My best time so far: 12.387. I'll probably mess with it more later. Car: Mitsubishi Galant.

Almost 30+ straight hours of rain and gusts upwards of 30MPH. Downed some powerlines which is what caused the problems.

Yeah, I have a time... about 13.2xx. For some reason this car is being super slow for me...
 
12.311 so far, still trying to squeeze a few more kittens in there.
 
If we only spend 8500 on the car can we put the other 1500 towards upgrades?

And sorry I've not posted, I'm a super-gamer and found myself a little over-extended with adding OLR to my line up (which reminds me, I gotta send an apology to OG, can't do the Tarmac Rally race despite my desire)

I just wrapped up a Neverwinter Nights campaign, there is a computer in Tron waiting for me to come back and rescue them, my golf clubs are getting rather dusty, my Civilizations (Civ III) aren't growing at all, my troops from Total War are wondering what happened to their commander, and my Samurai Sword hasn't left it's scabbard in MONTHS! (to name a few ;) )

Add WRS/WDS/WDS Tourney to that lineup and you can see I'm stretched rather thin.

S'alright though BCDSM, I gots me an idea that I think will win this round, but you'll have to post a time 1st, I just have time to post a time! ;)

Alright BCDSM, I'll give you this much - I don't have the slowest time I've seen posted so far but I'm not going to tell you if I've got the fastest...
How's that for a 'first' post of my time ;)

At the moment though, I'm waiting for my car to roll around on the historic lot so I can verifty the cost. I've bought some of this model already but didn't care about the cost at the time. The 'price' listed in the garage is well below the $10,000 but that was true for another car as well that actually costs $13k in the used car lot...

I might have to switch cars...

lol... the 'sell price' is usually about 1/4 of what you paid for it, if I remember correctly. That's a classic car anyway - although I'm sure that price is entirely realistic for that car.

Yeah, handmade in England and all that - grrrrr. Still, it's my favorite new addition to the game, I own like 12 or 13 or them.

In fact, if I don't see the Interceptor in WRS here pretty soon, I'm thinking of organizing an Interceptor tournament just for the heck of it.

Guess we'll both end up posting as close to the deadline as possible then ;) We'll see who holds out the longest....just realize you are dealing with the patience of a U.S. Marine here...

I'm in the Galant at the moment and doing alright, I've tried a bunch of other cars and a bunch of setup's for this thing and I'm close to the fastest time posted, but not quite close enough I figure. ;)

How the heck is he getting that?

The math is easy and obvious if you ask me. I've tried a number of different purchase combinations, and tried all the combinations with fresh oil changes/car washes, tune settings, and identical launch techniques (for testing purposes) - there is only one 'set' that makes any sense as far as even coming close to that time is concerned...I'll be *very* interested to see his setup AND replay!

I've also treid every bloody launching combo there is, all of it, I think there must be a seyup I just let slip by me, hopefully I'll find it tonight.

Nope, haven't quite cracked the .1 barrier yet and am stymied as to how I might. I've ticked my way 1 click at a time through the TCS setting using many different launch techniques at each click. ASM on/ASM off - even tried some ballast settings. Turbo no turbo/NOS no NOS blah blah blah - been at it all day!

And what (sort of) bites is that there isn't another car under 10k in the historic lot that even comes close to the torque available on this car. If it wasn't a tournament, I'd be tempted to go with something else just to be different, but I wanna win! ;) so I don't think there will be much variety among the winners as far as what car they drive. :yuck:

I think I'm about done for now though - I could be mindset on something, and I gotta get something done for the regular WDS race this week. I'm ok with my time, as it it still one of the fastest posted, but hopefully I'll be able to knock a few more ticks off that clock before the deadline looms large.

Good luck ace - and if nothing else, our stubborness about not posting a time and this conversation about how well we're doing has been more entertaining than sitting here holding the X button!

I dunno what I did special....I've doublechecked to make sure I didn't overspend, I'll check again to make sure. I don't have any ballast, TCS 7. No downforce.

Actually I was referring to the time 'somebody' posted, I didn't see your 12.056(?) until I just looked again...so it seems I'm further behind BCDSM than I thought <sigh>

Unless I'm way off on something, you have to use NOS. That's 5k leaving 4k for other mods.

The Chip costs 1250 and the Sports Exhaust costs 1550 for a grand total of 2800, leaving 1200 left for other upgrades, the most cost effective I tested was stage 1 weight reduction for 1100. Leaving 100 credits left over.

Doing that I've got 240 HP/236.08 ft-lbs (320.081 Nm)

(it says 240hp at the car list in the garage but on the car itself it says 237???)

I tried the semi-racing exhaust + stage 1 lightweight for 3950 (+NOS) but didn't have as much HP and my times showed it.

I tried the intercoolers - same result.

I tried the Turbo instead of NOS and was seconds behind.

Tried a Chip/SR Exhaust/Sports Intercooler/Clutch/Flywheel/Stage 1 lightweight combo and it was still nothing compared to the Chip/Sports Exhaust/Stage1 lightweight/NOS combo...

My best times came at TCS 5, 6, and 7 but not close enough to the .1 barrier to compare to your's and 'somebody's' times.

Is there a 6.2k mileage version of the car available and does it have more base HP after the oil change?

I'm stumped.

The 12.056 is invalid!

I had on a racing flywheel.....so I was using 9,900 instead of 8,900 credits.

12.342 for right now!

I'm kind of....uh...stumped how to get below a .2 also

Oh and hey, when you get around to posting the Round 1 results, would you post all the times in order from fast to slow? Maybe put an * next to those that advanced? I'm curious how that list will look...

Yeh, trust me, this was a hard earned time, and the jump from .3 to .1 is huge, I don't even know how many runs I've put down, I'm guessing 500+.
 
this is getting tense! I think i may win by default since my opponent is MIA. I hope he shows up, he should at least post and let me know hes there.
