RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

I kinda figured.

I managed a 6:35 at the Ring with quite a few mistakes so it's not exactly slow... But it is indeed still a complete pig for the tires it uses and the power available. That said, before the tune... It would be forced to take corners slower than most cars on S3s take them at due to the understeer.

6'35 is quite fast indeed.....if it were on Sports Tyres, or Racing Softs it's so-so.;) I keep hearing everyone say how crap the Enzo is. Even though I've bought one I haven't driven it yet, but I'll be interested to see just how crap.

first of all, thank you for all of your work on those tunes, they make the game so much more enjoyable for me as i am not very experienced/talented in tuning myself :D

i've applied many of your tunes and i am constantly checking back for updates
(so far i'm using your versions of the RX-7, Gallardo, Z06, C30, Abt TT-R, Ford GT, RGT, Peugeot 908, Challenger SRT8, C36 AMG, Civic RM, the R8 and both Elises)
I am very pleased with what i have tried so far and i really do appreciate your work

fun fact: i had the feeling that the setup for Romeo works even better online than offline, i only spent about 20 minutes seperately though
i was wondering if you experienced the same

That's quite a list of tunes in use.

As for Romeo working the same/better online... I somewhat noticed it too... Seems many MR and RR cars calm down a bit online.

6'35 aint exactly fast either, I did a 6'27 in a bone stock C6 Z06 on Sports Hards. I keep hearing everyone say how crap the Enzo is. Even though I've bought one I haven't driven it yet, but I'll be interested to see just how crap.

I demand video of that 6:27.

You know why? There ain't a snowball's chance in HELL you did a 6:27 in ANYTHING with sports hards. 7:27, sure. 6:27? Nononononono. And that would also make it circa 30 seconds a lap QUICKER than the Camaro you tuned.

Ah, anti-spam. How I don't miss those days. At least this one got approved. 👍

Thank you! Nice to see happy customers. :D

RJ is the person to answer this one, but from what I can tell, it has enough grip to not oversteer madly online, so that'll make it a lot faster.

The stock Enzo is crap. We just made it less crap. And you bought one? Oh dear. :sly:

Oh yeah:lol:, every once in a while I have one of those lapses and get the 6's and 7's mixed up. I must be going all sixes and sevens. (Is that actually English slang for crazy or just some Austin Powers joke?)

Previous post shall be amended.

I just remembered two more topics of my original post (that never showed up)

I used the Annhilator on the Seasonal event over the Nürburgring GP track (the modified/shortened version). It was a very easy drive as the only two parts of the track where i had to be careful with throttle control were after the heavy breaking zones (first turn and the chicane). It was much fun to drive around the track and I was able to instantly pull a 1:27,3XX lap time within those 5 laps.
i assumed this was a somewhat decent time for me so i decided to re-visit the DTM series in the A-spec Extreme hall and i wasn't disappointed.
The car seems to be built for the Ring - I chased it around the Nordschleife and i felt that it was definitely one of the better cars i drove on that track. Although I never had to use the 6th gear but that was already mentioned by a different user and is clearly an issue of the lack of setting the Gear-Ratios.
Overall this car with your setup is a beauty to drive :D

The first setup i applied from your tuning garage (and got me hooked ever since) was the Gallardo tune. Although i did not install the wing because i did not like the looks of it. It was still very driveable even without the wing (and of course a huge improvement over my novice tries of tuning it myself).
Could you give me some advice what kind of adjustments could help conceiling the missing downforce ?

nice job guys

like the work u did on Abt TT-R, Peugeot 908, F430, R8 V10, 787

i play on ds3 with just abs 1, and your tunes work like a charm for me

keep up the good work

RJ, I just tried your atenza tune on my '07 atenza. Guess what? It works :D

Before I used your tune if I go anywhere near the gas pedal mid-corner the front tires will spin like crazy and plow straight through :yuck:. Your tune pretty much eliminate those crazy spin and allows me to go flat-out mid-corner :). I tried it on cote d'azur and went 15 secs faster than my previous time on lap 2 👍

Will definitely try your other tunes in the future :sly:

The original Godzilla, the R32 Skyline GT-R. The R32 has always had to play second fiddle to its brothers, the R33 and R34, but not anymore. This R32 can out-handle, out-muscle and out-pose its younger brothers.

