Community test for Clubsport Wheel: Round 1 - UPDATE

Submitted by Thomas on Wed, 02/15/2012 - 15:49.

The pre-production of the ClubSport Wheel (CSW) is about to start and we are looking for testers from the simracing community to give this wheel a decent workout. I am talking about the CSW base the BMW GT rim and the Formula rim.
Due to the big suceess of the CSR E community review I would like to do that again because the results are totally unbiased and professional reviews directly made by the people who know most about the product because they are the target group.
ROUND 1:
I would like to have as little influence as possible about the selection of testers so in round 1 we will look for community test managers (ctm).
ROUND 2:
The task of the ctm will be to open a thread in your community and ask who wants to participate in the community review of the CSW. The ctm will then pick 10 people which he thinks are most qualified. Reviewers of the CSR E cannot participate as reviewers this time but as crm.
ROUND 3:
The ctm will create another thread with poll so that the community can choose their favourite reviewers. We will provide one wheel per community. In some cases maybe more.
ROUND 4:
About 2 weeks after the last reviewers have received their products, the embargo will end and all reviews can be published.

More details will follow so let's start with ROUND 1:
Below is a selection of international simracing communities. If you are part of one (or more) of those communities and would like to become a community test manager you just need to post the following information:

  1. Name and link to the community of choice (you can make multiple posts if you want to apply for multiple communities)
  2. Member since:
  3. Amount of posts in this community:
  4. Link to a previous review or to a good post you made to show your qualification
  5. One short sentence to describe your qualification
If the community of choice is not listed you are welcome to suggest it but the following criteria is preferred:

  • Playstation 3 or PC related
  • Active and popular forum
  • F1 or BMW related
Here is a selection of forums which would be great to get covered.
As compensation for your efforts you also get a CSW with the 50% discount of the reviewers. You are welcome to make a review as well although this is not mandatory.

UPDATE
As soon as a ctm is selected, I will list the name of the user behind the link so that you know that this forum is no longer available.

This is a great opportunity for the GTPlanet community! If anyone would like to be a community test manager I suggest you head on over to Thomas's blog and post a comment as per the directions.

I'm confused. Those that were already selected as community tester prior to this are now out or at least need to go through the voting system again? Uhm...

sure? You contacted Thomas to remind him that he already selected you as one of the GTPlanet Community Tester?...

The way I read it is those on forums who were voted previously to review the CSR-E are not eligible to be voted to review the CSW but are eligible to submit themselves to be the test manager on their respective forum.

Yes, I believe your statement is correct, maybe.

That's how I understood it as well. This is clearly stated in his post.
Yay! I'm excited for the CSW.

I haven't. I think I will do that now.

I am not a CSR-E tester though, but CSW for gtp. Hence the question from my side.

Don't worry Logiforce, i believe that you'll get your CSW, once you reminded Thomas.

I don't worry guys. One way or another i'll play with it. I just prefer clear communication that's all.

Like I said. In some forums we will have more than one tester ;)

Point taken. Didn't know if you meant it like that. I blame my lack in language reading skills. Sorry :sly:

Then I wish all people good luck in the race 👍

thx for info

this time i would vote for any of the following as CSW testers (in alphabetical order ;))
- amf7
- Left888,
- Logiforce,
- Mayaman,
- Mr Latte
- Spagetti69

provided they are even interested to begin with lol

sry if i forgot others that contribute as well, i just did this top of my head, willl consider others if worthy :P

Hey thank you lunar wolf.

I am currently in hospital, it's 23:41 and in 19 minutes I am nil by mouth.

I have just enjoyed my last cup of tea and in the morning I have a muscle transplant from my lower back to replace a damaged deltoid muscle in my shoulder.

I am in a cast (which they made today) for six weeks henceforth.

Alas my testing days are numbered ATM.
Feel honoured you remembered me though mate. Thank you.

np hope you get well soon. anyway i dont think the wheels are ready to ship yet for testing?? i assume this is only the preparation phase. hopefully you will be operational when they are ready for testing

Could help for physiotherapy lol.
I think you would make a firm but fair reviewer yourself mate.

You don't pull any punches that's for sure.
People just want a good unbiased opinion and your capable of that.

not me m8,

i may not hold back the punches, but I haven't owned enough wheels to give a good assessment and i only play GT5 (may change w/ rfactor 2 TBC). also my writing is terrible ;) lastly i am not interested in testing. only thing that interests me is that Fanatec offers decent support, then i don't mind buying the wheel for full price (unless it's ridiculously expensive) - also with these toys, i find that a review at launch is only half the story. needs a couple of months before we get more reliable and in-depth feedback

just my 2 cents

I am already a tester anyway, so I won't be in the voting round. Expect my review already, mate. ;)
Also Mr Latte was a CSR Elite beta tester, so he's off the list as well according to the rules.

Also to another question I saw of you. Since there are different phases and taking into account how long it took to prepare the testers (voting on every forum and so on) I expect that it will take at least another month until the wheels will be send out. So roughly halfway through March, or at least somewhere in the second half of March. Reviews will likely appear a month later at the earliest, depending on customs again and so on. Which can be a pain like we have seen with the CSR and CSR Elite units that were send out. ;)

Hey thank you lunar wolf.

I am currently in hospital

Best of luck to you buddy, I know how difficult major surgeries are to go through and to recoup as well. Take care and if you need anything just give a shout.

Thanks for the vote of confidence LW, I would love to test the GT rim on Fanatecs latest.

Hey thanks for the nomination :)

I am getting a Fanatec Rennsport cockpit to join my dbox VR3. Just need to ad dbox to the Fanatec. I'll use the Rennsport as the testing platform for the CSR if selected.

Thanks guys

So, LF is already a beta tester, does this mean there will be 2 more people from GTP chosen for CSW review, making it 3 in total?

I'd like a be a tester, but ever since I switched to CST pedals, I can't even play GT5, so me being a tester for GTPlanet wouldn't make any sense really.

I am going to be open with you guys. I have just been asked by Thomas via mail if I would like to manage the test here on GTplanet. I just replied (5 minutes earlier then this post) that I would like to do it, but warned him about what you guys would think about this. I have yet to get a reply, but we'll see. I hope you guys do not mind but in the end it is of course Thomas his decision, as it are his wheels that he sends out.

Oh and ilonioum... it's community tester. Beta tests have just been concluded since Thomas will start pre-production. Which I wasn't part of. ;)

My bad, community tester NOT beta tester.

Yup yup... well its pre-production either way. I guess it indeed doesn't make (much) a difference. The product will be more complete. :indiff:
