I can afford either of these.
After my search starting in March '08, first test drive of a Prelude in May '08, subsequently followed by numerous Mustangs, Camaros, Trans Ams, and Mark VIIs, I've finally found it. My first car. I'm so freaking happy!!!!!!

So overall, this is a great, old truck. I need to track down what's up with the tach, as it doesn't work, just hangs at 3k rpm, get the float in the gas tank checked out, it fluctuates from working to not working, change the oil and coolant, then further down the road get it some new tires and an alignment. And then the sound system needs help too... I'll keep this updated as I progress :D

First order of business: Get the title signed over to me and bring her across town, back to my house.

Congrats, you have a truck that will never, ever die unless you run it out of oil.

Hell even then it'll still go a while .

All the better for me! Only I plan on keeping it nice and maintained. It'll be cheaper for me, always a good thing for the unemployed longhair

Now I need to find a good forum, or website that stocks parts/knowledge on these. Latemodelrestoration.com stops at 1992 :dunce:

I just realized, my trucks older than me!

Depends on the tank, it's got 2 ;)

The front was completely replaced, and it's fuel pump. The rear tank they just stopped using 'cause it was only going intermittant, so I'm not sure whats up with that one...

I'll have to check out the haynes manual. I just don't wanna spread my money too thin right now.

Surely 25$ aint too much ;) Looks like you'll probably be taking the bed off anyways so you might as well take a look at the secondary tank. Be prepared with a shop vac to clean up the area surrounding the pumps on the tanks, don't want anything getting into it. It'll be a good opportunity to take a look at how the frames doing.

We'll see. I don't know if I will or not. There's not much rust in the undercarriage, so I'm confident in the frame. It's been in the south for most of it's life. I kinda want a job before I learn all what needs fixing... Ya know?

Absolutely understand. I still don't have a job either. Thats whats halting my car.

I have 4 weeks of football left starting monday, then it's job hunting AGAIN. But I can do it in style

Severe lack of 4x4x4 system. ;3

Sharp truck, though, bodywork's in way better condition than anything 'round here.

Congrats.

Pretty clean for a '91. Usually those are beat to hell and/or total rust buckets.

I don't need no stinkin 4x4 :p

i can't afford it...

I was surprised of the condition when I saw it. It was described as in rough shape, and wasn't maintained very well, but the husband clearly did some things before he died that the wife didn't know about. The interior is like 98% mint too :)

I love it. Start at Prelude, end at F-150.

Congrats on your first car! :D You definitely went to the other end of the scale there :p

Hah, yeah just a little. For most of my search I was using a ~2000 F150 at my job on a farm, so I had a little closet love for them

you forgot the extra "x4" ;3

I am serious, though, when I say that your bodystyle is the one I most strongly associate with Bigfoot. The Blue helps, too.

Maybe when I get a DD :p

hey, clean! as someone said, it is difficult to find such trucks in decent shape anywhere, yours looks almost intact, and from what I read in the other thread, it was an absolute steal. Needs a blown big block, but then again, I do know you just got it, haha.

enjoy (:

AWSOME! I love it and it looks in great shape. Like someone mentioned already keep oil in it and it will run forever.

My brother's got an '87 XLT Lariat (351W) and it is a brute but still a great daily drive. Other than the MPG it is a win win win as far as I'm concerned! Enjoy it!

Oh, I plan to heheh...

The MPG will eat me alive if I don't get a job soon though :scared:

The truck is home!

Me on F150 Forum
So I've got a '91 with the I6, and it's having some cooling issues. It's not overheating, but I'm afraid to really test that. The top radiator hose is (obviously) the wrong one, and it almost clamps shut if front of the valve cover sometimes, the thermostat is questionable, and the lower radiator is unknown. The truck is running mostly on water at this moment, because it did overheat on the previous owner (she was up front about her husband not taking too good of care of it) while pulling a boat.

So my question here is, after I replace the t-stat and radiator hoses, then get someone to flush the system, unless me and my dad can do that too, what should I look for if it's not anything that I've replaced?

Sidenote: I've got the towing package, does that mean I have either an oil or trans cooler?

I got an estimate from a really down to earth salemen at goodyear for the t-stat, hoses, flush and a serpentine belt, but that's not needed too badly. When he came out and looked at the truck, the water I was using for coolant was bubbling just a little out of the overflow tank, but has since been good. The gauge on ACCESSORY at goodyear ran up to the M in normal, but when driving, it's never been over the O, so I think that when it's running it cools enough, but I know I need the hoses, and I'll talk to my dad more about it. If we can do the flush here, we'll just do everything, because all the water will be out for a new thermostat anyway, and I save like 225 bucks that way.

OH! And the DMV wanted to charge me $425 to register my truck

They have a $225 first time registration fee for getting a plate for a vehicle, but luckily we had an old plate we could renew, so I saved that $225. This car business is hecksa spensives.

My dad and I are going to go tommorow morning to get new hoses, and coolant, I just bought some chemical flush tonight, and we'll get a new cap for the radiator and I need wipers too.

We're gonna get that all done tommorow morning and hope it's not a deeper problem than that

Are you leaking any fluids? I'd make sure the water pump is good, I think they are serp. belt driven so its shouldn't be too hard to take a look and make sure its spinning freely.

Since you're running into problems, I guess I won't file a report of you stealing such an immaculate F-150 battleship. ;)

I hope that the problem gets resolved cheaply. :)