^Does the suspension tune work well without the downforce, full custom transmission, and weight reduction? If it does, I think I would do a comparison between this tune and another one from a different tuner.

Seeing how the other tune is a lightly tuned version of the R32, I would like to compare these two tunes (if possible) in a fair and equal manner.

Thanks

So... When you hear R32, you expect a Skyline, don't you? Perhaps you should, perhaps not.

Volkswagen did their own “R32” but in this case, R32 doesn't refer to the chassis code, it refers to the displacement of the VR6 stuffed under the hood of this MkIV Golf that just so happens to have AWD.

So... Is it AWD? Yes. Does it have quite a good helping of power? Yes. Is it somewhat on the heavy side? Yes. So it's an R32 then. Just not your cousin in Japan's R32.

Mazdaspeed RX-8 spec III review -

My first throw around at Monza definately made me happy with this car. It is tuned perfectly for this track and can hold it's own against more powerful cars. The problem with Monza is that the track does not test all the strengths and weaknesses of cars. Like the S2000, I also took this car over to Grand Vally Speedway to test it there. I found quite a few characteristics interesting in this car.

Low speed corners - stability is the key for entering these turns. You don't want this car off balance or you could find yourself having a new buddy sitting I. Your passenger seat called Mr. Barrier! Keep cotrol of your throttle also. There seems to be throttle induced oversteer in low speed situations. This car has power and likes to get loose when under it's influence. I can't stress it more, but in every type of turn throttle manipulation is key. Whn it hooks up going throug the corner it does show a slight lean towards understeer, but it can be prevented through the gas pedal.

Mid speed corners - this is where the little gremlin decided to show it's ugly face. Understeer plagues this car in mid and high speed corners on e you hit mid turn. The turn in response is excellent, very precise and points you where you want to go. The problem is with putting any power down you start to drift towards the outside, sometimes at velocities you hope you can walk away from. It is a stable as she turns in, hits mid and exit of the corner. Just be careful with that accelerator.

High speed corners - turn in is great, she is willingly to turn into the corner fine. Once you hit mid corner you are either committed to the turn full speed or you are backingup and playing the throttle manipulation game trying to recover. This car wants precision in eerything you do and it rewards you. Get sloppy then B spec Bob's body specialist will be giving you a visit.

Speed - 7.6 - although not as fast as a race car, this car can lick it up and haul some butt. The extra torque provided to this torqueless wonder definately smooths out the power band leading to no power spikes for smooth fluid acceleration.

Braking - 8.7 - although no real problems with overheating or over loadig tires are present, push her too hard while turning the wheel any and you will get a nice reminding red tire or two on you screen.

Cornering -
Cornering power - 7.9 - there is much to be desired here because once you plant the power, unless your slip angle is very small, you will have understeer to content with making it hard to rotate or change lines.
Cornering ability - 8.0 - she has a lot of potential, but I think the extra power has somehow hurt the cornering ability. I have a feeling that all the extra torque that has been given to th car and the smooth powerband can plague it with understeer. It is tough to change lines at higher speeds, while the ever present oversteer in lower speed turns. The car is definately stable, but a little too stable at high speeds and a little too unstable at low speeds.

Overall - 8.2 - definately not the S2000, this car can and is able to hold it's own versus many cars in it's class and above it. Smooth powerband and a car that stays planted at speeds is how to describe this car. Of you find yourself spinning on the front straight then this is the car for you. If you like to hone your skills with racing lines and precision, this car is for you. If you tend to find yourself going off the outside of a turn then hand overthe keys because this won't be the car for you.

It should work reasonably well with a closer to stock R32, perhaps a bit on the stiff side but it *ought* to be okay.

Mazdaspeed RX-8 spec III review -

*snip*

Sounds about right. The RX-8 generally tends to have quite a bit of "push" to it (has since GT4) and I wasn't able to fix it without further harming the balance at low speeds. The supercharged Renesis is a sweetheart of a motor and (as you mentioned) power delivery feels excellent but that last bit of prowess just isn't quite there.

Anything you want? ;)

Actually I was wondering what wonders could be done to a lancer evolution vi gsr tm scp '99 out of the new dealership. Then I ran into the renaultsport Clio out of the new car dealership. I would have to flip a coin on those two if anything right now. Would love to see one of them take on the 400hp NSX you guys tuned.

