Hi, Keith. Remember the LSD setting for the GT-R that you gave, i use the setting together with the transmission trick setting and it REALLY WORKS WELL!!!. The car feels very stable, during cornering and exits the corner very smooth, like a train... no more rear going sideways... đź‘Ť Thank you so much for the providing the LSD setting to me, Keith. You're definitely the LSD meister. :D

This car was built for the 380PP NR-A Roadster Cup at the Indy Superspeedway. I didn't notice when I built this tune that Chassis Reinforcement had been installed. It didn't turn well at all, but I thought that I would stick with it and make it work. I plan to build an identical car without the reinforcement to test the difference. I was able to pass the lead cars at the end of the back straight on the last lap running this car at 335PP which gave me prize credits of over 700,000. I think I could still win this event with 330PP.

If this car is too loose for you, try any of these items to tighten in back up.
- Lower rear swaybar from 4 to 3.
- Reduce negative rear toe from -20, closer to zero until you are comfortable
- Raise rear springs from 5 to 7, 8, 9 or 10 and raise dampers to too.
- Lower front springs from 12 to 10, 9, 8 and lower dampers too.

Built this tune to be very similar to the tune directly above this, but without chassis reinforcement and without the weight reduction then addition. Still able to win at 335PP. This car will run 1:07's. Don't be a whimp... don't lift. This car will hug the inside white line much better than the similar tune above.

Mazda MX-5 SR-Limited (NA, J) '97

In researching historical Mazda MX-5 literature, it seems some editions were equipped with 15" wheels, and maybe the SR-Ltd '97 was one of them. Maybe these 15" wheels were even a little wider, and certainly did come equipped with lower profile tires.

So the question is, did PD model some special editions of the MX-5 with larger footprints of rubber, and/or higher thresholds of grip, and is the SR-Ltd one of them?

This car was built for the 380PP NR-A Roadster Cup at the Trial Mountain Circuit. I picked this specific car out of all of the available used Miata in the game because this one is the closest to my real world Miata race car. Yes I turned it into a Spec Miata race car, but the day I picked it up it was a 1994, in this Neo Green color, with the tan soft top, the chrome stock wheels and a V special. I spent this evening trying to tune it to feel very much like my Spec Miata. I am so happy with this tune that I am tempeted to take the PS3 out to the garage, strap the 40" TV to the hood and drive this seasonal event from inside the car. I am just not quite nerdy enough to do that, but the thought did cross my mind. Spring will be here soon enough and it will be time to drive the real thing again.

This tune was a pretty easy win for me at 350PP, passing the lead AI after the tunnel on the last lap. I think 340PP or maybe even 335PP may be possible.

This car was built for the 380PP NR-A Roadster Cup at the Suzuka Circuit. I have always heard that the premium '91 model wasn't as good as the premium '89, so I never drove it. I picked it for Suzuka becasue of the higher HP that it can achieve at essentially the same weight level as the other Miatas. This tune was a pretty easy win for me at 350PP.

Used the G27 on this tune instead of the DS3. The cars feel much more loose with the wheel, so I didn't have to go as agressive with the oversteer settings.

This car was built for the 380PP NR-A Roadster Cup at the London Circuit. I really like this tune for London. A little trail braking without scrubbing too much speed and the rear will just track slightly sideways for a very quick slide through the corners. This tune was a pretty easy win for me at 350PP.

Used the G27 on this tune instead of the DS3. London is a very tight track so I kept much of the aggresiveness of the similar DS3 tunes. I also spent some time optimizing the transmission to this track to avoid any odd, mid-corner shifts.

This car was built for the 380PP NR-A Roadster Cup at the Eifel Kart Track. The NB cars handle very differently than the older NA cars. They are heavier and come stock with 50/50 weight distribution. They are much looser than the older cars, so tuning this car is the reverse of tuning the older models. I worked to reduce oversteer vs. the fight for understeer that the earlier models face. I had to work at it to get the win here because I just don't know the track well enough. The tune helped me to get it done.

