Just wondering what your opinion on prize cars and their re-sale values in GT5 is.

I have only got GT4 in the past 6 months but I've found that by using the prize car from Isle of Capri rally to make money it's too easy to get the good cars and thus missing out on having to earn your way through the lesser cars.

Should you not be able to sell prize cars, or have their values lowered (the rally celica gets you 250,000 for 10 minutes driving.)

Also an issue that has come to my mind from GT5P, should all dealerships have their own events? I couldn't understand why some like Dodge didn't get one in GT5P. This would give you reason to buy every car, some in GT5P I've bought but I never use them because their isn't an event that they are competitive in or fun enough to race in.

In GT4 I've kept every single prize car that I won the very first time I done that event. As for GT5, in my opinion they should give all Prize Cars a good re-sale value. Even for the cars that you buy, they should increase the Resale Value. I mean theres nothing worse than purchasing a vehicle for say 65,000Cr and spending X amount of credits on modifications, then only being able to sell the car for say 20,000 Cr. So you should get for a figure 40,000Cr instead of 20,000 Cr.

ATM races FTW. :D

I'm more interested in the return of the prize car carousel, GT3 style. That would have me doing the offline stuff more often.

Good point, Heath_1, about fairer resale values for modified cars ... online auctions will (would) do that.

And, seriously, if there's no ATM race, that's fine. I'll be shooting at my fifth 100% completion of a GT game anyway.

Yay, it's not a wishlist(well at least not one about what cars should be prize cars).

Also, I would love for the carousel to return as it's fun trying to guess what one you will get. I also think that the cars re-sale value should go up also as I hated spending money on a Daihatsu and upgrading it for 3 races than only getting a small fraction of it back. As for the prize car resale value, I don't see anything wrong with it as I used it to get fast money once I got further in the game.

If there are special cars which come along for outrageous prices as happened in GT4, you're going to be screaming if it's hard to make money.

Don't worry about how someone else plays GT5.

1 . I think that you should be able to sell them indeed, and their prices lowered for easier races.

2. With that said, I would also like the game to not have one-time only cars. It really pains me to find out that I sold the license cars I got in GT4 just because I was a noob at the time, and I'm still on my first gamesave, in day 8800+

I sold some of my one-time only prize cars today, such as the Tank Car and the Toyota 7, just because I never use them and the only bother me in the garage, and I can use them whenever I go to Arcade. I would like to be able to get them again if I ever want to use them, but since the garage can't be maintained in an organized way all the time, I wanted to keep it clean from cars I never use and such. I currently have 52 cars in the GT4 garage :D

3. No prize car carousel, please  It's enough for me not to be able to get the prize cars I want in the right colour, since there are 20+ different colours for some cars. Imagine what I should go through if I can't even get the right car.

In GT5P you can't sell prize cars. Its kinda annoying because if you don't want them in your garage. The carousel system in GT3 should return in GT5
But anyway I hope that the resell value will increase in GT5 because at this time its like the quarter of the price that you pay. Resell value should change in fonction of the car's milage, performance parts installed, the car's rarety ......
just my thought about that

The carousel system was the single most stupid addition to the game. I hope it never returns.

I'm another fan of the prize car carousel. It was always suspenseful waiting for the carousel to stop spinning so you could see what car you won. I think all prize cars should be one off cars, very expensive ones or just obscure ones which you'd usually never consider buying, just to make it a little more worth while.

I can also say Final Fantasy players will relate to me when I say one of the worst things of Final Fantasy XII was to get the random items :ouch:

EDIT: "Wait, what...?" Jack.

Are you saying it was a wheel? Like a wheel of fortune? :odd:

Sorry but I don't want to do a 15 endurance race tournament or a 24 hour race to find out I have to do it again because I didn't get that F1 car and have ended up with a toyota supra race car instead. No to carousel system thanks.

I agree that modified cars should give a higher resale value. Obviously only like 1/3 of return. What would also be great is if the used car lot had cars with modifications.

I don't like the idea of not being able to sell cars if you have no use for them. Though at the same time it can be good if you can't sell cars you can only obtain once. At least then you won't accidentally get rid of something you may want to use later on.

now i like the sound of that, that along with an auction online used car list.... the possibilities are endless i really want PD to implement stuff like this

I just had a good idea for the selling of cars. Not sure if anybody here played Sega GT but when you sold a car you put a price on it and if it was to high none of the virtual buyers would buy it.

I also think it would be cool if the cars you sold ended up racing against you and even showing up again in the used car lot.

I've played sega GT and you made me remember of that system. It could be a great addition to the GT series and it could solve the problem of the resell price:tup:

No not really, every car in SEGA GT 2002 had a "perfect" sell price, i remember a friend of mine always selling a Tipo at the same price to make a lot of money, he just needed to make 1 simple race 2 or 3 times and the car got sold. The wear from the mechanical parts like the exhaust etc. was neat though.

I mean that PD could take some parts of it and implement variations (mileage, and all the things that I've mention in one of my posts above). Still that system is better than Gran turismo resell system.

I agree with this idea,I also think you should be able to race for parts aswell as prize cars. My thoughts on the carousel returning well I'm not opposed to the idea but it would be dissapointing for those who didn't get the car they wanted after racing all day enduros.

The carousel system is not that bad,but I would like it ammended.

When you win a car from the carousel,it should become unlocked at the appropriate dealership. Then you can go buy another one if you like, and with the use of the livery editor,(assuming we'll get that feature),you can have the car color of your choice without having to go back and run the event multiple times to get the one you want.

I still clearly remeber all "The Theories" regarding GT3's carousell system..

I guess PD was laughing their butts off while reading them, while the system was 100% random.

Well there was a trick to win the Polyphony001 in the PAL version.
If you won the Superspeedway endurance with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI (or V cant remember) you got it. :D

But yeah, the rest was absolutely random.

I couldn't put it any better the random prize car system in GT3 was one of the most anoying things in GT winning the same car over and over , more anoying than the music you hear after failing a license test or driving mission.

I have an idea for a new carousel system.

Bring back the Carousel and have 4 cars all locked in the game that you can win. Now after you win the race, you get your prize money and 1 of the 4 cars at random. However, having completed and won the race, you also unlock all 4 cars in their respective showrooms. So you can then also buy the cars. Rather than having to redo the race minimum 4 times to get all the cars and even then you probably will end up with a double.

That works I think doesn't it?

Likng the sound of that, i used to hate going back to do the race and wait with expectation of my new car only to end up with a double!!

ps, although i did kind of like the ranodmness, untill i ended up with something that was not to my liking!!

Have it random but with elimination - until you've won all of the cars on offer.

What was worse about the carousel - was that sometimes the carousel just had 4 identical cars on.

Before I get hounded I did do a search and got nothing.

Just want peoples oppinions on what prize cars we might find on this up coming editon of the worlds greatest driving sim.

It depends. If you're doing a chevy only event chances are that you will get a chevy. Same thing for Ferrari or anything else. I'm sure there will be some concept cars too as prize cars. Hopefully the carousel system from GT3 will return.
