@ Kamy - In Nascar, i believe you still have to put out a lap to be able to be guaranteed a spot. If you spin out/bust your lap, and you're inside the top 35 in points you are given a provisional spot.

We can do 1 provisional spot per class. You must be in the top 7 in points to be guaranteed a provisional.

I dont like it though. We already have a big pool of drivers so its best we give chance to everyone. If you fail to qualify, well tough luck, that's racing :)

Sounds fine.

I do believe that the final regulation draft needs to be drawn up soon and locked in stone though, as there are currently all kinds of rule changes being thrown about and discussed, and it's getting all kinds of confusing.

also, I won't be participating at La Sarthe, as I am busy that night. However, I'm willing to host some qualy sessions, which will be a good connection test through the week. Times TBA. heh.

Actually it means they can screw up their q lap. If they don't put a lap, they will start dead last.

Do i need to explain an american the rules of Nascar?? :sly:

How much time will the cars give eachother before you can start you qual lap? Catching up to a car and slipstream will make a big difference in time on Sarthe.

Sadly us Mericans are not much into the soap opera they call NASCAR. They went main stream and well when every tom dick and harry seem to think they are experts cause they watched one season it tends to push the long timers away into something more related to racing and not advertising.

/rant

I still think we should stagger races with fast and slow......you can only go as fast as the competition you race.......what an awesome thought that a low Q time gets the win cause he fought hard for consistent laps.

@ Kamy - I'm not American ;)

p.s. I will change this week's track to Monza to better test the Live Qualifying procedure.

GT500 registrations are closed. We need more drivers in GT300.

This maybe the final Preseason Race. I will be out of town catching some snow the first week of February. Season will start sometime right after.

Lol Masi. I just look to the first part of your location on the left. :dunce:

New track it is. Will we run the variable weather??

And to remind, i'm running practice on my lobby. Join if you want. There are some guys allready. We could do some quick races today.

ok just to point out no cutting the corners at monza as u can do it without getting a penalty

also, i thought we was going to test a night race?

Monza should be a good place to test driver discipline.

Standard 2 tires on the track at all times rule apply.

Check Racing Code of Conduct 👍

We shall commence a poll if we want another pre-season race.

so now we are running monza this friday instead of le sarthe?

also, with the provisional position stuff...i dont think we need it...if you want to race, you have to run qualifying...week in and week out (at a scheduled time or with a steward)

by taking up one of the 14 spots (in each class) in the race with provisional guys...you are screwing the guys that actually showed up and tried to make it but ended up outside of the top 14

its giving someone a free pass to run because the have been doing well in the championship and didnt bother to show up one week while screwing the guys that took the time to show up and try to make it in...plus it will just cause confusion with people saying i'll be there on friday, but i cant put in a quali lap

this thing is getting a little crazy trying to please everyone....masi, make it what you think it should be

Driver Profiles
Hey gents (and ladies if ever). Im introducing 'Driver Profiles'
This should be a fun trivial way of knowing your 'Real' competitors.
I will compile this on Page 1 through links.

Rules
- Strictly for official WSGTC members only (confirmed on the driver's list)
- One single photo (something sensible and tasteful, no nudes please, or gigantic 5000 megapixel shots)
- All info are optional including your photo. Post at your own discretion/risk.
- Post it in the latest WSGTC thread!

Real Name: Eric
Age: 22
Lives: Somewhere in Southern California
Lives with: Girlfriend and 2 dogs
Status: Unmarried :)
Children / Pets: None / 2 dogs - Labrador (Mika) and a Chihuahua (Kobe)
School: University of California Santa Barbara
Major: Medical Field
Work: Part-time in a Square Building somewhere downtown (also have a small online business)
1 interesting fact: I've been involved in 5 car accidents. All total wrecks. Two of which involved roll-overs.
Favorite motor-sport and why: Formula One - because they go fast.
When and how did you get into Gran Turismo: I've owned and have played all of the past iterations of Gran Turismo. I am motor-sports enthusiast at heart so it was love at first sight.
Real Life Racing Background: Tried Kart once. Other than that, just random mountain road driving.
Car History: Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII, and currently own an E46 BMW 330i. A steady progress to driving maturity ;)

Crashed the civic on a mountain road almost falling over a sheer cliff face. The car rolled over 4 times.

Meanwhile, I sold the Evo because gas was $5 a gallon at the time... and so i went with the BMW. 3 tons of Bavarian magnificence :D
...which is not really a wiser choice either (maintenance wise) but hey, its comfy, sporty, and runs well. i love it.

