The last time I bought a weekend grandstand ticket, it cost $110. That may vary by track.

Yeah, it varies quite a bit. At Sonoma this year it was $35 for a race-day ticket, or $99 for a three-day "Super Ticket" with a full garage pass included (), not to mention the ticket promoters had all kinds of one-day special deals leading up to race... I can't tell you how sad I was when I couldn't make the time to go. :indiff::(

Apologies for big image, but I feel its right to post.

Tomorrow marks the first anniversary of Dan Wheldon's death at Las Vegas. We've had a safe season of Indycar with no serious injuries, thanks to Dan who helped develop the Dallara DW12, who sadly passed away a year ago, doing what he loved - racing.

RIP Dan, the racing world still misses you.

Perhaps due to the rumors, or realizing that his time with the IndyCar was over, Randy Bernard steps down as the CEO of the Indianapolis-based corporation immediately. Bernard had no experience in motor sports when he joined IndyCar in March of 2010.
As the CEO, he oversaw not just the IZOD IndyCar Series, but the Indy Lights and other lesser series under the IndyCar name.
"I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with the entire IndyCar community, its teams, drivers, loyal partners and fans," Bernard said. "The last three years have produced some exciting, and some difficult, times."
Stepping up to the plate in the interim will be the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation President and CEO Jeff Belskus

Randy Bernard will not be missed in the world of IndyCar.

Wait, what? I thought it was Tony George and Brian Barnhardt who were ones that everyone hated

Are you high? Honestly.

Who else do you think is responsible for this past season and how great it was? It sure wasn't Tony George or TGBB.

Were is the like button for this post!!!

Randy could have did so much more.. He was good for the series honestly. Nobody is perfect. Indycar is becoming synonymous with the words "screw up" sadly. 2012 was a great season.

Yeah... Seems like family ties count more than any kind of buisness accumen when it comes to trying to fix Indycar; Shoot, why the heck is Tony George still involved in ANY kind of racing series? Because he's a Hulman. Why did Indycar's board of directors pretty much going to let him waltz back in and take over Indycar again, even though he had his shot and (More-or-less) failed? Because he's a Hulman and the half the board is his family...

It's sickening to me that the Hulman Family care more about the one race they have a personal investment in than the only series in America that have actually run in it for nearly a century... Yep, that's it; I'm done with following Indycar. I hope Randy Bernard goes out swinging tonight on Windtunnel and pulls no punches when the questions start up...

TL;DR My mood upon hearing this news: 👎👎👎👎👎

Also, there can only be one answer as to where the Indycar Series can go from this:

Considering both of those goons are still employed and have control in the series, no, Bernard won't be missed, in IndyCar.

How Barnhardt wasn't completely thrown out of the series after 2011 is beyond me.

In my opinion, Bernard did a great job, and this series seems like it doesn't want to succeed, because of all these dumb decisions.

Look at who he's working for, you think he had a choice? Are you aware the George-Hulman Family was over him? You try getting rid of their family member and see how long you'll last before you too get ousted. Pretty sure the Hulman family is why both of them are still employed, not Bernard as you seemingly want to blame.

I just completely disagree with your comment. He did more for this series then George and BB ever did. 2012 was season that was for once worth watching and guess what, it wasn't because of Tony.

The coverage was so much better in 2012 as well. This year was the first time I saw an Indycar race (including the 500) broadcast live.. At least its like that here in Canada.

I'm not blaming him. The Hulmans and the Georges won't miss him because they won't realize what they did wrong until it's too late.

This whole thing makes me wonder if there will even be an IndyCar 5-6 years from now, which is sad considering IndyCar as a model has a lot to offer if they would just utilize what they have.

Look what I found here.

I have a feeling you could get every person not on the IndyCar board to sign it and it wouldn't make a difference to those brain-dead idiots.

It seems they don't want to be successful and don't mind remaining under the massive shadow of NASCAR.

Which is sad considering NASCAR has basically left the door open for someone to make a move as far as fanbases go.

Hopefully the Grand-Am/ALMS merger can do something about this 👍

Don't quote me on this, but there are rumors that IRL will go from under the shadow... to under the wing.

Do you mean...dare I say...a buyout by NASCAR?
