No Problem KeL: 👍
:D There's still about 60 hours 'till Deadline. PM me if you have any glitches...UB57 :D

THANX phattboy: :O
:D But I just run the same basic set-up for all my rides & I think it just "Happened" to work out well for the Stratos.
You know the old saying: "Sometimes you get the Bear - Sometimes the Bear gets YOU!!!"...UB57 :D

Well, after my great start Friday, I blew the race on the last lap. I had the Griffith by about 2 seconds, and decided to squeeze one more lap on cherry tires...sure enough, he caught me, at the turn at the end of the back straight. Spun me out and went for the checkered flag. :banghead:

Saturday, I reran the race. The initial effort really taught me the line, and by about halfway, I had the lead for good (though the Griffith did continue to dog me once or twice more)...the Clio was no problem, and seemed to drop off the pace once I had a 30 second lead on him...

Fastest lap : 1:34.304
Avg T2: 1:06.3

First Place!

Excellent Race, UB...the most fun against the AI I've had in quite a while! ;)

Time submitted...

Thank You !!!
:D Wouldn't be any FUN at all without the Great bunch of Racers we've attracted. Time received & recorded...UB57
:D

PS: Couldn't agree more about the AI. While it would be even MORE FUN if more than just the Griffith & Clio were "Quick", at least they don't drive so stupidly like a lot of other venues. :irked:

I do know this old saying and when I think about it, I wonder how it got to be an old saying.

Now if it said, "Sometimes you get the bear - but you're pretty much done for if the bear gets you...":(

Or, "Sometimes you get the bear - but one time the bear gets you..."

Or maybe even, "Sometimes you get the bear - but..." (bear heard contentedly chewing in the background)

By the way, back on topic: I haven't sent my time in yet cause I'm debating running it just one more time... my last time with your settings, I saw the griffiths toto on lap 72... This race is so much fun I might just give it another go if I can find the time.

Also, I did have a newbie question... In the rules for the race you said the Griffith and the Clio must be on the track and then you listed who we would likely be up against. I had the Clio and the Griffith but not all the other guys you said would likely show up and I assume that is okay???

Me Thinks we've found another "Enduro Enthusiast" !!! 👍
:D YES, it CAN be Addictive!!! I think I've run Gil's original race (W/MR2) twice, two "Tests" w/Stratos to adjust HP, & two "Real" attempts in the last week. Gotta try it One More Time as I had more than one "Brain Fahrt" on the last attempt....UB57 :D

Looks like I won't have time for another attempt at this one, so I sent my time to ya UBeeeee :)

Thanks for the heads up on this one, t'was lotsa fun as always! Best 'o luck to everyone

Fourth (& probably FINAL) Attempt:
:D I know lots of you are facing Much Worse Weather this morning, so won't complain too much about 21 degrees here today. (Twas 74 two days ago!) Too cold to work in the yard however, sooooo... I made a concerted effort to dial out the Understeer that's been pestering me & Raised the Final Drive a bit in search of a little more top speed. Was quite disappointed that I only managed to find about 4-5 Seconds my last attempt, so w/clinched teeth I set off in pursuit of the Griffith & Clio. Crossed the Finish Line after 2 hours of racing with only 1 second to spare again, but this time it was over the Clio, keeping him a Lap down. Took off about 43 more seconds so I had a 1 minute 18 second lead over the Griffith! About 16 seconds shy of lapping him I figure. :irked: Stats pretty much like those in Post #18 except I lowered my "Best Lap" to 1'33.901. "Almost" beat my test run made w/205HP & soundly trounced the first test time, done w/211HP!!!...UB57
:D

UB you picked an excellent race here!!! My hat is off to you!!!

WHAT A BLAST!!!

I submitted my times of my last race to you and saved the replay.

I don't mind telling you the guy in the bubble car with the funny hat didn't pass me this go-round. My best lap of 1'33.938 was a little slower than my last attempt but I was focusing more on consistency this time.

I used your settings with a slight mod of bumping up the LSD (man that sounds bad) to 10/50/20 so it would straighten up a bit quicker coming out of the tighter corners where you need to slide the butt a little for additional steer. I also took the final drive to 4.880 just because it gave me 123mph by the end of the back stretch.

Griffith ownage on his lap 70 in the pits.

