Those pics of the ZR1... is that tire deformation?

Not sure if it has been noticed, or mentioned else where, but it sure looks like the tire flattens a bit as it hits the floor. Now, that could just be good modeling, and nothing more. But I wonder if that is a hint/sign that we might see tire deformation during game play. And if that is the case, I think I am more excited about that, then the Lambo's and Bugs! LOL. Kinda.

It's not real footage, but that is tire deformation. GT5 is now the best racing game ever produced by an even bigger margin.

Could be tire deformation as well as a 3D model of a tire slightly dipping into the 3D floor, which has always been appearing in threedimensional gaming.

Knowing PD, they never release anything with flaws, the will spend another year until its perfect. That's too obvious to be an accidental flaw.

I saw that the front tires show more deformation than the rear ones, which would point towards an actual tire deformation simulation due to the front engine and wider rear tires. And it's not like I wouldn't want that, I just thought we should consider all possibilities.

Agree...

But wait..

Yeah I wach checking these pictures out.. and it does seem like Tire deformation... Maybe in PSP GAME-PLAY version we wont see it, but likely in GT5 version... Seems like Front is nose heavy and with bigger tires in the rear and more air pressure and less weight.. its very possible and very realistic..

in FM3 tire deformation only work when car is turning.. I hope GT5 has that as well onto of stand still tire deformation or when driving in straight line.

I might be wrong on this one. But I think... This photo is done by professional camera man or crew.. Every little detail is in high stakes, So I think they pressure UP the tires so that they look good for the picture, but you can still notice bit of deformation.
By the way, WOW amazing modeling on the car!

Technically, if it were a glitch in 3D graphics, the cut-off piece of tire should be identical for all four wheels. So this might well be actual tire deformation.

Man Kaz is going all sorts of crazy for the ZR1...but I don't blame him, and agree with him saying American cars are exciting.

The deformation looks impressive, can someone post a Forza image to compare? My computer is being weird today.

@Nam67: Thanks for the image below, that looks really awesome for a PSP game!

Looks like PD is upping the ante with Turn 10.

That isn't a glitch there peeps, i just zoomed in at 200%, and i would say it's the exact amount of deformed rubber compared with the real photo.Fantastic tyre model there.

High res and while driving pic.. hard to tell..

Maybe there is no deformation on actual tire, but I know they have the numbers in data to simulate it and just penetrating the road a little to simulate it.

Could be CG though, the whole thing is a presentation render.
I dont care anyway, as long as the cars react realistic i dont really need visual tyre deformation.

I go for the "dipping in the floor" theory. There should be more shadow on the low side of the tire if it was actually deformed.

Not really, the entire car isn't neccisarily geenrating real time shadows.

My 3 theories (random order)
1 It is deformable.. What if they cant have shadows on tire deformation? bit complex of coding just for shadows for little surface ehh?

2 It could only be penetrating the floor with Glitch. But PD would never release a GLITCH PICTURE

3 It can be penetrating the floor but on purpose to simulate tire deformation and tire grip with higher and lower pressures..

Since PD would never release a pic with a glitch I was poking a bit for GT5P pics .. seems so far no pic has a tire punching through the pavement..
And there is no reason why PD would post a pic like that with crappy glitch.. there for the tire is DEFORMED

We all know that PD has done poor job with simulating tire grips.. I think now they have fix it with tire deformation there for different surface bites at speeds, corners, pressures.. etc

But then, all four wheels should dip equally, which they don't.

That could be a render engine error (measurement inaccuracy) or so, or maybe the model is just slightly rotated, or the wheels are not positioned on the same height (and no physics are working). Plenty of options :)

It should be darker without self shadowing too.

Or these are presentation renders they did for the press and they added a slight tyre deformation to make it look more real, which is the most logic thing to me.

Why would PD lie about feature and show it in presentation that wont make it in? hmm I think For PSP it wont be possible, but for GT5 it might .

Would be one hell of a coincidence to appear on a showroom render as well as an ingame render just alike though.

Well, why would they show a GT5ish car model on high res GT4 tracks as PSP pics?

i`d say that model was rendered in some 3d package rather than in the actual GT engine, from the looks of it odds are the back tyres are slightly higher than the front ones, so rather than pissing around rotating the car so that each tyre is perfectly on the surface they just put the back down so they are correct, then making the front tyres sink in to the groudn slightly, and it is only very slightly which would be acceptable in any 3d rendering,
