Very interesting 👍

1 year till we get the game though. 1 year of testing and getting the game to play better ( I hope)

I'll get back to you on that.

Ok, it seems like the photos are pretty much everywhere on the internet, so I can't really track down someone with the magazine.

Also, here's an article with parts of the Halo 3 article in EGM translated"

Halo 3 CollectorÂ’s Edition unveiled. Bungie shows pictures of new levels, weapons, vehicles, and talks multiplayer and other features -

Posted by supadupagama in News (Friday October 27, 2006 at 9:55 am)

Here are the first Halo 3 Xbox 360 details from a Swedish games magazine. You can click the thumbnails throughout the page to have bigger versions pop up. Enjoy!

3 Levels are revealed.
- Valhalla = Blood gulch,
- High Ground = Zanzibar,
- Snowbound = Frost bite.

New Weapons.
The spike weapon and secondary weapon will always be showing on the back.
- Spiker: The weapon of choice for brutes
- Spartan Laser: An anti-vehicle weapon
- Nail Grenade: Sticks on walls and emits nails into the air (like in Resistance)

New Vehicle.
- Moongoose: The ATV that was supposed to be in Halo 2. It carries 2 people and it doesnÂ’t have any weapons so itÂ’s mainly a means of getting from point A to point B as fast as possible, but players can fire while in it.

New multiplayer features.
- Man Cannon: Launches you into the air. You can still be fired at and you can fire back. It sounds like the jump pads from Unreal and Quake Arena. Though the cannon part could mean that you are a weapon if you collide with someone physically.
- No bots: No bots again.
- Controls: The X-button will have a special use which game developer Bungie will not reveal. A guess is itÂ’s for stealing the opponentÂ’s weapon in close range. Bumpers are now used to reload both weapons independently.

Halo 3: Legendary Edition.
The Collector’s Edition will be called “Legendary Edition” and is a replica of Master Chief’s helmet complete with four DVD discs.
- The first disc will be the game disc.
- The second will contain documentaries and developer comments.
- The third disc is all about the spin-off material that has been created (Red vs. Blue, This Spartan Life etc).
- The fourth disc will contain all of the cut scenes from Halo 1 to 3 in HD. (you can see it on the 3rd photo)
- A taste of the Halo movie will be on one of the discs.

Here are the magazineÂ’s big quotes.

On plot twists.
“Halo 3 will contain more plot twists than any other game in the series” -Jaime Griesemer

On Gears of War being competition.
“We’ve played lots and lots of multiplayer and some singleplayer, and yeah, it’s really good. But it’s also quite a bit different from what we’re doing. I realize that a lot of people are concerned that Halo 3 and Gears of War are going to compete for the same audience, but I think that when people get to play, they’ll realize how different the games are. Gears is a much slower game where stragegy and cover plays a bigger part.” -Jaime Griesemer

On graphics.
“A lot is still missing in this build. Weather- and water effects are missing, and most of our HDR isn’t in there yet. We’re still at alpha stage, but when everything is in place, Halo 3 will be the best X360 has to offer.” -Brian Jarrard

“We definitely have another strategy than Epic Games when it comes to graphics. We’ll never engulf our game environments in lots of details like that. Gears of War looks absolutely fantastic, but we want to avoid compromising Halo’s unique visual style. That’s why we’re making a clean, sharp game as opposed to one with insane amount of details.” -Brian Jarrard

“There are many ways to convey emotion. Graphics is not the most important one.” -Brian Jarrard

On multiplayer and bots.
“Multiplayer has always been important, but it’s developed in a different way which makes it look bigger for every game. We have a base that we always build the MP part on, whereas the SP mode practically has to be built ground-up every time. Xbox Live also made MP in Halo 2 even more important.” -Brian Jarrard

“A lot of people ask us about bots. They think that the AI in Halo was pretty damn good, and would work well in MP as well, but it’s really not that simple. The enemies in Halo are optimized for encountering the player in large numbers. They would be a lot worse at abstract thought AI like ‘I have to defend my flag’ and so forth. In short, to create bots for Halo would be an immense undertaking, and we rather put that time into making new levels, weapons and netcode.” -Jaime Griesemer

Scans and translations thanks to Neogaf.

