Thanx for the note 1989therat: 👍
:D Actually PAL version Cannot access the Stratos Or the Diablo. I thought Maybe you could access it with the .ini I sent you thru your Gameshark. Find a "Sharkport or X-port" & a whole slew of "Hidden Cars" will be yours w/only a few mouse clicks...UB57

Thanks for the tip! Hopefully I can get the car tunned and ready to race tonight or tomorrow.

I've attached a Free Run replay for those that would like one. Although it's not clean, you'll get the idea (1:33.9xx I think).

I tried this race yesterday, and had some pretty good success for the first half. Then the interuptions started, and it took all day to finish the race! Needless to say, what lil bit o' rythem I had was lost! The Mrs. is going away for a few hours this afternoon, I'll try again then.

Here are the settings I used in that Free Run (above). The only change I'll make to it will be to make the Final 4.500, and shift at 7000 rpm instead of 7500. (I wish we could copy/paste from MKS!) I hope this helps :)

***[EDIT]***
After some further testing, shift at 7500 rpm, and change the Final to 4.450.

You can only get the Stratos unlocked on the NTSC (North American) version of GT3. And only if you have a Sharkport. Guess you're double screwed this time.;)

UGh... Got kicked in my latest attempt. I adjusted my shifting point and my pit schedule. Shift at 7000rpm and pit on a 7 lap schedule. This may have hurt me overall, as I finished second place, a mere 0.090 ahead of the Clio.

My pit schedule was 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 55, 61 and 67. This worked out optimum for the 73 laps. The bad news is I came in 9.284 seconds behind the Griffith. That's 0.127+ seconds per lap that I was off. I'm not sure where to account for it. I think what I can do is adjust the transmission to match closer to the 7000 rpm shift point. This doesn't quite feel right for me, as the car is set up quite good as is. My fast lap was a bit slower this time around 1'35.292 so that could account for something.

I've run this little beast 431.7 miles, so it's time to load it back to the comptuer and "refresh" it. I was down to 190hp at the finish line. I've got some time to think about it before I run it tomorrow.

Of course, considering the tendons in my thumb were in pain by lap 23 could also account for some of it. By lap 50 i was getting twinges of pain when I hit the brakes. By the finish line, It was stabbing jolts of pain to go from gas to brake and back.

Well, I've got one more shot at running this tomorrow. We'll see if I can adjust the transmission later tonight and possibly shave some time off tomorrow.

Thanks UB for a Great little race idea!

Hey "CFM": :odd:
Just peekin' in or are you gonna join us?

@ BigJamesGTI : Thanks for checkin' in, sorry you can't get the Stratos in the PAL Version. :irked:

@ Der Alta AKA "Der Alta 2": Time to get a WHEEL! You're makin' me feel guilty :( for "Luring" you into all the Enduros we've done together!!!

@ slowpoke: Thanx 👍 for posting you settings! Maybe because of my BRIEF experience driving the real thing, I run the little Dino V6 (YES, for those of you who don't know, the Stratos was actually FERRARI powered) right up to the rev limiter.

👍 Very Happy all who've checked in are having FUN !!!...UB57 :D

UBee, I may be wrong about the shift point, but from what I saw as the HP dropped from dirty oil, she just didn't want to pull as well above 7k rpm's. I'll try a little test and report back.

:D You're definitely right about that! 👍 The HP falls off badly the last few laps. Maybe I'll try "Short Shifting" her next time I run it. BTW: Have you located a "Squash Ball" yet?...UB57

For me it's like phattboy sittin in a bathtube on castors running aroung the streets of Rome. Sort of embarassing at 1'35.Bigxxx to 1'36.xxx. Even the Italian women are laughing at me. But the real kicker was when this guy with a funny hat standing and slowly waving at the crowds in a car with a bubble on the top just passed me on the front straight. (I checked my database, it isn't in the PAL version either.)

I'll get it though... If I can just catch that guy in the bubble car, maybe he can lay hands on my settings or something.

Alright there ! Thanks for my mention - even though I cant race - boo !! Send PM if you arrange another series

it was good racing with you in the F1 series !

 phattboy

I edited my earlier settings to show a SR change to 6.0/6.0, and the Final is now 4.450. Test lap #3 had me 0.400 seconds ahead of my 39.9 ghost, but blew it in the next to last corner. D'oh!:banghead:

Yes UBee, I did pick up the hi-tech add on for the MOMO pedals. What a pleasure it is to feel the brake pedal again! I owe you one! Next time you're in Michigan, I'm buyin'!

Second Attempt: Since slowpoke's" settings were such an "Eye-opener" for me during the Diablo Series I thought I'd give 'em a try here. Gave up after 15 Laps as I just couldn't "Find the rhythm." Of course the fact that I've run over 300 Laps with my own " whacko" set-up might account for some of the problem.

