Im tuning my Mclaren F1 for the tunnel but no matter what I do it always spin through 1st gear giving me a horrible launch. Im not asking for set ups and tunes just some hints and suggestions

Yep yep launch that puppy in second.... Your not gonna totally get rid of ALL the wheelspin by the wAy... Unless u want to bog and then you will really hate your launch!! Good luck!

^^^What these guys said. Also make sure your 2nd gear(or whichever gear you tune to launch from) is tall enough that you don't bounce off the rev limiter, but not so tall that you bog.

Thanks for the help I know I would still want some wheelspin but that thing spins so bad it bounces off the rev limiter but I'll give the 2nd gear launch a try thanks buds

Erm...

You guys completely missed the fact he's tuning it for tunnel drag.

2nd gear launches are all but useless for anything other than 1/4 mile runs.

So what the problem is, is that you're running too wide of ratios/too short of a 1st gear. You want to spin in 1st, but you don't want to ever hit the rev limiter. Find out what your overall ratio is for your highest gear is (top gear ratio x final drive), divide by lowest possible final drive... Now reset to default, set top speed to minimum, check what the shortest possible 6th gear ratio is. If it's numerically higher than the result of that last equation, set your final drive .500 higher, try again, etc. Fine-tune it to get as close as possible.

Then set 1st as long as possible, shorten 4th and 5th as much as possible, set 3rd between 2nd and 4th. Test.

yes, BUT, even in the tunnel the McLaren has to short of a 1st gear with a proper transmission to give it the right top speed in the tunnel

In layman's terms.... final gear to 5.000 then move your top speed to the lowest possible (149).. Move your first gear all the way to the left. Leave 2nd gear alone (for now, you may have to tweak it a little to the right) 4th and 5th and 6th all the way to the right. Then take your 3rd to the right untill the graph shows you that the bottom of the line for your 3rd 4th and 5th are as close to parallel as possible.. Move your final gear to the left tell you reach desired top speed on the top of the graph. *Note... the number they give you is 10-15 mph slow... so keep that in mind.

Nothing against your way of tuning Rotary... heck...it sounds like a more in-depth, scientific way to get the perfect gear setup straight away.... but numbers can be confusing (at least for me) and they dont always match up.... so I use the graph to get me in the ball park then fine tune the numbers after that. (mostly 2nd and 3rd)

Let me just quote myself.. In the McLaren F1 (and Zonda R, and speed 12) 2nd gear is your launching gear for tunnel.

Speed 12 doesn't need 2nd. In fact, if you use 2nd you waste time spinning.

I'd rather spin through 1st than spin through a longer 2nd.

Yes true you can make it launch in 1st, but 2nd through 6th is faster then 1st through 5th.

I would suggest adjusting the LSD, to help with the wheel spin issue. 30/50/5 usually works for me.. Good Luck..

The lsd doesn't get rid of or change you wheel spin in drag racing. It only affects how much a tire rotates during corning.

Go to speed test
Set LSD to 5 60 5 and do a few runs
Not set it to 60 60 5 and do a few.

Now tell me it doesn't do anything

I noticed that LSD settings made no difference for me when the test track came out, but I gave it another try when I saw your post. Still no difference though. Tried the F1 with the settings you mentioned (also default 10/40/20) and there is no change in time.

Also tried an Aventador and a Viper ACR just in case, but no time was gained or lost. I used auto for consistency.

How much time are you gaining?

Same.
LSD made no difference for me on the cars I tested.