Update: Made a correction to the Halo 3: Legendary Edition spin-off material disc, the second Halo show was badly translated and is supposed to be “This Spartan Life“. Thanks to series staff Thomas for pointing it out. I noticed their official website was down, probably slashdotted in the wake of their inclusion in Halo 3, so here at Machinima are their funny movies rehosted, check them out, they might break out in a dance!

...I do think that this is important to point out:

The scans were not from EGM, but from a Sweedish magazine called LEVEL. Translations have said to be a bit rough, particularly the "man cannon" in question, but the EGM issue with the details should be here like, tomorrow here in the US.

Mine will probably be here next week... I'll post if I get it early

The Legendary Edition will be worth a lot of money in the future I reckon, but I am going to buy two Legendary Editions.

Its great to finally see some info on Halo 3. When this comes out Heather and I wont be playing anything else for a long time. :dopey: I will read through all the information when I get some free time.
BTW you guys just need to ignore most of what Jeremy Ricci sais. He is probably one of the most negative members on this site and hardly replies with a positive coment about anything.

The ATV Buggy was meant to be in Halo 2, if this has not been raised yet.

I am really looking forward to driving that ATV buggy. :dopey:
Still a long time before this game comes out so I wont get too excited yet. I dont expect it until the end of 2007. I am sure the date will get bumped several times before it comes out.

I would if you will be able to use the feet movement, when turning to trip people up, so you can run them over easier lol.

I only played the original Halo once with a friend for about 15 minutes. So I guess I dont know how that ATV works and I have never seen or used it before.
I have really only played Halo 2. The multiplayer in Halo 2 is still the best I have ever seen for a FPS. I will be taking at least a week off work paid when Halo 3 comes out. And another week for Forza 2. :sly:

When people fall off the ATV in Halo 3, I wonder who will shout: "Sharon.”

I guess I dont get that either. :dunce:
You don't remember the news about Ozzy Osbourne do you, because I am just joking about something, which happened to him, when he was fooling about, which involved an ATV.

ok Yeah I remember that now. Now I will probably laugh hard hearing someone say that when I play this.

We should both fall off one in-game at the same time, like both of us on the same ATV, and then say it at the same time. Also the Man Cannon in-game sounds like something good for laughs in-game.

Were you playing with us when we first got Halo 2? I spent a couple nights giving Heather the virtual tour with the ghost and I would talk about the scenery. She would stand on the wing of the ghost and I would slowly fly around giving her a tour of the map. Everyone on both teams was laughing so hard. She was even killing them and they were still laughing. After a while someone finally ran us over with the warthog or shot us with a rocket. I only did it a few times but it sure was a great way to break up the tension of the intense matches.

I'm surprised Famitsu even bothered. Granted, it is a relatively small article, but it is still more covereage than I expected it would get.

The weapons in the scans look undersized abit, so I think they are place holders, maybe the overall character model is bigger than in Halo2?

Cortana: "Cheif, It looks like you've put on some weight!"

M.C.: "All for the fight against the covenant."

I like the idea that you can see what you are carrying on your backs as secondary weapon. It adds to the "realism" and gets rid of the unpredictable situations with other players. Don't want to deal with the Plasma Sword? Don't fight the guy with one on his back!

...This new battle riffle/assault riffle combo looks promising as well, and I think the addition of the laser riffle will be interesting to, particularly when fighting enemy mechanized units.

I'd still be interested to find out what percentage of the game takes place on Earth, as I doubt we will know for some time...

New Halo 3 details from EGM.

Ok I'm back from dinner and a magazine, and I may say,... OMG! There is just so much to go over but I'll try to summarize it as much as I can in somewhat of a list, new stuff first:

New "New" Info:

The New Needler:
IT IS NO LONGER DUAL-WIELDABLE!!! Not much is explained but they do say that it is going to be made more powerful, balanced, and "usable".

