-I) '00 : 1'42.753
Subaru Impreza Super Touring Car : 1'23.711

The Tourning Car is great !!! I think once you know her, great times could be done ! The WRX is more difficult to handle... I have no idea of what would be the best times... I would say at least -cause I am not a big fan of Motegi Circuit- 2 seconds faster than mine...

What about you guys ?

Have a nice day !

I ran two laps with each car last night - the first one I always go off the course; the second one I try to run clean.

1'23.xxx for the stock

1'43.xxx for the race

Thanks guys ! I ran few laps with the stock car before going to bed :

stock : 1'41.684

but still too shy with it because it is really easy to go off the tarmac. But when you've got the right speed and angle, it is fast, consequently it is easy to lose precious time with only one mistake...

Good luck !

stock : 1'40.645 and then a slightly unclean 1'40.347.

I can see PiTch_ at least in the 1'39.xxx...

By the way Detroitbb, you scared me with your stock lap time : "1.23.xxx" ! ;)

My update :

Stock : 1'40.584
Race : 1'22.465

Total : 3'03.049

I said that "The Tourning Car is great !!! I think once you know her, great times could be done !" Well, I am in big trouble because she doesn't want me to get to know her... Most of my laps were in the 1'23.xxx. Whereas I thought I wouldn't have to, I have to try some tuning with this car if I want to catch up with barny0111 !!!

Have a nice day guys !

Whoops! I messed up giving my times... lol

I saw nominal improvements last night: 1'21.4xx for the race; 1'41.6xx for the stock version

Well, I have to open a new thread : "How to tune a driver ?" Lol ! Because I wanted to tune the Subaru Impreza Super Touring Car but in fact I just want to be faster, the car itself is great and I am not really sure what do I have to tune to be faster with... So how do I tune myself ??? lol !

I really think this challenge will hurt me bad... ! Detroitbb, please be gentle with me ! ;)

@niigaki : still in ???

EDIT : I remember having trouble to catch up with you Detroitbb and the Tourning Car in the practice round !

I am currently looking at a clean 1'22.198 and not so clean 1'40.898. I am having some trouble with turns 3-4-5, I keep trying too hard to go fast and always end up in the wrong spot for the next turn in. :banghead:

@ Easyblast
I am keeping my eyes open for the Tune-A-Driver thread. :sly: I could use a tune-up.

LOL ! I have one :

1. Trust your car when you start to have second thoughts about your driving skills and you think you just hit your wall ; let her show you the way cause your limits might not be hers...
2. (anyone ???)

And then :

1'21.778 !

(Before I was so afraid of being unclean that my thumb used to find the square button really attractive and spent long time with it or I was going too much tap-tap-tap instead of big TAP and TAP with the analog espacially 3-4-5... I let her doing her job and "drive" me ! Got three clean laps in 1'21.xxx, and one unclean but slower 1'22.0xx)

I think if you go fast enough in the 3-4-5 you'll have a great final time, too fast or too wide => unclean, too slow => well... too slow !

That's it for me for today with the Race Car !

Good luck guys !

Great job Detroitbb !

Small and painfull improvement with the race :

1'21.573

The good thing is I found a way to be clean and fast at 3-4-5, but I have to take a break with the Race and try again the stock because now my overall is 3'02.157 and a little bit tired with the Race so if I want to go under 3'01.999...

Have a nice evening guys !

1'40.616 with the stock Impreza. I think I might be able to further reduce that time by a couple of tenths, but not much more.

I'm still at 1'21.486 for the race car. I put in about 30 minutes with this car last night (versus only about 10 minutes with the stock version) and wasn't able to best my time. I did run three 1'21.5xx laps, but I'm beginning to wonder if I have already reached my limit with that car/track.

Hi guys !

Detroitbb, I hope you will further reduce your stock time ! Till now my stock time is 1'40.584 and I have also got the same feeling : should be better !

It's lunch break for me so I'll run few laps with both cars.

@ PiTch_ : déjà 1'39.xxx et 1'20.xxx ??? ;)

(I've also updated the Time Attack page of my website.)

Good times people. Mine so far are 1'21.546 & 1'40.539.

I have done better with both cars but keep sliding 1 wheel of the track on turn 5.

I got better times with both cars but I really think I'm maxed out with the stock car. I might be able to shave few hundredth with the race because I had ghosts with better splits but not better overall... I'll focus more on the race car for the last days.

Stock: 1'40.154

Race: 1'21.343

Overall : 3'01.497

Have a nice day !

I FINALLY saw a small improvement with the race car, but nothing major. I also got a tiny reduction in the stock car's time as well.

Overall, small improvements, but improvements nonetheless.

Crikey, yall are fast with the race car. I felt clever with my 1:23.5 laptime. I guess I've got some tuning to do...

EDIT: heh, I love the improvements you get with a little tuning and plenty of refinement. I've just done a 1:21.7!

As in, I am excited about a quick lap, not the factorial of a large number. I apologize for any confusion.

Is it just me, or does the Touring Car not want to rev very high? I find myself shifting up with perhaps a fifth of the tach left. And, regarding tuning, I have one piece of advice: Don't be afraid of making the car more nervous. Technically, the tune I'm using now is way harder to control than stock, but I've adjusted to it and it's very, very fast. Maybe it's just my driving style, but I prefer alarming responsiveness paired with eventual understeer.

My guess for Pitch's times:

1'20.7xxx for the race

1'39.5xx for the stock

How far off am I in estimating your times, Pitch?

Not so far !

realy hard to find time for this challenge. I run one hour yesterday and 1/2 hour today.

So my times could be better with more practice.

I run 1'39.631 with the stock car. But it's realy hot in the corner 5. I let you decide if it's god or not.

If it's not good the second best time I save for this car is 1'39.891. I post only the ghost, tell me if you want a picture

For the race car I make 1'20.815 with a funny first corner ...

Total : 3'00.446

For the ghost

UCUS98632RPLY-B1366A9EF00 ---> Stock 1'39.631
UCUS98632RPLY-B1366A9EF07 ---> Race 1'20.815
UCUS98632RPLY-B1366A9EF08 ---> Stock 1'39.891

bye

Hi guys ! Here is my submission :

Stock : 1'40.138
Race : 1'21.055

Overall : 3'01.193

I did have two 1'39.9xx with the stock but not clean, so I surrender ! I still was able to reduce my stock time but I don't like my turn 2, clean though.

So congrats Detroitbb and PiTch_ ! And congrats to you guys if you have a 1'39.xxx with the stock !

See you next challenge ! Have a nice weekend !

Touring Car: 1:21.678

I'm pretty proud of that time, took just a bit of tuning to get it to work... bloody thing kept resetting the adjustments, so I didn't bother to do much to the settings.
