I think Skylines have awesome BOV's. Sort of sound like they are sucking the air in. Better than 'pish' sounding EVO's etc.

Well, one time an I saw old Rosso red Eagle Talon had a turbo, he floored it off of a stoplight and took off like a rocket, my friend's '78 C3 could barely keep up. Anyway, when he (the talon driver, not my friend, although he was close to shifting into 4th) grabbed for 4th, it went:

Pow Pwwwwooooooooooosssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Sounded like the tire blew out... then it started steaming under the hood and started frantically decelerating...

You may have heard the HKS, Super Sequential BOV. It makes a sound like the one you described in your first post. It's a very popular BOV with turbo owners.

i remember seeing this car.....not sure wtf it was. it was blue with gold rims, but it was old. i thought it was an old subaru, or a probe (god knows why). but it had all badges stripped off and had some bodywork done...i couldn't recognize it.

umm anyhow, it screamed rice. even had an intel-esque Boost Inside sticker(s). so he was pulling out of this best buy parking lot, and as he came to a stop his car just screamed. it wasnt even a straight psh sound. more of a pheeeeeeeoooosh. some BOV's have a slight screech in them but this was weird as hell. i think he had some serious work in there though. i watched as he sped off on the main road like a mofo. i dunno if he was holding back on the throttle or if it was turbo lag, but his car just rocketed off after a second or so.

i could hear it again down the road, but this time it was normal.

rant over. later. lol.

yeah and I think it's the loudest too.. even louder than XS Engineering RFL(Really ****ing loud) BOV. werdiest BOV i heard was one modified with a whistle. :dunce:

I have a video of a talon, or eclipse or somthing that duct taped a turkey call that hunters use to his bov and drove around w/ it....funniest damn thing ive ever seen.

I just sent out a money order today for a rice caller (aka BOV) im buyin off a guy....I dont really NEED one, but this one still recirculates air back into the intake as well as vents some out, so its alright for the car. I figured why not. he sold it me for 100 shipped when they normally go for like 230 new

i have a clip of the TURBOXS RFL Blow off valve revving on a wrx just a sound clip at www.blowoffvalves.com[url] then cli...opinion that u should all download it so loud

yeah ive been to that site, the rfl does sound pretty good, and its loud...i personally like the way the greddy type-s sounds on wrx's. unfortunately bov's on these cars that vent 100% to the atmosphere arnt good, cuz they cause the car to run rich and idle crappy, so thats why im gettin one that vents some to the atmosphere, but also vents some back into the intake. doesnt sound as good as the others, but at least its better for the car. In fact they even have a video of the one im getting on that site...its the second to last one, that says "GFB on WRX"

Just wondering, what exactly is a blow-off valve anyway? Where does it go? Does a turbo need it?

Also: Does anyone know which turbo valve was on the FnF (green, not purple spyder) Eclipse?
Edit: Seing the Prelude video, I firmly believe the SSSQV is the BOV equipped on Wataru's Levin.

But this depends all on what type of air system and fuel control the cars are running. Like in my Talon, I use an HKS VPC wich makes it possible for me to eliminate the MAS and run a MAP sensor. Any turbocharged car can vent to the atmosphere without affecting air/fuel ratios when running a MAP sensor, because the metered air is after the BOV.

I was just sayin, for wrx's its not good to have a bov that vents 100% to the atmosphere, at least on a stock or mildly upgraded turbo. I know other cars are different
