Something I just noticed... pedestrian cars are now marked on the map. OH THANK THE GODS OF SUN AND RAIN FOR BESTOWING THIS WONDERFUL GIFT UPON US! No more surprise corners and intersections!

I'm actually thinking Driveclub and The Crew (both next gen) are looking better than this, The Crew has FULL customisation while Rivals does not (from what we've seen). Driveclub is looking pretty amazing too, it too has full customisation, and both games are made by well known arcade racer devs (Reflections - Driver, Evolution - Motorstorm). When I watched the E3 gameplay of Rivals, I got the impression that Criterion were working on this, it's too much like HP3 to say Ghost did it. You still have to find cars (confirmed in an interview), the roads are pretty much a straight line like HP3 and drifting is mandatory from the looks of it. I'm going to say this, NFS died after Undercover. I've given Criterion chances, their first effort was flawed but good, but they disgraced the Most Wanted name last year. Ghost need to make a complete reboot of NFS next year, get rid of Criterion and split Ghost into two studios.

Something that the Test Drive games did back on the PS1...

@darren, the handling in Rivals looks different than CG's last two games. The cars look like they struggle to maintain a good drift at speed apparent with the Ferrari they keep showing off.

I hope the positive side of CG's physics carries over. Most Wanted 2012 was the first NFS arcade game which you could cruise in with the automatic shifting up and the handling being decent at city speeds.

For Rivals I mainly look forward to its photomode because that was always missing in Most Wanted (for me), and the sounds and graphics. If cruising with friends like in Most Wanted works (even better with an easier lobby system) while the open multiplayer is as entertaining as it was in Hot Pursuit I'll be happy with it. And no, I won't buy the DLC.

Well those weren't online games where everyone had to have the same pedestrian in the same spot. Now with this always online thing hopefully cars won't appear and disappear when players sync up. I guess pedestrian location will be a global server side thing now.

It's not mostly due to the server thing, it also depends on their internet connection and/or your own connection.

I doubt it. You'll still get people lagging thru traffic & throwing it at you.

I hate when that happened. Mostly in HP, since a red nissan truck always spawned right in front of me and I crash. :grumpy:

That stuff happens because racing games don't need good lag comp since everything is based off time. You could finish ahead of someone visually on your end but still lose because they really started milliseconds before you.

Hi guys, new member here.

After browsing various NFS:Rivals forums I signed up to this one as you guys seem to have the most coherent and informed discussions / opinions from what i've read.

Anyway, my thoughts so far is that this game seems to be an evolution of NFS HP 2010 – which to me is a good thing.

I played need for speed games since the first one on the 3DO and was actually a huge Underground fan, but ever since HP2010 Ive been hoping for a sequel in terms of Cops-v-Racers rivalry.

The online rivalry and competitiveness is what really made HP2010 such a great game, it gave hours upon hours of online fun; particularly the 1-on-1 "Interceptor" mode and the team based "Most Wanted" mode in which you had to drive strategically to win, which was great as it was more than just racing, you needed to have a tactic or startegy to win, both as cop or racer.

This game looks really good so far from everything Ive seen, but my main concern is the “All Drive” seamless online/offline feature..

Personally, I would have preferred a more classic, menu-centric approach with a lobby room before racing just like in HP2010.

I enjoyed the lobby because it gave you a chance to know the people you were about to race with with, make a team and have a bit of pre-race “you're goin' down” kind of fun, I think that would’ve given the game a more social touch and actually created more rivalry between players.

The only other thing is, hopefully you can level-up continuously.. Not just up to level 20 like in HP2010 and no further. That was completely stupid and illogical.

I really like the fact that there will be more weapons and that these will be customisable/upgradeable just like the cars. But from what I see in the gameplay videos the racer only has EMP and Turbo and they don’t even need to recharge like in HP2010?

I also hope they include team based rivalry, like the Hot Pursuit or Most Wanted game modes from HP2010.. otherwise the game may get left behind from team racers like Drive Club and The Crew.

I sincerely hope they don’t mess this up because it seems like this has the potential of actually being the best NFS game ever.

So... what side of the Law you will be on?

Cop, because I enjoy protecting fake video game people by getting in high speed chases and threathening the lives of everyone on the road trying to protect them from a single person. :dopey:

Since most cars seem to be exclusive to one side of the law, I guess I'll do both...

I'm beginning to suspect Rainbow Dash, just so you know, guys.

I'm telling you for the last time, if you post in a thread for no other reason than to suspect someone of liking a cartoon of all things, you're gone.

It's time to stop acting like a moron.

As for everyone else, just ignore him and report it. Don't even acknowledge the post past reporting it.
