The WDS Tournament - Round 1 + Results

Welcome to the first heat at Las Vegas!

Special thanks to darkwind for coming up with the round details. Whoever is paired against him better watch out! haha

Please follow all rules and read all instructions.

There are 16 people entering for this round; no more, no less. You know who you are. For this round....

BCDSM is paired with UrsaMajorPrime

Teledriel is paired with somebody
RedWolfRacer is paired with Thirdeye

You are racing against the person you are paired with and no one else. If Z.'s final time is better than mine - than I am out and Z. advances to round two. If your 'partner' doesn't submit and you do - no matter how bad you sucked you will win that round. It is in your best interest to at least submit something.

There will be no making up times or any form of cheating whatsoever, it will not be tolerated. If you are caught, you automatically lose. Verification will be done through submitting your settings at the end of the week, in this thread. I better get 8 sets of settings at the conclusion of this round! If you win but don't post your settings, then if the loser can produce his full setup he gets the win! I am lenient in the regular WDS but since this is structured like an actual race there will be much less. That's why I encourage EVERYONE involved to submit a time and write down your settings. It's even better if you have a way of actually proving your time with a replay.

In the event of both people not submitting (say I die and Z. gets horribly sick) then we are both out and do not advance to the next round. Then what happens is that whoever lost the round by the least amount gets the 'wild card' spot and advances to the next round.

Race 1:
-Any car from the Historic Used Cars Lot
-Production cars only.
Limitations:
-10,000 credits to buy the car
-9,000 credits to upgrade the car
-50 credits for an oil change
-50 credits for wash

You can buy anything for your car provided it is free or doesn't put your total cost above the limitations. Keep a receipt of your purchases, and make sure your setup is within the rules!

You may discuss anything you want in this thread, including your car choice, what you have done to it, your exact settings and time, anything.

All times must be received by midnight CST of September 5th. 11:59 PM Chicago time during Sept. 5 is ok - 12:01 AM of Sept. 6th isn't. If you are not sure when exactly the timer ends, do a google search or submit early.

All times must be posted in this thread. Please don't pm it to me. This means that sometime before the deadline your time must be in this thread.

Wow, that leaves alot for upgrades eh lol ;).

The only thing I would have a suggestion about (maybe we can vote) is that every participant get to submit a time until 12am their time. I understand you want everyone to have until the same time and it's done, but as far as people daily lives go, you get until midnight to race, so you can go about your endevors throughout the evening, the g/f goes home, whatever, and you have until midnight to knock of those last hundredths of a second, I only have until 10 or whatever time that is for me....

I'm not trying to be picky, and annoying, but it's the only suggestion I could make towards the tournement, great job so far otherwise.

There's quite a few cars to choose from, racing on sports series tires will be fun also. ;).

The qualifying thread will probably be pretty dead now, so I thought I'd post this here, just cause I just bought my computer, and it's my new lil toy the allows me to input and output all sorts of media.

It is a full week so the need for a couple hour extension shouldn't arise or even be an issue. Don't wait til the last minute and you'll be fine. I understand your concerns, but really just do your best as soon as you can and no need to worry :)
 
Oh yeh I know, I'm sure the issue won't even arise during the tournement, it was just my only possible suggestion I've had towards the tournement.

So is anyone going to share what car they've chosen?

I found a car in my Garage that I've used for some earlier racing. It almost meets the requirements, I just need to get the tuning below CR 9,000. I'll post what it can do as-is then work on it from there.

I think I'll go watch Canonball Run to get me in the mood for GT4.
 
Mwaha I loved planning this race >_<. I did have a bigger budget in mind to buy the car but the pesky Nissan 300zx(I think) kept popping up for under 15K. Good luck all. 👍

Well planned 👍

I retuned my old Galant to get it within the budget and only got it to run 12.448 seconds. I then started from scratch with a 'new' car from the lot and now have a faster car - go figure!?.

You can buy Nitrous as long as its apart of your budget. Thought I'd specify that, don't want any confusion :scared:
 
Hmm seems the Kittens found that same Mitso Somebody ..

That and some Skyline sitting around collecting dust on the lot. Now that my manager was answered, seems they are busy looking at adjustments.

Still want to know how much extra Kitten power is Kenny :p
 
I currently have a 12.639 in the Skyline GTS '89... lets see how that Galant will do.

I'm afraid that although I understand the whole blind sweatshop kitten reference I don't understand your question.

Anyway, in the Galant everyone is using I have a 12.342

I dunno, but I just got done pm'ing all the people who haven't posted in this thread or probably wouldn't know about it. I don't think I forgot anybody, but I do think a couple of people are going to have it easy this round.
 
Now down to 12.197 with the Galant.

I have tried everything with this car but it will not go any faster. AT, MT, different launch techniques, different tuning...

I don't imagine I will beat this time, so it's over to you, Teledriel. Let's see if those Kittens of yours work.
 
As soon as I get offline, I'm going to do a few runs with various cars. And just like the 4wd week, I'm gonna try something that no one else is using. Hopefully I won't be a whole 2 seconds behind again, though. :dunce:
 
My new best time with the vr-4 is 12.273 Ill try to get it lower.

You'll get there in no time - this week settings really aren't so important, it's about what you buy....

Still tinkering here. Had some power problems recently so I lost all my runs. >_< stupid remnants of a hurricane. I have to go back and rebuy everything because I forgot what all I had since I was in the middle of typing everything out when the power went off... then on... then off again... gah, it was horrible, almost ruined my PC.