Third Attempt: Reloaded my own settings & set off in pursuit of the Griffith & Clio. Last time I was only 3 seconds shy of completing another lap, so my goal was to add a lap to my prvious best. Crossed the Finish Line after 2 hours of racing with only 1 second to spare so I made up a "Whopping" four seconds! Stats pretty much like those in Post #18 except I lowered my "Best Lap" to 1'34.197. Since I know my chassis tuning skills "Suck" I've always been reluctant to share them but someone MIGHT find something here to help out.

Sucks to be me...

My first serious attempt at this I just gave it up to the Griffith by 3.39 seconds. AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!

I think I can find a few seconds in 73 loops but I don't think anyone here has worry about me spraying any champagne on them when this is all over with.;)

By the way slowpoke, thanks for the replay/settings post... were it not for that, I don't even think I would have gotten within a 20 second window. A pretty good setup that almost suits my driving style. As it was, only a couple of minor tweaks on your setup got me to within the 3 seconds that I did this time out.

Since I'm fairly new with manual transmission, I think I am going to give my final go with an automatic.

Welcome phattboy!

As a fellow "newb", with less than a year at this OLR stuff I can say you may not win, or even place in the top half, the first few races, but it sure is loads of fun, and you learn tons along the way.

Happy Racing! 👍

Just lurking for now...I will probably come out of hibernation shortly.:D

Then I shall lay the smacketh downeth:trouble:

C'mon CFM, get down outta the Lounge and hit the track! :)

Hit the track for my second full attempt this morning, makes a BIG differance w/o all of those interuptions! In my first attempt, I pitted every 8 laps, but with the higher Spring Rates, I could only manage 7 good laps between stops (too much slidey the buttendski ;)). Had many laps in the 1:33's, with a best of 1:33.296  . The kicker was that I had some T2's 0.2 seconds quicker than that lap, only to fail miserably! :banghead:

I passed the Griffith for the lead on the 4th lap, and for the final time on the 70th lap while he pitted. T'was a good race UB :D

KOOL !!!
:D You fulfilled at least part of my prophecy that You, GoKents & GT3mich would probably Lap the leader! Best I've managed so far is about a +40 second MOV...UB57
:D

Okay, I'm done. Even though it was a long endurance race, it held my attention for most of it. Excellent line up. I couldn't get a full lap on the Griffith (who came in second).

Best lap was 1'34.422. I had no pit strategy. I missed it one time, forgot about it another.... It was just horrible. The tires really seemed to start lasting with the last two pits. It seemed like I got a good 20 or 25 laps on two sets of tires.

I used your settings UB, thanks a bunch! They worked well, until that damn driver-side rear got tired. :D

Thanks for the encouragement. I look at these times above me and think, "NO WAY AM I GETTIN' THERE this time!!!" I can't even beat the stupid griffith by more than a second. In three trys, I've lost, lost and blocked him for the win.

I see by your location we are neighbors.

So this afternoon, I'm thinkin', "How in the world are those guys doin' than and what in the Sam Hill am I doin' wrong here? Do I gotta change the color of the car or what?!?"

So I load up the thing and decide to give the "Old Geezer's" settings a shot. My son comes in and starts asking me questions about what I'm doing and the like. I'm backing out of the settings area and my son (looking at the screen) says, "Geez Dad, you gotta do a 2 hour enduro against the griffith with only 195 hp car?" My head snaps up and I realize what I have been doing wrong.

:banghead:What a bonehead!!! :banghead:

Way back at the beginning, I had been thinking I was being all strategic by setting the car up for the last part of the race when I started all this. So I dropped off the computer. Got what I though were some pretty consistent times with that that I could live with. Set the thing to pause... went and had dinner and came back and started the race. Lost to the Griffith (and etc. for like three times.)

Did I mention? :banghead: What a bonehead!!! :banghead:

Anyway, now that I have consequently run the race again (with 203 hp and UB's settings since I was there anyway), seems I faired considerable better... didn't quite lap the griffith(close) and managed a best lap of 1'33.538.

Now, I don't think UB that all of that difference came from just 8 HP so maybe you don't suck at setup so bad after all?

UB I said I would run this, and I will, but I need help getting the car :dunce: I have MK's I have the game save backed up ...now what do I do with the ini file? :D

EDIT: I found Famine hybrid guide, should be able to get it done easily enough now :D

Ok, I done it! as soon as I get some housework done I will sit down for 2 hours and run this race 👍

Oh no, there goes the neighborhood! ;) :)

Welcome aboard Kelly, it's been a long time since we've hit the track together (TORC ?) :). It's a fun little race, but ya gotta watch out for the old dude in the Bubble Top Car! :o :D

It has been a long time! it's good to be back on the track, Thanks Slowpoke :)

I just checked out this little car and took it for a few warm up laps, it's a nice drive indeed! I'm sure I'll have fun with this race ;) It's just a pity my MOMO doesn't work properly and isn't set up, it would have been ideal for this race :irked:

I'll be sure to ram the old dude in the bubble top car off the road :trouble: :p
