Every once in a while GTP seems to be running extremely slow. It's just GTP though, no other website does this. The logo and background colors and textures take up to a minute to load and normal takes just a few seconds. It happens everywhere, in school (when permitted), at home, at family's. It's kind of irritating when you've got limited time on here and have to act quick.

I don't know...I'm on my Samsung Galaxy S II. the GTP apparently is pretty fast... did you check your internet speed and bandwidth? Check your IP configuration in cmd in Windows

Seems fine for me and I usually have 5 or 6 other tabs open. Try clearing your cache and cookies. What is your RAM?

Everything is fine. Internet is up to speed, IP is ok. Cleared all cache, history, cookies, everything. My RAM is 6GB, soon to be 8. Everything is all good. Like I said, only happens here.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that some textures don't show up at all.

The only recent server issue occurred between 5:00 and 5:30 AM EST last Saturday morning. Otherwise, everything is running fine.

You may be experiencing a regional network issue, especially if all of the locations through which you regularly access the site are serviced by the same ISP. Does the text of the page load quickly, then the graphics load slowly? Are you experiencing problems right now?

Well I've been experiencing some similar problems, and I'm nowhere near the regional network of Slashfan's. Although it's quite possible my own network is on the blink.

The text loads fairly fast, but everything else takes forever. I'm having issues right now, that's why it's taking a bit longer to respond back. We called our ISP the other night and told us that there was nothing wrong. I ran a few Speed Tests, and everything looked good. It's never the same GFX that don't load either. Sometimes the same ones don't load, other times it's different.

OK. If you could run a traceroute right now, that would be great.

Open the command prompt on your PC and run the following commands:

tracert www.gtplanet.net
...and...

tracert cache.gtpla.net

Please copy and paste the output here so I can take a look at it.

Generally my speed is about 30ping, 2.5DL and .15 upload. A few days ago it got real bad and went to 1000ping, 1.3DL and .13 upload. Here you go.

Here is the other one. Gave me a bit of trouble pasting though lol. Not sure why it keeps chaning to gtplanet though, I typed in www.gtplanet.net and www.gtpla.net.

Thanks, could you also do the same for www.gtpla.net?

I actually did it twice, and it automatically changed it to www.gtplanet.net both times. I didn't know if it was supposed to do that so I just posted it anyways. Looks the same as before. Re-doing it now.

When you say that the textures don't load, do you mean something like this?:

Happens to me daily.

That happens too, but this time to a lesser extent. this time it loads more than that.

Thanks for the trace routes, Slash. I don't see any red flags there, though your connection's latency does seem to be rather high (for a comparison, the first hop from my home gateway to my ISP's first router is between 5-7ms).

Regretfully, there there is not much else I can do for you. The server has been running a normal 25%-35% load throughout the day, and the metrics show a world-wide page loading time average of less than 4 seconds over the past 24 hours. For me here in the central U.S., pages across the site have loaded in less than one second throughout the day, as is usual. An intermittent network issue somewhere between your local ISP and GTPlanet's server is the only explanation I can surmise.

[...]
Happens to me daily.
The site looks that way if the CSS files, which define colors and layout, cannot be loaded. CSS is served from a separate, specialized network of content delivery servers, so if they can't be reached, this can occur. Just hit refresh and the problem should resolve itself immediately.

Recently the colours lost their shading after taking forever to load the main forum page. Say the red bar was one shade of red and the blue lines that is under the GTP logo and links to the news, library and feeback pages was really thick. I don't know if it was just a one off thing though, nor I don't think it's too big of a problem. Though about yesterday I experienced some slow loading times. But I think that's just the recent server issue Jordan mentioned.

I just don't understand why it was working fine and all of a sudden it loads extremely slow. Skython said it perfectly, that is what I'm experiencing now. It's actually causing this text to take a second to appear after I typed it. Some textures take forever to load. This is happening now but the picture posted above hasn't happened in about a month.

I'm not sure why that would be the case, either, unless some wonky configuration on a router in your ISP's network is inconsistently directing your traffic to GTPlanet's data center. The server continues to run without any issues, and average page load times for the Pennsylvania/New York area are currently averaging at 3.1 seconds.

Continue to run trace routes when everything is working fine, then run them when everything is running slowly and compare the results to see if you can detect any differences.

That's about what it was before I started having issues. I've reset the router and all sorts of stuff. Nothing helps. I'll be sure to do that. Thanks for the help so far.

I have been getting this recently aswell. And I live on other sides of the world from Slashfan and Skython.

But I didn't say anything because I thought might be a bother :D .

Has there been any recent changes to the server that you have made that could be linked to his Jordan? :)

No, the server is running smoothly, nothing about it has changed, pages load almost instantaneously for me, and none of the metrics I have indicate any change or problems.

When, exactly, did you begin noticing an issue, ellisnutt?

It seems to be running normal at the moment, however it does have those phases of being extremely slow. I shall report back upon further notice.

No problems here. Now the large amounts of photos being posted in the Hotwheels collectors thread killed my internet tonight.

About a week ago. Maybe just less. Stopped yesterday.

P.s - call me Ellis ;) seems wierd people saying my full actual name

The craziest thing just happened at about 9:25. I didn't grab a picture, but all of GTP's formatting and pictures went away and the text were just links all over the place. The blog and forums were like that. It's better now, but it was all messed up on my end for a few minutes. Perfect Balance and Eric said they didn't have a problem so maybe it was on my end. No other site was affected.

Well, I've reloaded pages a few times, and nothing, so the CSS servers must have some kind of technical issue. I hope it's better in the morning.