As i mentioned, i don't like the idea, but this series will be built around the opinions and suggestion by the competitors. Democracy rules. Still, i have the ultimate Veto Power ;)

I like this Driver Profile idea :P

Real Name: Andy
Age: 22
Lives: Kent, England
Lives with: Le parents, spending too much on racing to be able to afford to move out just yet!
Status:
Single
Children / Pets: 3 Cats
School: University of Derby (woo)
Major: Motorsport Engineering (Dropped out after 2 months, didn't want to study any more :P)
Work: Online Marketing Manager (Also have a small online business of my own)
1 interesting fact: Once had the left front stub axle shear off the kart 22.5 hours into the Le Mans 24hr kart race, while leading class. We finished 7th.
Favorite motor-sport and why: GT Racing, generally. Used to go to British GT races, my Dad's boss raced a Porsche 911 GT3 (car in the link is actually racing in "Britcar" at Brands Hatch, not British GT) in the series so I used to get a lot of free VIP tickets and to sit in the car a few times, good fun :D - Would watch FIA/Super/British GT if it was better televised, usually only watch F1 and British Touring Cars as they are the only regularly-televised series in the UK really.
When and how did you get into Gran Turismo: Stumbled across it round a friend's house when I was barely into console gaming at all. Was hooked from that moment.
Real Life Racing Background: Kart racing, have raced Prokarts, Rotax and TKMs for the last 5-6 years. Won a couple of 6hr endurance championships and momentarily held the lap record (lasted about a month, sigh.. :P) at Buckmore Park. Racing this year in the European Prokart Endurance Championship.
Car History:
- Little Suzuki Ignis (blah) was my first car. Had a Citroen AX go into the back of it, wrote off the Citroen, but my car was fine. Then someone shed a tyre at 80mph in front of me, which went through the front of the car. Quite scary, but only dented the radiator and broke the front bumper and the car marched on. Lesson learned here was to not follow a car which smells of burning rubber. I finally killed it in the rain by aquaplaning under (heavy) braking into a telegraph pole - Well, it still runs actually, only it will cost a lot to repair the (mostly) cosmetic damage. Solid car! :P
- Running a Lexus IS200 now, which is a lot more fun. But very expensive to run, seriously. Took it round the Nurburgring in October. Got totally owned by guys on semi-slick tyres in the dry, but in the rain it was so much fun. Really big smile when you see a VW Racing Scirocco only marginally catching you in the wet.

Photo might come Later

1 interesting fact: TBA lol (i don’t have a clue)
Favorite motor-sport and why: Formula One - because i grew up watching it lol. However i do think its the best motor sport out there using the highest technology
When and how did you get into Gran Turismo: I've owned only a few however i do think its one of the best racing games out there, plus its the reason i got a ps3 those years ago.
Real Life Racing Background: None what so ever.
Car History:
Fiat Punto (N Reg) – My 1st car that was bought for me as my 17th birthday present so i could learn how to drive. 2 Months after i had passed my driving test my friend (very drunk) thought it would be funny to pull the hand break off while i got out for a piss on the side of the road (He was still sitting on passenger seat). Soon as i turned around i saw my car rolling down a hill and then BANG into someones garden. Was a right off lol

Volkswagen Polo (X Reg) – 2nd Car that lasted a year (i think) had a friend rear end me at a round-about (you Americans wont know about them lol) it cost £3000 to get it put on a jig, plus paint works etc. But the end of its life and almost mine was when i parked up to see my girlfriend at her house, just about to open car door when a car came sliding past sideways hitting my side mirror off, crashing into a parked car on other side of road, then flipping over (wow i thought). Next minute a stupid arse black Clio rear ended me at excessive speeds (god knows) i hit the windscreen of my car, the next thing i remember was in hospital... Car was a right off!

Suzuki Swift (57 Plate) – Current car does me well getting from A to B without costing a lot at current prices of petrol. Had some old woman know my front bumper to bits (lucky she left a note) but thats all the crashes shes had.

Girlfriends Mini (07 Plate) – Great car wish i bought!! i love taking it out when she lets me lol

Hurr, that's way too close for my liking. I'm in Borough Green, also near Sevenoaks. :P

Edit: Just thinking about it, this is really ridiculous. We are an international series with people from across the world, and Paginas lives 10 miles from me. Wtf.

**** just looked it up on google maps ur like 25/30 mins away, damn thats scary!!!

yea get me tickets to brands hatch lol!!!

Regarding qual and racing format, I too am interested in the idea of bumping two racers of each class down a division after every race.

That way, we know who will be in what division before qualifying, and thus will be able to do the much simpler in-game live qualifying directly before the racing session.

Those whom don't qualify as well would have to be sorted somehow, however. So they would still need a separate qual session - it's the only way to know who from the "D3" section is able to move into D2.

This method is simpler to organize but not as efficient as Masis' method. I much prefer Masis, just note that it'll be easier to do this.
