I hope that's the sign on a big monster to fight....
I don't care if its just a boss and not a fighter like the rest, we just need something very big to take down because the normal soldiers tend to get boring to kill.

So...Halo 3's gonna use the Doom 3 engine..

How....wonderfully..dated
How is it using its engine it looks much better, then the doom 3 engine. Also games do change engines over time like Prey did mate.

The pic is reportedly a fake (according to gamespot). Don't worry, Halo3 will look better than that. The gun in the pic even has such low res textures it couldn't possibly be from a next gen 360 game, LET ALONE Halo 3. Most likely the scene is created in some PC level editor for Doom or whatnot and the gun pasted in from some pic of Halo2. Besides, Bungie are screwed down tighter than a rats bum - a leak would never happen that could jeopardise revealing Halo3 before they'd even announced the game is in production...

Computer and Video Games is a well knowen source over here in the UK, its mag gets brought by a lot of people.

Yeah, I like C&VG, but anyone can get it wrong. I mean, who wouldn't be excited to find a "leaked" pic of Halo3 and publish it? They're just a bit slow at catching on that its a fake.

Anyone have any more information on Halo 3? I still enjoy Halo 2 from time to time and really look forward to seeing Halo 3.
Please no spamming Halo haters in here.

Bungie.net had to discredit several of the "leaked" photos that have poped up, most noteably one that surfaced on Gamespot.com, and also IGN.com (if I remember correctly). Turns out the image was a concept piece from Halo 2 that has been available for download from Bungine for almost two years now, so, unless Bungie or Microsoft shows something, its probably a fake.

It can be assumed:
- Halo 3 takes place immediately after the ending of Halo 2, as several levels were cut from the end of Halo 2 because of a tight launch schedule.
- Gameplay will be focused more uppon Earth, as the war (presumably) as moved twards the UNSCMC headquarters now that the Covenant knows where Earth is.
- The Covenant Elites may be allied with Humans after the events twards the end of Halo 2, but that cannot be said for sure.

...Weve only got a few more weeks to E3 in May, so I'm sure much of the confusion will be cleared up by then.

Thank you!!!

I remember when they told us there would be a lot of Earth levels in Halo 2....yeah, right.

The Earth battles are my fav. part of Halo 2, and to have more on the 3rd will get a buy from me.

Earth was the ONLY good part of Halo2, the rest just seemed like Halo1. It's a fun game, but i think it got over credited. The library is probally the least fun in both Halos, it all looks the same, i hate the flood, and well I JUST WANT TO KILL THAT STUPID BLUE THING THAT FLYS!

Halo 2 was focused mainly for the multiplayer online. The single player was just ok. If your going to spam about the single player, it is completely worthless and your wasting your breath. We dont want to hear it. We know the single player is weak. The multiplayer is where all the fun was. If you dont like halo 2 just get out. Its that simple.
NOW BACK TO HALO 3. :sly:

...I wonder if the folks at Bungie will tinker with the idea of multiplayer squad combat in a campaign like what you can do in GRAW. I've always wanted to play as a regular Marine (or Helijumper) under the command of the 'Chief and have to work with my squadmates to get through the urban combat.

We will see, we will see...

That would be awesome. My girlfriend and I linked our xbox systems together and went thru the single player. That was soo fun. If they did that like you said online it would make it even better. I doubt Bungie would ever do it though because the multiplayer matches online are soooo good that the campaign would get boring after you beat it a couple times. Unless they made it exactly like GRAW where you could set the amount of guys that attack you.

I forgot where I read it...Maybe game informer..but what I got out of the article was that..Halo 3 aint gonna happen..

bungie is going to make a different project before the series is finished.

HAHA! That will pis off a few of my friends that are soo ubsest with Halo, it ain't even funny. There like zOmG! i g0t li3k 29 gRuT5 in 2 5Ho75 W/ t3h w0cK37 w4nCh4!!!!!!!11!!!1!

Bungie would be insane to not do Halo 3. There has been talk about "Project Forerunner" which is presumed to be a prequel to the origional Halo: CE. Bungie has not said anything about anything other than their new title is playable, and would be ready for E3 in May...

My guess: Halo 3 is on the way, but it might not come in November as previously expected. It would be nice to see Halo 3 open up against the PS3, but it probably wont happen. It would probably be a better business model for Microsoft to launch Halo 3 in the summer of 2007 to coincide with the release of the Halo film.

I would venture a guess, and say that the majority, if not all of the levels are going to be based on the defense of Earth from the Covenant. I would expect some globe-hoping in the campaign, defending cities like NYC, Paris, Tokyo, etc. Combat is going to probably be urban in most cases, but I wouldnt rule out some rural maps as well. The levels are going to be dependant on squad-based tactics, and with the improved AI possible on the 360, a system similar to GRAW or Rainbow Six may be included.

The possibility of a multi-line story may also be possible, but I would expect it to be more of a multipe-campaign system than jumping from character to character like in Halo 2. Obviously there would be the 'Chief, possibly the Arbiter (if the Elites ally with the Humans), and a storyline about a small Marine troop seems likely as well... I would like to see a story about a human civilian uprising, but that will probably not happen.

Considering that this is indeed Microsoft's biggest cash cow, there is no way in hell they would ever cancel Halo 3.