The Brute Ghost:
The only details on the Brute Ghost were seen in the 20-second Single-Player Video (more on that later). It is summarized in the magazine as a "bulkier version of the classic hover bike" shown in the vid with a Brute climbing into it.

Single Player:
The guys at EGM got a 20-second video of the MC "tearing" around a huge industrial compound with gunfire coming from all types of Covenant crafts including a hulking wraith and "what looks to be a new Brute Ghost". There were "ships flying overhead, lasers everywhere, multiple enemies all around etc". Again, EGM rejects us much info on the stuff that no one else has...(More details to be revealed on Nov. 20 on the Mini-Site)

SAVED FILMS:
One of the things I am most excited about is being able to record gameplay onto your hardrive or memory card. The best way to describe this is as an example: Late one night you go into matchmaking and have the best game of your life. You rack up 95% of your teams kills and attain little deaths. You were playing like a GOD. The problem is, none of yours friends were with you. Don't fear, as long as you chose to save the temporarily stored video of the match, you can share your glory! Start up a party and get all of your friends in it, then bring up your saved video and launch it! The video will automatically come up on everyone's screen and the host will be able to control play, pause, slow, rewind, etc. while everyone else can choose how they want to see it, be it First Person, Third Person, or from a "fly-it-yourself bird's eye view". All I can say about this is, WOW.

Game Settings:
No longer are certain things such as speed reserved for either one person. That's right you can give all special traits to everyone!!! And for even more fun, you can even give them to the leading/losing teams in a match! But along with the old traits come a line of new ones. My favorite is being able to make characters more visible, BY SETTING THEM ON FIRE!!! You can even turn down gravity to allow people to jump twice as high, and prevent certain people from picking up weapons. That was all that was specofied in the mag but they say there is more...

Voting:
Have you ever been in a party and the host is putting a gametype that no-one wants to play? Well vote against it! This can allow people to override the host's power. Whatever happened to the good ol' x button?

Advertising Customs:
Now you can put your custom gametype or even your custom game lobby out there for everyone to see! This was Bungie's answer to custom matchmaking...

Ranks:
Now you will have an actual "military" rank in Halo 3. This will be seperate from your matchmaking ranks and will include your overall stats, ranked, unranked, and even customs.

The X Button:
Still a mystery...

Ok Now More Info on the Older New Stuff:

The Brute Spiker:
I doesn't launch orange needle. It launches two foot superheated metal spike which resmble orange needles.

The Spike Grenade:
This thing latches onto ANYTHING. Covered with spikes, it will kill a Spartan if it you hit one on the head with it, but will stay embedded into it until it explodes: The explosions send out a conical volley of spikes, conical being so that if you are in a certain blind spot near the grenade, you won't be damaged.

Spartan Laser:
Can penetrate through multiple targets...

Grenades in General:
You can now only carry two of each...thats wack...

Man-Cannons:
Yes you can drive anything into these "cannons" but heavier things, such as the Warthog, won't go nearly as far...

Valhalla:
I personally don't think it is another Coag or BG, it IS a large map but it is balanced so snipers and heavy rockets don't rule it...

Snowbound:
There is a lot more to this map than there looks. The bases seem to be pretty large undergound and there are also linking tunnels and pathways. Energy shields (more on that lower down) protect many entrances and if you get too far out into the barren winter tundra, sentry turrets will shoot you down...

HighGround:
My favorite map, the battle revolves aroung the main base with openable/closeable front gates. There are numerous entrances and hiding place inside the structure such as a blown out bunker or a small "crouch" pipe.

Energy Shields:
This IS old new stuff, just less known I guess. Anyways these energy barriers won't let some grenades through the mag doesn't explain but apparently spike grenades stick to them. I'm not going to go to into these things because most of the info is already out there...

Ummmm, if I remember anything else, I'll tell but for now, this is it...