Neither of them will touch the NSX in terms of sheer pace at the same power. Clio would wind up likely being the faster of the two but it'll also be rather evil to drive as short wheelbase MRs tend to be.

Wow guys, seems like you do keep up the good work! Too bad I'm such a GT5 noob and can't seem to find time to harvest a decent amount of $ on GT5 to test all your tunes. ;)

good man. keep up the good work.

Thanks, plan to. 👍

The NSX setup is really nice. I had to adjust some of the suspension settings to fit my driving style but overall, a really good setup.

I'm sure Roj will be happy to hear another person has fallen in love with his NSX. :D

Heheh, looking forward to it old buddy. 👍

i was blown away by the setup on your 3rd anniversary NSX .. keep up the good work!

Sheesh, more love.

In other news, I've slightly updated the RX-7. New selection of engine parts for a bit better response and ever so slightly more peak torque, new alignment and differential settings.

Just having a play around to try and find a car to enter into a tuned 250BHP limit race. My choice at the minute is your Micra/March although I'm experimenting with the Civic aswell.

Got the March up to 234BHP now after a bit of a run out followed by an oil change and I've managed to do a lap of Autum Ring in 1:24.023. With it being a short circuit though I reduced the transmission to 130

Had a go with the Civic VTi-R (although I've had to use a different exhaust in order to stay within the 250BHP limit. I've also put a spoiler on it). It's actually chucking out exactly 250BHP and using the Civic VTi-R setup, plus the downforce with the spoiler, I got a 1:25.713. I then took the same car and applied the settings for the RM Civic to it and managed a 1:24.713.

I'm impressed that the March, with less horsepower, is quicker than the Civic, I only hope I can squeeze a bit more horsepower out of it and make it a little bit quicker!!

EDIT - Just had another run in the March and can't get anywhere near 1:24.023 now :(

I'm not totally suprised the March is beating the Civic at low-bhp time attacks. The March is lighter and has forced induction on it's side.

Also very suprised the RM Civic settings knocked a whole second off the regular VTi-R.

This is another Review for you guys!
Hope you like it.

Review "Romeo"

Romeo_Big.jpg

A friend recommended me this little, serpent car.
He said, that this is probably something for me, since I'm a big Fan of the Lotus Elise and was (as most of you) disappointent by the handling this thing put out.

He also said, that this car just grips and does not lose control while braking.
Sounds very promising.
After reading the Tuner's Comment, which said "[..]he holds cornering speeds reserved for those equipped with full race slicks... On street-legal semi-slicks." made me even more interrested.

So I gave it a try.

And boy, this thing does not mess around!
Quick as a dagger, agile as a shark and serpent as the Black Mamba!

I've tried it for 15 Rounds over the Eiger Nordwand, a very technical track with tight and not so tight turns.
Perfect to find out if it is really that, what RKM and your friend promised me, and of what this car is made of.

It's just mindblowing, even more I've could ever imagine.

The Hairpin - Combo is a real test for the cars handling, and this handles it just so well it seems surreal, it almost seems it would ride on train tracks.

Also very astonishing is, how fast this little car accelerates on small straights. Sure, it only weighs about 790kg and has about 310HP, but even with that specs it's even more amazing. I'm sure this car would kick the arse of Enzo's and other Hyper - Supercars in the game.

Well done RKM and mostly Kyle!

Points

Power + Speed: 4,5/5
Handling: 5/5
Overall Feeling: 5/5

Overall Score: 14,5/15

Closing Words:
I really have to give credit to Kyle. He did an amazing job in tuning this car to the absolute Maximum. The Overall Package is the best, what he has put out EVER! He didn't just manage to give the car the perfect symbiosis between Power and Handling, he has also managed to give the car a "safe" feeling to it, which means - No damn sliding rear while breaking! Thank you Genius!

Honestly, on a tight track, Romeo will destroy the Enzo despite the tire disadvantage. It's also the 3rd quickest S3 tired car I've run at Trial so far; bested only by a 700-some hp McLaren F1 and my Corvette Z06 RM which I tried on S3s for Tsukuba Super Lap then took to Trial to see how it'd run.

Glad to see my "as stable as necessary, as loose as possible" thinking worked out for that thing. :D After all, if you can't get it around track cleanly there's no way you're setting a quick lap.