Halo 3 demo eyes Live?

Rumours hit the web suggesting Bungie might make us pay for a demo early next year...

Microsoft and Bungie have yet to release any form of Halo demo before the release of the final game. Game Informer has posted a rumour claiming sources have revealed there will be a Halo 3 demo released over Xbox Live in the first half of 2007, and that we'll likely have to shell out to play it.

If true we'd bet our entire Halo knowledge on the fact that it would be something of a multiplayer demo (a couple of new maps and a few new weapons) rather than a portion of the single player game, which Bungie is famous for keeping under wraps right up until launch.

The burning question is, of course, would you pay for a demo? Haven't we all paid money for a demo we wanted on a magazine covermount before now? Let us know below.

I would probably pay around $5.00 for a demo but not much more than that. When Halo 3 gets released Heather and I probably wont be playing anything else. So if Halo 3 comes out at the end of next year 07 thats fine with me.

I most probably wouldn't pay to be honest, unless it's as little as Camaroboy mentioned above, if that. But probably I'd have to pay £4.50, as 500 points is the minimum you can buy...

A little bit harsh to make us pay for it for their money gain though, but I guess that's Microsoft for you...

Halo 3: First Details Emerge
New maps, new weapons, new SKUs, new control schemes.

In the just-redesigned December issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (subscribers should have it any day now) a handful of editors took Halo 3's multiplayer game hands-on.

The result? A 17-page cover story and a three-week series of stories on 1UP called "3 Weeks of Halo 3."

Before all of that information ends up in your hands, though -- here's a small taste of what to expect from both EGM and 1UP over the next few weeks:

What are these new Brutish weapons? What's a Spike Rifle...or a Spike Grenade?
The Mongoose (the once-scrapped ATV from Halo/Halo 2) is back: Who wants to ride Brokeback?
Halo 3 will have three retail SKUs: standard, collector's edition, and Legendary. Guess which one comes with a helmet and four discs of content?
Adding bumpers to the 360 controller means there's some extra real estate for Bungie to play with. Now the left bumper reloads your dual-wielded weapon and the right bumper is the normal reload. What does X do, though? Mum.
Starting weapon: Bungie thinks they have the "perfect" starting weapon in Halo 3. It's not the pistol, the battle rifle, or the SMG...and it's pretty familiar. How does the new Assault Rifle play?
One of the new maps, Valhalla, is being called "the new Blood Gulch" -- but this isn't another coat of new paint on the Combat Evolved classic. This is, from-the-ground-up, a brand-new map. How is it?
What if you could save your own movies from Halo 3's single- and multiplayer gameplay and then rewatch them? In Halo 3, you can.
Stay tuned to our 3 Weeks of Halo 3 hub page for lots more Halo 3 in the coming weeks!

Here's a few pics from the magazine (remember that they're alpha builds):

Funny how those images seem to have a lot less atmosphere and detail (especially in geometry) than what the trailer led on...GC anyone?

But of course, the drop in quality just *couldn't* mean MS was lying when they said it was all in "real time" right? I mean, they're not sony after all...rofl. I love it.

First, you're comparing a direct-feed trailer to photos in a magazine that weren't even scanned. Just taken with the magazine open with a digital camera. Second, these are alpha builds. Third, they're using objects from Halo 2 as placeholders for the final design.

How are we supposed to get the December issue? I just got the November issue two weeks ago...Oh heavenly hell, that is horrible. EGM is dead to me. Dead. And I thought the 2003 redesign was horrible (it was), this is just rediculous.

Who took those pictures, Duck? If they have access to the magazine, perhaps they could shed some light on the "MGS4 on Xbox360?" quote from the cover.

Duck - They said what they showed was real time in engine, this, is in engine, and very real time, but very much NOT like what they showed. I'm not even looking at textures, I'm looking at the simple geometry of all the objects on screen. The only impressive thing about the images we've seen are the character models and vehicles. Poor weapons effects (the lasers are boring) poor shadows, etc.

And I didn't kno wthey already released all the info that this was from an alpha build, and that they used Halo2 objects for place holders, and that they used this and this and this...in fact, I'm almost 100% positive bungie hasn't said ANY of that...ever...in any interview or article I've read about Halo 3. Please, enlighten me...because until you do, I'm laughing at MS for first trying to pass of massive amounts of Forza footage as real time, and now Halo 3.

I'll get back to you on that.

Top story.

Bungie.net
Scans from a Euro mag leaked today, showing the first ever multiplayer shots of a Halo 3 alpha build.

I believe the rest of the details about placeholders and such will be mentioned in the EGM issue. If not, and they're actually Halo 3 objects, which I seriously doubt, then I'll apologize to you.

Okay, awesome, now let me ask you this.

Do you really think that Bungie would be testing it's *multiplayer* before they got their engine finished? I mean, you can't just throw in low poly geometry in your engine and then expect it to run well if you upgrade your "placeholders". Given that, I seriously doubt they are "place holders".

So it's an alpha build, that's cool, however, it's still largely amusing that their Alpha Build looks significantly worse than their Trailer, which I do believe was CG, at least it was never running in real time. Just amusing to me since MS had such a smear campaign against Sony and their CG trailers, when they've been doing it for quite some time now.
