Had a quick go again today after not being able to play for a while. Feels like some really good progress is being made in the handling department. 👍

Also noticed a couple of new settings in the AA section. DS2 and DS4? Bit confused by this.

As a relative newcomer to PC gaming what is theoretically the highest in game AA setting?

Cheers Shaun.

DS stands for downsampling (downsampling x 2, and downsampling x 4).

In game the highest AA you can run is DSx4 and then use some FXAA or SMAA on low (high is actually the same settings for those ATM), but if you use any injectors or whatnot, you can add loads more (and get 2FPS :dopey:).

Martin (the main render coder) is doing some work on the AA still to make everything a lot more crisp and work out the bugs.

How long do you think till the game releases (if at all?). Are they ahead, behind or on pace for their target of November?

As far as I'm aware, it's still on track.

Wow. I love GT4 cars. Essentially a street M3 but stripped out and fitted with the necessary safety components. So barebones.

Should be an excellent match with the Ginetta G50 when that comes out as well.

I really like the works livery of this new BMW.

Not that we know of but there are new additions and surprises all the time. Until SMS tell us the game content is final anything is possible.

Lord March is apparently very much against licensing Goodwood for use in games, both the circuit and the hill climb. I remember reading on nogripracing.com (I think) that Goodwood circuit has only ever been licensed once for some really obscure sim for that reason.

Still, it seems like it would be so, so easy for modders to get all the information they need to make a decent representation of the hill climb so I'm not really sure why it hasn't been done (not for a Simbin release nor rFactor, anyway, I haven't looked in about two years).

Also Brooklands is all overgrown and broken now so they wouldn't be able to use physical data to reconstruct it (i.e. laser scanning, GPS data) so it would probably be a lot more work than they're prepared to put in for one circuit. But I agree, I'd love to race on some professional recreations of both Brooklands and Goodwood... My favourite thing to do in rFactor (and pCARS actually) is load up a point to point or road circuit. Azure Coast in the Caterham 7, Transfagarasan in a Z-cars Mini or one of the Project Kaido touges in an AE86 N2... Goodwood hill climb in the Capri would be so much fun.

So they just showed another car that wasn't revealed in their BMW lineup, the BMW M3 E92 GT4.

Nice Bimmer 👍.

Now I can't wait to see the car in a time attack video on the 'Ring on YouTube soon. I wonder when will SMS show the RUF that they were creating posted on a page that is now buried in this thread. Love to see it, or unless I missed it. Been busy for some time.

Every time I see a surprise car, I think there's two more that they can't show haha. Where are the Ginettas?

I know right?

But I'm wondering what BMW or a RUF is next on the list.

The Ruf RGT-8 was exported yesterday, so its gonna be in either todays build, or tomorrows - depending on if it made the "build baking" deadline or not.

PS: +1 for some Ginetta fun next, would be more than awesome! :)

EDIT: Turns out they rebaked the build this morning because of a bug and both the Ruf and the M3 are in! :D
Along with the mother of all changelogs for performance, graphic bugs, audio, GUI and track updates... Wowzers!

I got a nice little surprise while reading Gamereactor, Sweden's largest gaming magazine. They listed Project CARS as number 3, out of the year's 30 hottest, upcoming, games according to them - just behind GTA V and Bioshock Infinite. Consider this as a minor publicity for the game.

The PDF-file of their 100th issue won't be available online until their next one is out, so in the meantime, here's louzy a picture.

Edit : Ignore the text about which platforms the game will be available on.

Edit 2 : Quick translation; A racing game completely funded by fans where the players themselves can help with everything from beta testing to the design work, can it really work? The answer is; OF COURSE! GameReactor has previewed it and can inform that it may well be the most important racing simulator in the last ten years. Project CARS is made for fans by fans and it should be a damn duty to keep an eye on it.

I wish I could read Swedish though.

@Felix: the big one still isn't included though. The HDR and AA fix (still WIP). Griff said that AA always was bugged in the engine. So I am sure it will get up to (or beyond) AC level soon. :)

Sorry, I completely forgot about that! My bad. A quick translation is now added in my previous post. The original text contains some inaccuracies though.