Thank you very much slowpoke for giving me the clue to make sure I had the griffith down before the end of lap 4 if you want the win + a lap.;) (That way I didn't waste the next 69 laps):p

I suppose I should get started on this race! You should have my time in a few hours UB.

UB I done the race! Took me 3 and a half hours to get it completed, to then realize there was no Clio in the line up :banghead: I did get the Griffith though :D

I'm submitting the time to you anyway ... (lol time) I mean laps and stuff :p sorry but I won't be able to do that one again! Even though it was fun.
Best lap was 1'34.285 :O

No Problem Kel:
:D In a coupla the "short" tests I did the BMW or another car seems to take the place of the Clio. Looking forward to receiving your time...UB57
:D

Other Entrants:
About 11.5 Hours 'till Deadline !!!

I keep telling myself that Rules are Rules...

Last night my son wanted to see how the ole phattboy faired in his efforts so we loaded up the replay to watch a little of it.

Here is what I noticed:

When threading the needle (during my first set of passes on the last three AI in the double left after the front two straightaways) what had felt like incidental contact to me from inside the car during the race, actually looks like I tee'ed off on one of the AI when you watch it from the outside in the replay.

When I sucked up on the Clio in preparation for my first effort at passing, he smacked his brakes in an odd spot entering the corner and I gave him an accidental but somewhat "spirited" bump in the heiney. He quickly recovered and my subsequent loss in speed caused a "not passing this time", "catch back up with the Clio for half a lap" situation. None the less... from the outside looking in, it looks bad.

When I saw the opportunity in the sweeping right before the back straight on the 3rd lap to make a pass on the griffith, I took it as he swung wide onto the rumble. I scrubbed him as I slipped alongside. Now in my defense, my subsequent loss of speed allowed an immediate repass by the griffith and it took me nearly a full lap to catch and pass him again. Still...

In addition, while trying to find the fastest line and get in that grove, there are a couple of miscalculations or thumb twitches that resulted in either a wall smack or somewhat liberal use of the rumble areas. In the Stratos, in this race, you so much as touch the wall, YOU pay the price in loss of speed and time. Still...

The point is, I can't honestly say my race was squeaky clean. Based on that and in the spirit of maintaining purity to the sport of OLR, I think I have to disqualify myself from contention in this particular race. I don't think I will find the time to run it again before the deadline.

Although, I would like to hang out to see how it fairs.

I am still having fun!!! and will likely run this again at some point just to make sure I can do it "squeaky".

phattboy

My two cents on the lack of Clio:

I agree with UB, In my early "test runs" I didn't feel like reloading to get the right lineup and ended up against the Griffith with the BMW and no Clio. The BMW in that race is a terror and every bit as fast as the Clio.

He sucks when the Clio is there though.

Not to Worry phattboy: 👍
:D I go to great lengths to make sure we stay "In Traffic" as much as possible. Requiring running 70+ Laps at a good clip w/No Scrubs (either Wall or AI) would ruin the Spirit of my races! Send me your replay if you like & I'll take a look at it but "Squeeky Clean" isn't one of my priorities...UB57 :D

BTW: Although this race features some of the best "AI" Drving in the game, they do take a few "Unusual" lines in spots!!! :irked:

:D Here's a foto of a recently aquired 1/43 Scale Model of the Stratos "I WISH" we could run !!! ...UB57 :D

That being the case, then I'm still in!

With the added comment that after watching the replay posted by slowpoke, I'm pretty sure his race is squeaky! Man is that guy smooth... Load him up and chase him around the track a few times and you have an eye opener for sure.

  "Eye Opener Indeed"!!!
:D From viewing his replays during the Diablo Series: Watch a "slowpoke" replay sometime, followed by one of mine. I look like a "Drunken Sailor" in comparison!   ...UB57 :D

   Drunken Sailor

After watching him in that replay, I think I know how you feel. For the same sort of comparison you describe, I think when I get home tonight I will figure out how to post the "fast lap replay" of myself that I chased around in free run in an effort to improve my consistency. I shoulda been chasing him.

Here's a photo of my slightly less cool Stratos in the PAL version of GT3. The mechanics of the car are identical to those you NTSC boys and girl are running, but the body looks a little more ungainly.

First run completed, using Slowpokes settings, thx SP. A rather nice car able to run away with the race despite the horsepower disadvantage.
