...and now for something completely different....

From 12AM July 15th to midnight July 21st, Las Vegas Dragstrip is hosting the first annual Type R event. This is open only to production FWD Honda vehicles.

The catch is that the strip is equipped with a on-site dyno. SO - your horsepower shall not exceed 300. 300 is fine, 301 isn't.

ABSOLUTELY NO NOS!!!

The way we will be measuring HP (Thanks PD) is by going into settings. From there, CLICK on the horsepower and torque graph. The number on the left is the number we will be using. This means that you can safely bump your car up to 305 horse or so in the tune shop.

I have been supplied with a list of eligible cars (Thanks German_Muscle for helping with this). They are:

Acura Integra Type R '01
Integra Type R (DC2) '95/'98/'99
Integra Type R (DC5) '03
Accord Euro-R '00/'02
Civic Type R (EK) '97/'98
Civic Type R (EP) '04

If you have any concerns about whether a certain car is legal or if you think another car should be allowed, please post it in this thread or pm me. Don't even think about running another car without it being cleared. If I have omitted a model year but it's the exact same car and name as the others, PM me and it will be cleared.

Due to the hp limit, if you win you MUST post what horsepower modifications you did to your Honda. Again, no use of NOS is permitted this week.

Feel free to share 'insights' and tuning tips, as well as what car you are using. I don't even know which one will be fastest :dopey:

As always, you can either post in this thread or pm me your time. If you win, you are required to post your full setup, for the benefit of us all to learn from you.

Verification is not necesarry, but it is advisable to save your replay and settings after you complete your best run.

RESULTS

Congrats everyone on very tight competition 👍
Deuce, please post your full setup in this thread *prays that you wrote it down*

Hmmmm... this should be interesting....

So, basically, those cars, no NITROUS, and no more then 300hp on the dyno graph.

At least that leaves tires open, I would have been a bastard and said N3's, bahaha.

Exactly.

I currently have a 13.481 with my DC2, I'm sure a half second could be knocked off for sure.

The Accords seem slower than the Integras, haven't tried out any Civics yet.

my current is 13.141 Still got alot of bugs to work out. My car of choice is the 1998 Honda Integra Type R DC2 in Nighthawk Black Pearl :)

Yeeeeeeesssssssssss!!!! thank you kenny, my favourite cars! good set of rules you got there to, i think i'll try the acura integra type-r first (since that will be by next real car) well it will be a honda integra type-r but it has the front end of the acura in the game! (dont know why??? european models i think)

the honda integra came with round (USDM) style headlights in japan for 1 year. those crazy Japanese didnt like it, so they went to the rectangular front end that most are used to now.

i actually prefer them, i think the round headlights are stunning!

Am I correct in saying all modifications are allowed except NOS? ex.. tires, diff, tranny, etc?

Keep horsepower at 300 or less.

I like the variety! Thanks for the race kenny.

Hey Kenny, can we use Tuner cars, such as the spoon civic/integra? I wouldn't exactly count the tuner cars as production, but just wanted to know if we could.

Cars with a (U) are used and had the oil change and refresher plan installed, other than that, all cars are bone stock. To make each test was consistant and to remove as much human error as possible, the tests were run in automatic, and the gas was pushed before the countdown started, so the overall times will be slower, but this does reflect which cars are faster stock. Expect a HP increase only test later.

The Civic at the bottom is my current car for this drag. The car is completly untouched except for adding HP mods, a clutch, and flywheel.

*Horsepower in chart is the horsepower shown at the car selection screen under the Power category in the garage.
**The dyno HP is 300

Sorry for the double post. My chart kept turning out wrong so I had to printscreen it and turn it into an image 👎 .

Yeah. It wasn't hard. Finding the used cars and "restoring" them was the hard part. I'm still looking for the Acura and '98 Civic though.

Kenny was right, the Integra's are consistantly faster than the accords, but the '04 Civic isn't bad either. Whenever I work out how to tune that piece of crap I'll post a time. So far my fastest was a 13.2xx

EDIT: Finally tuned the Civic and got a 13.139. Ironically, by tune, I mean I've done almost nothing to it.

Canoe - yes, you are correct.

Darkwind - I'd prefer not to run the tuner cars, I'm assuming they will be faster than the other normal Hondas... so I'm going to keep the eligible cars the way they are.

Good work on the table! I'll have to try out some Civics today.

I must admit I don't quite know how to setup the FWD cars :dopey:

I'm very close to breaking 13.1's in a DC5...with a 300hp cap, it's all about getting the lightest car possible, so I'll try out a Civic.

