Damn! Nurb was easiest event from second set for me, when the others not, its just an annoying feeling... nevermind, they're all golded.

Drive AMG school a lot to learn the nurb, it really works.

Setup for Nascar at the Ring please?I tried my own and while overtaking Jeff at the straight I lost COntrol and ended up 3rd (there goes My Pillow through the window)so a faster setup for an easy win is appreciated.

If you caught him on the straight thats about as fast as you're gonna go. I reached the same point and screwed up and can't duplicate it.

For the life of me, there's no way I can drive the NASCAR fast and still stay on the road. I'm surprised people are saying it's the easiest one.

Hell no its not the easiest. The easiest is the Challenger. I can barely keep the NASCAR on the track and at the same time I stay in last place. The other cars aren't even in view on the mini map. Give us soft Racing tires please. The car is too heavy and too powerful for that narrow track. And yes I know the track very well. I had no problems in GT4 and no problems in the license and Special events in GT5. I can't gold them but I have either Silver or Bronze.

I agree, I find Nurburgring a very hard track to learn. I have golded all of these Seasonal Events (bar the Ford Focus) but I am yet to try the Nascar Nurburgring as I still don't feel ready to attempt it.

Well you have to try soon. It will expire in a few weeks.

This is basically how I learned it in GT4. Then you have the endurance race. After running it time and time again, you gradually start to learn when you can push it, when to let up and when to brake. My G27 actually makes Nurburgring harder for me. But I have only been using it since the past summer off and on.

i passed jeff on the back straight away. i have my nascar lowered all the way camber set to 2.5 in the front. 1.3 in the back. speed around 249 i think. worked like a charm. but i am very good at the ring, i love the track. i have done a 4:03 in the x1 with a spin.

Whats the timeline, when do the events get deleted?

This is a great idea, it seems like it is very easy for Polyphony to make online challenges like this, hope new events don't become less frequent.

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have gold and silver in every seasonal event except this one. I've driven enough on Nurburgring to believe that I know the track - but I just can't push the car and stay on the road. My tires always seem to slip.

I just beat the Nascar bonus race the second try. I was in the lead before the straight on the second lap. If you know the ring, it is pretty easy compared to the others.

I can't believe yesterday I went and did the whole Nascar Special Event specifically to get a NASCAR for the last Seasonal Event just to get inside it and unconsciously do an oil change...

~300km to get it back to 850hp, you say? Because I grabbed the opportunity and did the whole Nascar Series (A-Spec Extreme) and I'm still nowhere near that...

Do you need to gold it? I have a silver on the NASCAR Special event(missing 1 gold) so does that mean I own a NASCAR and didn't realise it?

I think you do need to gold it. But it's quite easy, I assure you.

EDIT:

Jeff Gordon NASCAR School All Gold: NASCAR *plus silver and bronze prizes
Jeff Gordon NASCAR School All Silver: Modern Muscle Car *plus bronze prize
Jeff Gordon NASCAR School All Bronze: Classic Muscle Car

Thanks for that! I will do this later, I only need gold on the starting in the pitlane one but it's annoying that you have to sit through a 30 sec pitstop each time!

Annoying indeed... 👎

Oh, and remember to turn ABS to 0 (zero). It will make you go faster.

Here is a video and my setup for the Nascar event. My first lap is pretty good, but I screwed up on the second lap about 3 times so it is horrible. Still managed to win by over a 4 second margin though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00MRtXTEjck

ABS: 1

SRF: ON

All Other Assists: OFF

Downforce: -50/-70

Ride Height: -17/-19

Transmission: 230MPH

Springs: Front: 16, Rear: 15

Everything else was default.

Lap two is sped up and is not a good indication of the line you should try and use, I made several mistakes, however it does show that you can make mistakes and still win easily.

Lap one is pretty good and is all in real time. The key is throttle control. You can't just stomp on it, and if you get off track at all, you have to git off the throttle asap.

Also, I had never driven this track before this event, and I failed miserably the first few tries. However, after about 15 "practice laps" this track became much more easy to drive. I probably spent 2 hours before I had a decent run, and even then I still made mistakes on lap 2 (mostly trying to pass other cars).

Your assurance is not for everyone. This by far is the worst Seasonal even for me. I can't even pull out of last place. And its not the track because I know the track. The car just doesn't handle well enough for me. My lap times are like 7:20ish. By the time I am able to tune it just right to my liking, the event will expire. The car just doesn't turn and stick the corners like every other car I run on the Ring.

Nascar was a little hard for me, I hit too many walls.

I finally cracked the Focus challenge without ASR. Now up to the next.

I think those should be fairly simple compared to the focus.. That Focus challenge is just idiotic!

Frankly I find that the FD RX-7 challenge without the Skid Recovery Force is even harder.
To win there you have to do laps closely around 1:00 minute. After ten laps all within +/- 0.2 seconds from 1:02 at the end of the race I was still 15 seconds behind the leader. I tried only once but I did many laps of practice and tuning beforehand.
I'm using the premium RX-7 Spirit R, maybe there is a better one to use?
But probably I have to refine further my set-up and driving, instead.

You can win it with that car without to much trouble. For me I thought I was never going to get it, but the Skyline in the lead gets stuck behind a back marker on the last lap, so it makes it quite easy to catch him.

Just to show how easy the mazda challenge is with SRF set to ON.

If you're on a PS3 browser...

I didn't realize SRF was on till after the race.

The SRF is bogus, shouldn't be in the game IMHO, or if it's to be in the game arcade would be ok, but for it to be in GT is absurd. I liked the Alfa 8C at Eiger challenge, PD should make more special event challenges!

Yeah in arcade mode it's fine, but for GT Life mode and online it shouldn't be. I'm just glad that they let you filter out the races online with SRF on.

Hope we get some more seasonal events for new year, that would be fantastic. Really challenging ones, that use high power, difficult to drive European cars!

Im not one to do an oil change when buying cars and knowing what happened to others when the first seasonals came out I'm even less confident in doing it... Now for some reason I thought it was a good idea after buying my NASCAR specifically for this event.. :grumpy:

I did get down to 849BHP after doing the whole NASCAR series, and whatever I could enter it into in B-spec. Took a lot of time but I got there. It's a really good B-Spec car.. Seems less like a heavy tank in B-Spec.
I think I entered about 15-20 races with it to drop the power below 850.

You misread the conversation me and RedBullRacer were having... We were talking about the Nascar Special Event, not the Seasonal.

But if it makes you feel better - and after I finally got my Nascar down to 850HP again - I tried the Nascar Seasonal a few times and didn't get gold.
I did lap at 6:46, if I'm not mistaken, but the best I did was 2nd place...

Taking around 150 (difficult) corners in a row, without any mistake isn't easy...

Problem is my Bob can't get near a Nascar yet. He's still a (stupid) baby at level 8...

I've done the Nascar on the Ring event so many times, I'm starting memorise the ring :)

i've tried the nascar at the ring but can't get better than 9th :grumpy:

Do you think they give us a proper race event where you all start on the grid together is will it always be rolling starts.

I left it at stock tuning and won third try.