IGN
Play Halo 3
First details on the multiplayer beta test.
by Hilary Goldstein

November 15, 2006 - Next spring you will play Halo 3. To celebrate the fifth anniversary of Halo, Microsoft and Bungie announced a trio of upcoming releases, which includes a public multiplayer beta test for Halo 3 in 2007. There is a god and his name is Master Chief.

Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta
Bungie tested Halo 2 with a much ballyhooed Microsoft internal beta program. Many of the suggestions for tweaks and adjustments to Halo 2 multiplayer came from more than a thousand MS employees trying out Halo 2 on a set of private servers. For Halo 3, Bungie is expanding its testing circle significantly. Next spring, Bungie opens the Halo 3 multiplayer beta to Xbox 360 gamers, allowing fans to try out an unspecified number of maps and game modes and to help Bungie make the strongest online game possible.

"The Halo Nation has a nearly insatiable desire," said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Corp. "We hope a taste of advance Halo 3 gameplay satisfies some of their appetite as we count down to the game's launch later in 2007."

The release of a spring beta all but guarantees that Halo 3 will come out next fall and, more than likely, in time for the six-year anniversary of the franchise.

Halo 2 Maps for 360
Also in the spring, Bungie is preparing to offer all new maps for Halo 2. Available only on Xbox 360 through the Live Marketplace, it is unknown if the new content will be free or at a premium. No details were given as to the number of maps or if any other goodies surprises would be included with the downlad. With more than four billion online matches played since Halo 2's November 2004 release, it remains the most popular online Xbox game released to date.

"Since its original release, Halo 2 has redefined online play, delivering superior multiplayer capabilities in addition to an incredible social experience, and nurturing a constantly growing community through Xbox Live," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. "After five years of rabid fan interest in the Halo franchise and with more than four million users and counting on Xbox Live worldwide, this is the perfect time to invite fans to join the global Halo phenomenon."

The new map pack is conveniently being released in the same time frame as the Halo 3 beta test, which could mean there is a connection with the new content and the upcoming game.

Halo 3 Teaser Ad in December
On December 4, during ESPN's Monday Night Football game featuring the Panthers against the Eagles, a one-time showing of a new 60-second Halo 3 teaser will be aired. Handled by the McCann Erickson advertising agency (creators of your Nestle Crunch craving), the trailer provides a "unique compelling look at Master Chief and the world of Halo 3." The trailer is also scheduled for release on the Xbox Live Marketplace following its Monday Night debut.

Wait, What's Halo 3 Again?
The final chapter in the Halo videogame trilogy, Halo 3 settles the score between the Covenant, the Flood and the human race. Yes, this game will have an ending (we think). Halo 3 also features enhanced A.I., a new real-time lighting engine, new weapons and characters as well as expanded online community features.

Go ahead and pre-order your copy today.

...Bungie's explanation for all things Halo yesterday (also the 5th anniversary of Halo: CE) was pretty good. Baisically, they can't tell us anything specific, but they did confirm that things were in motion.

I want to know who's playing in that December 4th Monday Night Football game, as if it isn't important to my Football picks (we have a pool at work), I won't watch it. But, it will be interesting no less to see what the teaser will be. Maybe the 20 second clip that Shoe talked about in EGM?

...On the Halo 2 maps for 360, my response has pretty much been "meh." Not that I completely don't care, but I haven't played Halo 2 online in more than six months. With my friends not being on and most of the internets being populated either by A) overly-talented 8 year olds or B) big internet douchebags, there isn't any fun in playing anymore. I'll give them a look, but I'm not planning on buying...

On other Halo-related stuff: 2007 seems to be shaping up to be a magnificent year. Halo Wars will be sweet, the other Jackson game will probably kick-ass, and there isn't a doubt in my mind that Halo 3 will come anywhere near suck. So, heres to 2007, two months ahead of time!

The commercial sure is a teaser. So, basically, they're letting us know it's still in the works.