Current time - 13.113

I think breaking 13's is possible in this car, just with ALOT of tuning....I'm going tune a civic to these settings and see what I can get.

299hp, and 200ft/lbs DC5

I was just wondering if they were eligible. I've already had my mind(stubbornly) set on running the civic I have been running.

A tip for tuning: Since most of the Type Rs can use turbo and NA tune up, ALWAYS go with the NA tune, even if it doesn't give as much HP as the turbo(and if you can't get close to 300 HP get a new car). This is because NA tuneup doesn't need to be powered up like a turbo does, since the NA tuneups are basically adjusting engine specs.

Also since its a FF car, squishy nose, stiff butt. NO BALLAST!!!!!

Ok, let me start by saying, I hate Honduh's.

However I don't mind the intergra's to much.....but I hate Civic's.

My current time is 13.095. I guess when I was 13.1's my tuning was closer then I thought.

I'm sure breaking 13's is possible...but It would have to be in a Civic, and I hate them so I stuck to my DC5. (which I also don't like, it's the 2g's and the J-spec 2-3g tegs that I like)

So, my time Is 13.095...it took ALOT of tuning to break 13.1's in my car...I'm in the procces of moving and stuff with the g/f so If I get more time I'll start over on a Civic.

However the good (light) Civic's have a ****tier powerband because they're only 1.6L's....so they make no torque....Maybe I'll try a older Teg...they're only 10lbs heavier.

What's everyone else pulling off on the strip?

my newest times will be revealed when I do my next set of testing. I'm off work so I'm going to start my second round of testing. The cars 400m with as close to 300 HP as possible. However it'll be two charts now, one for NA and one for turbo.

Manage to test 2 cars so far:

<<< All my cars are equipped with Oil change / Car wash / GT wing and any none HP upgrades including stage 3 weight reduction and R5 tires >>>

Honda CIVIC TYPE R (EP) '04
NA: Stage 3 / Exhaust: Sports. 301HP (296)
13.062

Honda INTEGRA TYPE R (DC5) '03
NA: stage 3 / Exhaust: Sports. 299HP (295)
13.023

looks like im still in teh lead. keep tuning guys, as you can see tuning and setup is very critical on these cars.

Every car equipped with Racing Exhaust, Port Polish, Engine Balancing, Triple-Plate Clutch, Racing Flywheel, Weight Reduction 1, 2, and 3.

The above equip shows the tuner cars as having lower than should be HP because of equipping every car with the same parts. If certain parts were not used with the tuner cars, they easily reach and exceed the 300 HP limit. But they aren't legal to use anyway. They are just there for fun.

Note: Any Torque with a .xx is taken from the dyno graph.

I removed my car from the chart since I haven't gotten to run anymore since my last posted time.

Nice work guys! I'm glad that the Integras and the Civics are so close to each other, I would have been disappointed if one car was clearly better than all the others and then you all flocked to it :(

I'm gonna run some more now :)

Oh - and how open are you guys to doing a points system? If you guys like, we could start issuing points, top 10 get points, 10,9,8....

Using a points system has pros and cons. Pros are that it gives you something to look forward to if you are typically fast, and you feel a greater sense of accomplishment. It also can encourage people to race more often. However, it tends to drive away some people and you lose the feel of laid back racing. With a points system, people would be more adamant about verification, also.

I would create a poll but then other people who haven't even raced yet would be voting.

To be honest either way is fine with me. How do you feel?

lol This isn't like week 13 of the WRS Kenny. Luckily there is no clear R390 Road Car

However you may all stare in awe at my amazing time of:

'13.058 in my Honda Civic. However that NSX-R is starting to look like it needs to be converted to mid engine Front wheel drive so it can compete

Also, I'd like to see how fast someone can get the accords. From my second test one accord beats out a few of the other cars so they have potential.

This looked interesting so I decided to give the Civic Type R (EP) '04 a spin.

After an hour or so of tuning I've got:

12.999 :D

bleh.......evil iceman.... *sigh* back to the drawing board. BTW, I'm currently using only 3 gears in the Civic. FINALLY, a true drag racing tranny!!!! lol

I tried 3 and 4 gear setups but the 3 gears came up short by about 20 hundreths of a second. Not much, but enough in drag racing.

I'm going with the 3 gear run since a 4 gear run would have me upshift right before i cross the line, thus murdering the 20hundreths it'd gain

Do you know how to move the final drive and such to stop that from happening? You could either lengthen the final drive or just 4th itself and that wouldnt happen.
