has now finished!

BMW 330, 135i, M3, CSL, GTR, M5, 2002; Chevrolet Camaro SS '10; Dodge Challenger; Ford Mustang GT, SVT Cobra R; Infiniti G35 Coupe, Sedan; Jaguar XFR, S-Type R; Lexus IS-F, IS200, GS300; Mercedes C63 AMG, E55, CLK55, 190E, CL600; Lotus Carlton; Nissan Skyline 350GT Sedan, Coupe, 370GT Coupe, GTS-T; TOM'S X540 Chaser; Buick GNX; Chrysler 300C; Holden Monaro, Commodore; Pontiac GTO 5.7; Toyota Altezza, Aristo, Soarer.

Front engine, rear drive, production passenger cars. True driver's cars. Good variety. Sports soft tyres. 520PP. Free tuning and modifications, but no aero mods (only stock wings). No aids except ABS.

EVENT INFORMATION:
NEW ENTRANTS SHOULD REGISTER RELEVANT INFORMATION IN THEIR POST, INCLUDING PSN USERNAME, CAR, AND CAR COLOUR.
Practice/qualifying (of however long we think we need), before a race of at least 40 minutes duration. False start check ENABLED, grip reduction REAL, penalties WEAK, damage OFF, tyre/fuel depletion ON. I won't patronise or bore you or insult your intelligence about the tenets of clean and fair racecraft - I'll assume you know how to behave. INFORMATION FOR ENTRANTS - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
The same car for the whole series. Car colour should not be changed during the series. You are entered into the championship table when you first enter a race, whether you are registered or not. Points will not be awarded if you use a different car during the series. A race must be completed fully (without disqualification) to achieve points. If two drivers are tied for points, precedence will be taken by he who has the most of the highest race finish results. Unsportsmanlike behaviour may result in a time penalty or disqualification from the round. Drivers who run prohibited aerodynamic devices will be disqualified. There are no non-participating stewards, so all drivers must report incidents themselves to the organiser (yours truly), with relevant details, including the time (or lap) and exact location. This includes corner cutting and hard contacts. Such reports will be treated with confidence. The organiser reserves the right to act as sole agent in making judgments and awarding penalties and disqualifications, but may seek the opinions of others in reaching a decision, especially on the severity of the penalty. Participation in the championship means agreement to these terms. These terms apply to all participants, including those who are not members of GTPlanet and are just PSN friends. Any issues relating to these terms must be raised before series commencement. Be aware that races may be rescheduled at any time during the season, and may even be at very short notice.

And yes, the championship winner will receive a prize. If the organiser is the winner, the second place driver will receive this prize instead.

Not to worry, I don't think any series would be started for a while. For the time being, I'd only be hosting spot races and test sessions.

Can the mods be anything up to 530PP are you looking for cars to be tuned up to tha or are they allowedto be tuned up and then detuned to meet the PP?

520PP is the maximum, after testing some of the cars. The G35 Coupe, for instance, only goes up to 512 or so. Of course there's no way to police any rule about it, but I'd prefer that power limitation is itself limited. Say, no more than 75% power restriction.
Beyond that, all tuning is free, but no Race Modifications, and NO aerodynamic body modifications (unless they are stock, as with the SVT Cobra). Cars basically look stock (except for wheels). Also, I think that soft tyres would be best for this PP level. I've tried hards, they tend to understeer...

Feel free to post any info you have on any eligible cars you currently own and have run/tested. It's very early days, remember...

Sounds good, wish i could join. Anyway, would just like to point out a major fault with this series. A saloon car by definition is a 4 door car with a flat-lay bootlid without a glass portion. Half the cars you have listed are coupes', by definition a 2 door with a flat-lay boot lid or a 2 door with a glass portioned hatch (often refered to as a coupe-hatchback).
So from your own list the only genuinly eligible cars for a Super saloon series would be :

I was curious as to why the 135i was on there, I always thought of that as a coupe. I might have a look through the UCD to see if there's any others I can find. Off the top of my head you've got the Honda accord, Audi A4/S4, some variants of the Subaru Impreza, VW Bora.

Correct me if I'm wrong with those cars (either with the version/version thats in game) as they are just from memory.

As I've come to understand, saloons aren't necessarily deemed to be 4-doors, but rather standard-type passenger cars which are not sports cars or GTs of the traditional type. This also includes hatchbacks. Those coupes listed in the OP are of the same DNA as the 4-doors. Granted, it is kind of a grey area (especially in the case of the M3, and Infiniti/Skyline coupes). These are basically saloon-based coupes - the 350GT is a very different car to the Z34, for instance. I should also point out that the Honda Integra (a 2-door) has run in the BTCC - a 'saloon' series. Someone might even argue that the Audi TT could be a 'saloon' (it ran briefly in the DTM). Also, for variety's sake I include those coupe models. Just think of it as a touring car series.

I also entered a series specifically for 4-doors, called MADCAB. Hasn't really taken off...yet... Variety is important.

xkubunt - I'm afraid only rear-wheel drive is permitted, no FF or 4WDs.

BTCC races (and DTM for that matter) are no longer based around the saloon ethos, merely production 2 litre(super 2000 and now NGTC regs') now hence why their is a mix of traditional 4 door saloon, 3 door coupes and 5 door hatchbacks. The only true saloon series that i can think of from the top of my head without researching is the Australian V8 supercars (Holden and Ford)

So the fact that some of the cars in your list actualy have coupe in their name instantly rules them out from the saloon car category (4 doors, flat-lay boot lid).

For the record:

Saloon = 4 door layout, flat lay bootlid with no glass portion.
Hatchback = 3 or 5 doors. 3rd or 5th door being the bootlid which creates a large enough opening to be clased as a door.
Coupe (coupe hatch) = 2 or 3 door . 2 door variations of the coupe theme include cars such as the M3 and Skyline GTS-t. 3 door coupes include cars like the Calibra and Audi TT

Hope this helps as it sounds like a great idea. Unfortunatly i won't be able to join as by that time the Mrs has commandeerd the TV so it's soaps and boring stuff, not racing ! :indiff:

Cool, that's fair enough. But despite the difference in door numbers, the saloon and coupe versions of a particular range will still have very similar handling characteristics. The Toyota Soarer, while being near-as-damnit a Grand Tourer, let's face it, isn't really up there with the Supra. Remember that this is early days, and after some testing I may remove some cars from the list if I deem them too naturally advantageous - for example, the CSL I'm quite reluctant to include at this stage. We'll see how it goes.

Perhaps I should rename the series "3-boxers"...?

Also, in classic car racing, they have "saloon" racing, in which Mustangs race with Minis...

Illustration: Once, in a PP limit race at the Nürb, I fought with and narrowly beat a well-driven Ferrari Scud in my Chaser "minicab"...
 
Haha, yeah i know how that feels; only yesterday i got a sound whupping at the Nurburgring. I was driving my M3 GTS replica (good thread on here about how to make it exact) and a very talented Japanese racer took 1st off me with no problem in a Toyota Tacoma pick up truck ! Couldn't believe the handling and speed of that truck (no driving aids on any cars), i really thought i had the win in the bag!
 
Hehe, but no no, I beat him!! I'm just saying, never underestimate a car just because it has 4 doors! :)

I'll run several different tracks, to test the different characteristics. Most likely Trial Mountain, Monza, and Nürb. Maybe we'll have a vote as well. See you then!
 
I can try, but dont know if my connection speed will be ok at that time of the day. I have problem with this.
