Have you tried syncing your wheel to the xbox? You press the <<< button on wheel and xbox to sync them up....as far as the humming noise I think that they are working on a firmware update that will fix that issue.

How is it not working for pc/ps3? I know to connect to ps3 you have to push the <<< button and back/select button and the same time and then you will see a dot on the display screen on the wheel...this is what I see on my csr-e I would think it would be the same for the csr

Just as I go to update, I got it to work. I disconnected and reconnected all the cables. Don't if that did it or if a full reboot on the wheel and xbox did it but it's working now!

I still get the humming buzz in xbox mode though... got to see what fw i'm at and how to get a newer fw because I recall this being an issue for some. Also doing my first race in forza 4 the car starts in 4th gear?? Manual without clutch. Had to leave the house so didn't try clutch yet. Is this a fw issue or wheel issue?

Did you calibrate your shifter?

Instructions are in the manual or you can see here:

No problems with my CSR and Elite pedals but it did take a firmware update (706 I believe) to quiet the fan and correct the save settings bug.

I don't think the console racers are not as good as PC racers due to laziness but rather limitations. A good comparison is take the Corvette C6R onto Road America in Forza 4 or at Sebring, then try the same in iRacing. There is no real comparison, one is very much arcadeish and the other is very much ... real.

Hmmm... based on all of the "iRacing is the closest to the real thing..." comments (not just you) I gave iRacing a try. Well, now I realize I have not given iRacing serious seat time, I don't see any "huge" difference between Forza 4 with simulation steering and iRacing- I am using a CSR and Elite pedals. I can dial up the FFB strength higher than Forza but it doesn't feel realistic over a certain point. I can see the attraction for serious competitive virtual racing but other than that Forza provides my fix (sound, graphics, car selection, and similar feel).

I think the main thing Iracing has far over forza and gt5 is the feeling of the track itself the little bumps and elevation changes can be felt through the wheel. At least that's what I interperet I haven't actually tried iracing yet since im still good with forza 4 as well lol

That's what I have heard but I didn't feel any noticable difference (track bumps, etc.). I spent about 2 hours on Leguna Seca in a MX5 but I actually liked Forza better. I will give it more time as I am paid up for 3 months but I was not impressed. Could be that I have Forza dialed in better for my wheel. I think the main thing iRacing has over Forza, or GT5, is competitive online racing.

Hmmm really want to try iracing but don't want to pay for something if I end up not using it often....the biggest turn off for me is the car selection only the mx5 semi interest me as I like to use production model cars mostly. And one of the main cars I use in both forza and gt5 is the s2000 since I own it in real life and try to tune the car to my real life car

I played online today with a friend and was constantly switching to different cars and was amazed at the differences when switching I could feel all the different changes between each car; tire grip, braking, steering. Never really noticed that much before but the wheel gave me a real good feel of each car and I was able to easily adjust

Good news... I will be reviewing the Fanatec CSR elite..

Even Better news. I know how to edit videos on my ipad.

Heres an example:

Nope.. He's paying direct to fanatec however he's paying at the review price..

Good deal for both of us

Around 330 with csr pedals however that's euros

How many reviews are needed? I thought it was done and dusted.

Also saving 200 euro for typing up a review.

Lucky you. Doesn't seem ethical though.

Why? I'm not getting the discount...

Saying it is unethical is unfair too. All the beta testers and the community reviewers had the same discount

The other problem for fanatec would be if I didn't pay for it there losing x amount per review.

You do seem a little bitter/resentful though.

amf7
A relative.. He runs a record studio and is going to be using the elite in his new accommodation area for the acts.

Oh that's ok.
I thought it was someone getting a cheap wheel who has done nothing for the sim racing community.

Next time I order from Fanatec I'll tick the review box when ordering.

Some people will always be skeptics 0-o

It's that or fanatec lose money on a product. Let's be honest a loss would not benefit the community due to less RD spending

How many more reviews are coming?
The 3 GTPlanet reviewers were selected and done.

Surely endlessly reviewing wheels will cost Fanatec a 200 loss per unit.

Anyway your gain, well done on blagging a wheel. My hat goes off to you.

Will you be doing the T500vsElite (round46)? as well?

Do you own a T500?

Looking forward to your review Adam.

Terry.

Zzzzz...

I don't feel a need for another comparison and I don't own one although TM had offered one.

Glad your looking forward to the review

Hey guys just wanted to post some pics of the modding ive done to my csr elite. I have gutted the original wheel and redirected the wires back through the shaft and under the mic input. Got some aceteal plastic and made an adapter to fit a quick disconnect. Only real downside is losing the paddle shifters, but then again i never use them in the 1st place.