First off, want to say thanks for all the great tunes and easy to read advice. Are you going to start doing 2.10 tunes based off of seasonals/time trials from here on? I wanted to try out your tunes then modify (if needed mostly in the LSD dept.= obvious reasons) for using dpad/"X" throttle/automatic, then compare with lap times from the top 100.

I am just going to drive what I feel like driving right now. I am behind on a few seasonal events so will be doing those from time to time. Also doing a lot of online racing.
 
Another quick question...do you still have the same thoughts about how the game uses ARB? I know in real life your description is 100% accurate, but it seems that opposite works for me in the game...

They seem to work as advertised for me. Softer bar, more grip, heavier bar less grip.

If people would like to discuss my method vs. theirs or ask for a deeper understanding of the testing that I have done, I am always open for a healthy discussion. I will not put up with being told that I am approaching tuning the wrong way. This is my method and it works very well for me. I can respect that other tuners have different methods and beliefs that work well for them. I am simply asking for that same level of respect in return. If it works for you in the game, then by all means, do it. This is what works for me. If this helps some others to learn tuning, it was worth writing. If it sparks argument and debate within the tuning community, I'll just close up shop and keep my opinions to myself from here forward.

I do reserve the right to make adjustments to the tuning guide as I learn more. One truth to racing, the more you do it, the more you learn.

This truck was built for the 470PP Pickup Truck Race Seasonal Event. I drove this truck about a year ago and just hated it. It wouldn't turn no matter what I tried. Now, with 2.09 physics and another year of tuning knowledge, this truck is actually fun to drive. Will be using it a lot more now.

Bravo Hami, great update. Have to admit, I'm still reading conflicting opinions on front toe, I always thought -ve front toe = better turn in, less grip on exit...

In the real world, toe pretty much does what you've said here. Negative front toe promotes more front ackerman early in the corner taking advantage of the grip fron the inside front wheel. Then weight transfers to the outside wheel. It's about getting rotation very early in the corner.

In GT5, that's not what I am experiencing. I seem to be able to hold a better line mid corner through exit with more front toe. It does call for more testing evidence to be shown. I want to take a car that I have already tuned to handle well, then change only front toe and post the results. It will either further prove what I am feeling in the game or teach me a slightly faster way once more.

The more time you spend doing something, the more you learn.

Interesting... I'll do some tests of my own, though I can't say I do these things with quite the rigour that's expected here. :lol:

Just pick a track that you know really well and like driving. I learn the most from Top Gear test track and Grand Valley.

what's meant by "rotation" of the car in the tuning guides? an example is where camber tuning is explained.

Rotation - Getting the car to turn. Cars like to go straight and need to be convinced to turn or rotate. Excessive rotation would be a spin out.

I think you said, in your guide, that you wanted to do some testing or find somebody who has. Just wondering how you got on with that. Would love to eliminate it without having to add weight to the rear. There's other issues with them as well, but I'm hoping I can sort those out.

What's your brake balance?
Can you take some off the front and move more to the rear?
 
Hey Adrenaline. Both have plenty of adjusment, I usually leave the brake balance until I atleast get the LSD then suspension sorted. Just having a hard time getting consistency because if I don't hit my marks exactly, makes it tough to see if I'm improving. One is DB9(5/5) the other is SRT8(7/5).
 
Agree with Adrenaline that brake balance can solve the issue or solve much of the issue. If you are at 5/5 brake balance then try 4/6 or 4/7. It might also give you more ability to trail brake and improve turn in.

Sometimes it doesn't do enough, though. My tuning guide focused on understanding each individual setting but there is a need in our community for some "problem solving" threads. What to do about outside red front tire. Great subject. I have some very fast tunes that still make the outside front tire glow a bit and sometimes smoke a little. Sometimes I am at the limits of the tune settings and more front grip just isn't there. Sometimes reducing more rear grip makes the car a handful and too loose in other areas of the track, so living with a little bit of outside front tire glow was the lesser of two evils.

I think this is a great subject for the community to discuss. I will start a thread about this so that it doesn't get lost within my garage.
 
Yeah, was dreading you guys were going to say increase rear brake, I'll just have to redo the Decel LSD. Thanks and I'll be looking out for that thread once you get it going. What color paint do you want Hami?
