How could this league be improved?

after such appalling events by JK yesterday and the insulting of my 2nd home track (Stowe), I have decided to dock him an additional 100000 bagillion points....good luck catching up ^.^

So, since we can now put more numbers on our cars, do we want to claim numbers? I know it can be complicated with new drivers and others coming in, but I think it would make traditional ID easier on and off the track?

I typically run #34 in honor of Wendell Scott. The first African American to win a NASCAR sanctioned event. Occasionally I get a bug to run #24 for obvious reasons, but would be happy to stick with #34 if that makes it easier for people to spot me. Since I can't run rookie tape on my back bumper for JK and kv. :irked:

if others want to do it but I don like it for that reason (some people like 2 or more numbers)

I will add some psns later. But I'm really interested in joining your club. I have introduced myself on rumble strip

I'll use my age. "77" (: )

I can't. Otherwise JK might not be able to use Jimmie's number. ;)

I will likely stick with 34, just in case another Gordon fan comes along.

Welcome Mr. Button! hope you will have tons of fun in our league but there is 1 important rule you must know of, don't let JK win! any questions? feel free to post them here! we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

so, for the second tier of the second race we have 2 choices....600pp Ferraris or Gt500's

VOTE NOW!

What are we talking about? :dunce: I know I already voted.

the club vs. club races. the second race has 2 tiers. one for sure is rally. we are voting for the second one

I see. And we are picking the cars we're going to drive as a team? Well then, I stand by my vote. Particularly if I'm driving in that one. Still working the kinks out of driving the MR Ferraris.

I like the Ferraris ok but they are fairly unstable. GT500 cars are easy to drive and probably better on gas and tires than the more powerful Ferraris.

Exactly. Those S/C V8s with all that torque can be short shifted easily and still be fast while saving tires and fuel.

yeah, there too easy.....WE NEED A CHALLENGE!

and maybe you should try the 599 because mine did seem fairly stable

As an FR car, I do have and drive a 599. I still do better with a 430 Scuderia. Just haven't been able to get the tune right in GT6. In GT5, it was one of my primary weapons.

But the GT500 isn't that easy. It's still a challenge to make it's strategy work for you without cooking the tires in the process.

kz will be missing this Saturday :'(

Just an update. After some testing, I have found that there are a couple of Ferraris I can fine tune and make clean racers out of. I am going to try and do some tire and gas mileage testing this afternoon so I can get more seat time at Motegi. I know the track well, but have never run either car on track. The 458 and 430 feel good and light. Tires shouldn't be a problem but fuel mileage may be.

The GT500 has such a usable powerband that you could run that race without having to scream in the hi revs very often. I can't say I see less pit stops though because it is very difficult to keep the back wheels planted around a track with so many curves. I hope to have some numbers by this evening so we can finalize our decision quickly.

Is It going to be raining for the race at Autumn Ring?

My testing, while not as complete as I would like to have had time for, told me a lot about the cars for the upcoming race. I have to change my vote to Ferrari, as the were the best car. For that track, of course! If it was Daytona Road, I might feel different, but Motegi has you on the wheel so much and the straights are so short, that the Ferraris just showed why they are the road car. The GT500 is a beautiful machine, but required so much work that I can imagine it to be very frustrating after four hours on that course.

I tested the 599 as well, but quickly ruled it out since it seemed like it was going to be equally as rough on the tires as the GT. I was competitively fast in both the 458 and 430 compared to the others and was able to stay reliably under 2 minutes on every lap.

So I now vote Ferrari. Any particular colors? Let me know.

Ferrari 458 Italia
Car was quick and light. Not as easy to stay fast as the Scuderia, but more stable over a period of laps. Averaged high 1:50s with some 2:00s. 430 is much better at consistent low lap times. But 458 will be less tiresome over the long haul and will be a little more forgiving as the laps wear on the tires.

Pit at the end of lap 8 as I was on fumes. Tire wear was 6-7 with left rear=4.

-----------------------------------------

Ferrari 430 Scuderia
Easy to keep in the 1:50.000 range with one spin on one lap. Quick and smooth. As I said, my favorite weapon.

Left tire worn down to 2
Empty by lap 9. (Similar to 458). No other choice but to pit.

-----------------------------------------

Ford Shelby GT500
Short shifting would have to be the only way to go with this car. Couldn't get it into the 2:00.000 range doing so however. There was just not enough grip. It could be tuned in perhaps, but not with that supercharger on the car I'm afraid. The Boss 302 might be a much better substitute if that is an option, but the GT500 is too much work on a course with this many turns.

Accelerates like you stole it. Stops like Grandma is on the brakes. Not a good car for R34 to go in too hot with! Spent my share of time in the kitt kitt litter.

Rear tires cooked to 4 left and right
Empty by lap 6.
