Hi Madmax, I'd like to update my times also, so here goes:

IA-1 - 1:03.561
IA-2 - 1:25.312
IA-3 - 1:56.356
IA-4 - 1:17.356
IA-5 - 1:19.085
IA-6 - 1:27.817
IA-7 - No improvement 2:07.421
IA-8 - 1:54.581
Total time - 12:32.031

These times were achieved on a PAL copy this time round with the PS3. I will be uploading the replays to Youtube as soon as I can, for the time being though, I have a .rar file containing a screenshot for validation purposes...

Hi Famine. What do you mean? I cant see any vids :dopey:

I was refering to B2, you have a time of 26.3 which is similar to mine, but the top time is 25.2 which is a full second quicker. It just seems a bit of a large gap considering its just a 1000m stretch. The car is never really traction limited so it seems odd we should loose a second. I cant quite see where the opportunity is to gain or lose that much time. :ill:

Max maybe you can shed some light on it since you had the next best time of 25.3 💡

Well, I've finally dug out all my old PS gear and, for the first time since I started playing GT, golded all the licences.

The additional good news is that, quite some time ago, jrose sent me his memory cards (I believe there's some GT2 on there too) and, in the process of determining how to record my own replays properly, I'm finally able to record his too :D

to jrose: this may be a little off-topic, and perhaps more suited to a private message, but, for the benefit of all, which controls are you using? Is it the x axis of left stick for turning, and y axis of right stick for braking/throttling?

Congrats for such nice records, by the way!

to MadMax86: I do not really get why jrose's wall-grinding-abuse rides are figuring to the table. Since they may be considered illegit, and are already referenced-to in his post, in my opinion they are best to be removed from the best-times list in the first post so as to leave podium places for the less fortunate, i.e. less-godly drivers.

Long time since I did these tests, but I only remember using default controls
x axis of left stick for turning and the default buttons for braking/accelerating.
( I only alter R1 to change up and R2 to change down)

Thanks for congrats - I spent a lot of time doing these licences.
And even more time on GT2 licences!

As for the 'wallriding' , at the time when GT2 was current, most people were doing it - it was quite acceptable.
I wrote about the history and reasons on here some time ago, but maybe my post is gone now.
 
Hey jrose -- thanks for the input!

That must have been X for throttling and Square for braking, then. Personally, I have been using right stick for that, since that is what allows me to perform the weight-transfer techniques explained in the reference manual. I am nowhere near your times, though, so I am not sure it really matters (who is the pro, anyway), but I am enjoying slowly getting golds on every license test.

Alright for the wallriding.

Speaking of GT2, would you be able to try and give around some input, especially concerning the second thread link -- of course if that is not too far away in memory. ;p

This also makes my A licence total time 'clean'

Checking my replays again, I've discovered a wall riding contact in IA2 which I missed before.

BTW there's a mistake/typo in the positions at the bottom of A4.

There doesn't seem to be a decent database for GT2 licence times.
As GT2 is the favourite of many, dare we hope you can do the same for GT2 ???

Nice. 👍 I just had gold in this one last night, before going to sleep.

Furthermore, I am a big fan all of A4, A5, and A6 -- and especially of A4.

I've updated your A4 time , A Licence Total Time and GT Licence Total Time.

And also marked your IA2 time with darkgreen , thank you for your honesty.

About creating a GT2 Licence database..
I have thought of it , I will try to look into it in the following week.

My plans for improving this GT1 Licence database so far are: add the licence test names and car / track info.

Car type would be nice also, e.g., FR, MR, etc. -- this is because I have the Japanese version, and for the hell of me I am having troubles figuring out which kind of cars this is. My feeling is that A licenses feature lots of FR cars, and I had the feeling while driving A6 (in the forest) that it was a MR car, simply because of the different handling feeling.

Does it show the type name in American versions?
 
The only cars in the A License that are not FR are the cars in A4-A7. (There's an FF Honda Prelude, an MR2 which is the one from your test, and two 4WD's, a GT-R and an Impreza) The rest are all FRs (3 Supras and an RX-7).

I've collected the car / track info for all the licence tests. Adding them to first post now.

EDIT: Added the car names / track names (from GT Mode time trial) and drivetrain info.

I also found some inconsisty in test names at licence screen and in licence test.
Example : (in licence test) Initial acceleration and stopping 1 , (licence screen) Starting and Stopping 1

I will be using the test names found in the licence test. (you see it just before starting the test and select AT/MT)

For consistency I will also change all tests names as follows: B1 -> B-1 , IA8 -> IA-8 .

If anyone has the NA version of the disc , could you check the car name for B-8 Test for B Licence (for EU it's Mazda Eunos Roadster)
