The car: STRATOS Road Car (Check your PM "In-Box")

The Race: Rome Enduro ("Passage to Colosseo")

Thanx to Forum Member "Gil" for the format. It was unfortunately abandoned at another OLR Venue & I thought it "Perfect" for the Stratos: An "International" field on Lancia's "Home Turf"!

Adjustments are Allowable to: Suspension, Brakes, Trans & Diff.

Do NOT Change the Tyres!!! I've tried to solve the problem of the front tyres "Bumping-Up" thru the fenders & you probably won't see them in your replay unless you really "Slam" the suspension settings. DO NOT change the tyres to any other setting or they'll revert to the default size which are WAY Too Tall & will definitely pop thru the fenders!

DO NOT mess with the HP Settings!

The only other stipulations: Normal OLR Rules, The Clio and Griffith must both be on the track & NO Qualifying! Start from 6th!

Here's the Line-Up you'll most likely be facing. All except the Griffith have been treated to a diet & have about 100 more HP than our ride.

PHP:
Griffith 500 / 340 HP / T6
Clio Sport / 302 HP / T6 / Stage 1
Audi TT / 362 HP / T2 / Stage 3
Alfa 156 / 309 HP / T2 / Stage 2
Fiat / 300 HP / T2 / Stage 2
PLEASE Feel Free to discuss Everything EXCEPT final Race Time!!

DEADLINE: Wednesday 28 January 2004 / 8:00 PM CST

Loaded up, and will have a crack at this tomorrow afternoon.

Having already clocked a few hundred miles around the Rome enduro, this'll be a blast.

:D Yep! 👍 I expect You, "Pokie" & GoKents will be able to put a Lap on even the Griffith in 2 hours, but there should be loads of lead changes.

BTW: Beware of the Audi TT. Have no idea why he doesn't do better overall, but he's Very Fast on the Straights!

Nope! Pit Stops are up to you. Don't be afraid to share your strategy!!!...UB57 :D

:D IF there's enough interest in this one I'll try to work up a "Dirt" challenge as well. I really wanted to do another series, but don't have enough free time right now for all the research neccessary...UB57 :D

OK, you don't have to twist my arm; I can do that all by myself. ;)

Hey guys, wish I could run with everyone :9 but no PS2 currently. Good luck guys :D

Damn... Eggman is here. Well, that means GTBN is gonna sweep this one too. :(

:D

Heh. You must have me confused with some fast racer at GTBN. ;)

@UB: Thanks for the welcome. PM received, and car runs fine. :)

Good luck everyone!

Something I forgot to do during the Diablo Challenge was find out what controller everyone was using. Please PM me your info & I'll add it to the Chart. Thanx...UB57

First Report !
:D Too Cold to dig post holes for the new fence this AM so thought I'd run the race w/new lower HP.
Ave. T1: 31.5xx
Ave. T2: 1'06.5xx
Best Lap: 1'34.700
Pit Schedule: Every 7 Laps

I'm NOT a good tuner so the Chassis Set-up is very near Stock, "Tranny Trick" in use, LSD "Untouched" & Brakes near Max at both ends. Got a bit of understeer I'd like to dial out but for as light as it is and with such a short wheelbase the Stratos is surprisingly stable over the "Rumbles."

Reset my first try after 8 Laps as I "over compesated" for the reduced HP & had my Final Drive set too low. :irked: But did note something interesting. If you're BEHIND the Clio he'll go in w/Griffith at the end of Lap #5. If you're ahead by lap #5, he'll stay out 'till Lap #6!!! Late in the race he seems to pit w/Griffith again, after pitting on a 6 lap schedule for most of the race? Have FUN !!!...UB57 :D

PS: The Audi TT seems to have lost some of it's Bite. Will run the replay thru "MK's" ASAP to see what gives.

Well, I did it again. Handed the wife $150 and told her to go shopping. That gave me 2+ hours of uninterupted time.

As for lead changes, I have no idea how many there were, other than to say "all of them". Seriously, I was in and out of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for most of the race.

It all came down to me skipping my pit stop at lap 66 and pitting on lap 67. This skipped one pit stop on my 6 lap schedule. Handing me the win. I was sweating it the whole way. Yes, I did win. Barely. I walked away with 300k and a Vertigo.

The tendons in my thumb are hurting (probably damaged them again). I've racked up a fast lap in Free Run of 1'34.353, and a fast lap in the race of 1'34.733.

I'm done for the night, and hope to make it back on Saturday morning for another attempt.

Shes been pressuring me to get the GT Force Pro. We saw it in the game store the other day whilst she was checking out an Xbox. If I keep trying to catch UB, I'll have to.

Last time I stressed my thumb tendon was multiple attempts at the Tokyo Enduro. Ever try racing three hours only to miss your mark by 15 seconds?

And seeing what NoQuarter pointed out...

AHHH! Endurance!? Hrm. Well, I'll give it a shot. Now the problem is getting the X-Port to reach from PS2 to PC... I'll be back once I've run it.

Hey Goomba:
:D Since it appears you're only gonna have one shot at this I'll share my trans set up to save you a little tuning time. (Don't think the rest of my set-up would help, since I suck at tuning! ) Do the "Tranny Trick", set Auto to 18 & final Drive to 4.850, should have you peaked out at the end of both straights. 👍 ...UB57 :D

Whew! Decided to make a first effort tonight, and after about 1 hour, I'm sitting in 1st, in the pits, with the Griffith and Clio pitted right behind me...

It's been nip & tuck the whole way so far, with the Griffith leading the most laps. I've lead about 10 or 12 laps total so far, and the Clio has lead the remainder. I can catch the Clio, but I can already see that I'll have to outpit the Griffith to beat him...

Pit Strategy: Every 7th lap
Avg T2 around 1:06.9
Best lap, so far 1:35.3

Awwwww Rite NoQuarter ! 👍
:D Glad to see someone else besides DerAlta & I having a close Race! I expect to see at least three of our entrants come close to lapping the field but if I'd have made it close for them (& you KNOW WHO YOU ARE!) the rest of us wouldn't have had a chance of winning! :irked: ...UB57
