This thread is for new racers, or racers from the k-car cup (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=257233)

Hello to all use this page to discuss the idea of racing are new series the 2CV and 500F cup.

Areas of discussion

  1. Tracks
  2. Laps
  3. Anything else you can think off
  4. Testing

This is what i have already though of.

But this is what i wanted to do, i was reading the 2cv racing website and thought we could follow their rules for both championships

http://www.2cvracing.org.uk/

  1. Fully tuned engine for both cars
  2. Racing Suspension
  3. Racing Gearbox
  4. Fully lightened
  5. Sports soft tires

Rounds 1 kart track 1 2cv/500f
Rounds 2 kart track 2 2cv/500f
Rounds 3 kart track 3 2cv/500f
Rounds 4 kart track 4 2cv/500f
Rounds 5 endurance track 1 2cv track 1
Rounds 5 endurance track 1 500 f track 1

Also I was thinking.
  1. keeping both the 500f and 2cv the same colour, like a racing team
  2. Racing on custom kart tracks, selected and created by us members

About tracks:

user created tracks is great I think, but we could use the tarmac Mt Aso and Toscana too to create those tracks and Eiffel also would be nice with weather change. Also kart tracks tend to be short and thin... I would like to see London for the speed races.

Having speed races great, and endurance too. In endurance I really would like to see Nurb Nordschleife in. It is a great track and with this cars it goes beautifully. apart of that some normal size races would be nice too, like 3 double speed rounds, 4 normal races (two for each cup) and two endurance (one for each cup).

Having two classes 2CV and 500F will keep things even. If just one is also fine for me, or maybe mix it all and balance the cars. I post here data from some equivalent - kind of - cars and a basic idea to get them even. That with a penalty in tires due to race classification could level things.

Ok, that all folks... just a few thing to bring some discussion

Cheers all

Can you get a premium 2cv as I hate driving standard cars? Although that doesn't mean I won't be racing

Unfortunately there are no premium 2CV... that would be sweet. From the list I posted just the Fiat 500F '68 and the Volkswagen 1200 '66 are premium.

Gutted, looks like I will have to get some practice in with the 2cv, endurance race sounds great fun, still think we should keep pitting in shorter races though as it goes towards strategy.

Yes thats why I think we should keep some normal length races too. But speed races sound fun too:tup:. So some speed, some normal and some endurance would be great. Anyway for the normal length races we would have to speed-up tire/fuel depletion because after last updates tires last longer and there was no strategy at all in pitting, like we had in the first races of the series where some people pitted even twice, and it worth sometimes in some tracks.

Me and cox have just been runningboth 500s together, he's got the edge on me at the moment. Need some tweaking.

Pitting made a big difference in my last race, got me well ahead, as well as my skills of course, lol.

Oh yeah my 2CV and 500 are beast just need to change the color scheme.

True, that would be good. I do like the idea of racing long enough to go through night and day as well as all weathers.

yeah i can turn up the fuel usage and tire ware.

Did you like my flyover cox? My suspension I think is key with the 500, do you run yours stiff setup cox or medium. ?

i think mines a little stiff, the 2CV is soft though. Also the gear ratio is key, a good set up will inprove acceleration.

Yeh I'm,struggling with gears aswell. :(

try making them short as possible without compromising top end, also make sure you use manual gears as well as setting the initial torque to 60 more acceleration from standstill.

Also sammo i told you it was a Sebastian vettel 2cv red bull x2012 :sly:

I recommend we run kart space, it is a fun track with these cars.

Good shout.. aceboy, Yeh cox I only use manual gears but proper struggling to get ratios right. May have to try different settings

Nice pic cox, how do I transfer pics from gt5 to hear?

what you need to do is go into photo mode in a replay then save a pic, once saved go to the picture option on the home screen, then export to xmb and then copyto a usb drive.

keep them as short as possible, set the top speed, then move the slider for each gear to the right all the way, this will improve acceleration., then just change the final gear.

Yeh know how to take pics just didn't know how to export them. Thanks for the gearing advice

I think we should poll vote on 3 different options

1. Run only the premium Fiat 500
2. Run only the 2CV
3. Round X @ X track 1 2CV & 1 500F

As for tracks I'm thinking having a 10-15 minute sprint race at a city course or a custom kart track, and then a 30-45 minute feature race at a real world course.

Another great idea for the finale endurance race is this: "Nurburgring 24H Layout / Time Change 6 Laps". KSE is ending their Championship with a big bang. If we are doing Fully tuned engine for both cars, Racing Suspension, Racing Gearbox, Stage 3 Weight Reduction, and sports soft tires and no ABS this would be really fun. But this would only work if we are using only ONE car, if we are using 2 in the same round then we would have to do a 1-2 lap race for each car.

By the way, me and sammo as well as 8 or 9 other people did a spec race with Fiat 500's in a public lobby. Really fun, except some ADR punks ruined the room by driving dirty and won that 500 race by shoving the guy in first into a wall.

Not to mention ADR has a bad rep among almost everyone outside that 3 letter acronym club.

I personally am well up for 500s, I just think they are brilliant to drive, mine even topped out at 119mph. Me and cox as well run on sports soft for a few laps and that certainly made things more interesting. Could even run on sports hard to. Like we could run on 1st tyre choice then when we pit, have to change to another sports tyre. Like in F1?. Sports hard, then sports soft. Just to put some more strategy in.

This does sound good, my aim was to run two sprints per week with a pit stop, then a two single endurance races over two separate weeks, that way we can run two separate championships.

I believe brugb mentioned something about running on an oval, I for one would be completely supportive of that. Also, I know the was mention of running some country based championships, I think this is a good idea, because it allows for people to run for other championships, while running for the main one.

I like that idea, but how would we set this up?

It is not complicated to set it up:

1) all races give points to main championship (lets call it "world championship" for example - WC...lol)

2) If we have 12 races overal we could have for example 3 in Europe tracks, 3 in American tracks and 3 in Asian tracks and three other from GT original tracks - Points in Europe tracks count for WC and Europe Cup; in american tracks for WC and Americas Cup and in Asian tracks for WC and Asia&Oceania (in my dreams...lol) cup.

So after racing the three european tracks you would have an european champion - which could give an extra point for WC too... or not - and the fight for WC would go on anyway.

We just have to keep a General Points table for the WC and three other tables for the regional cups.

:)
