@BenMillard and to whom it may concern...

Sorry, my earlier "lol" was not meant to be at you Ben or at GT1. FTR GT1 from my experience thus far has illustrated excellent, responsible driving etiquette, respectful and clean racing practices. When things do go wrong it is very rare to see anyone just ignore the situation and drive off. I have many reasons why I believe it works like this, regardless of them. My point here is it really doesn't get better when it comes to racing with others in a competitive field.

Ben, we all get caught up in incidents brother. It happens in racing for a number of reasons. It's incredibly frustrating. Fortunately however and specifically to GT1 ( and no where else i have seen so far ) the IR system actually works.

More over everyone in GT1 tries to drive and respond to incidents with the utmost respect and interest in resolving issues/ disputes. I know your pissed and it sucks to be in he middle of turmoil. Don't let it take you out of the game though. File an IR or talk to who ever about what happened ( use the pm not open lobby ) and know that it was not intentional All attempts to avoid it in the future will be made.

*note: if you find yourself getting into multiple situations constantly you have to then look at the common denominator in those situations. If it appears to be you then it's on you to develop the right driving practices to get up to speed and in sync with the GT1 menatility.

Ps: To be clear, my "lol" was directed at a separate racing genre, and had nothing to do with GT1. Those who are familiar with some brief history know what I'm saying/ talking about. The rest, need not worry about it.

So get back in there Ben or you'll be missing out!!

(This message brought to you by the beach in Maui in the early morning while sipping coffee and staring into the the ridiculously blue ocean in what can only be described as the perfect start to another fantastic day :). ) aloha!

Great job on the win at Monaco. It was a beautiful thing to watch. That replay is a keeper and it makes me proud to be a corvette lover.

Also, my hat's off to Whitey for battling with me the whole race. The walls are such a huge part of this track and to avoid them is a major challenge in its self. Glade that round is over!

I'm actually going to go back and watch @Xradkins and @Whitey093's battle later this week. I saw you two on each other's bumper the whole time. I'd like to check lap times to see whether I might have been able to keep pace. It's doubtful though. Either the mustang or my driving wasn't up to the task (or both). My pit strategy went as expected. I wanted to start on RH tires, draft a bit for a lap or two some of the faster drivers, then do my best to maybe hold off some close competitors behind me while having an open track in front of me. I know fuel weight doesn't play well with this strategy but I learned last week that I couldn't post fast lap times with RM tires and low fuel. The car needs the rear weight to rotate. Anyway, the strategy worked out I guess. I had a clear race track by the end of lap 1 and JC and Thor were battling it out for 5th place behind me. Thor caught me around lap 10 and I held off for a few more laps before pitting. It was RM tires from that point on and a clear track. I just focused on hitting all the apexes. I had some faster than qualifying laps in there and a few rough laps, but nothing more than a 1/2 to 3/4 second of my potential given the tire wear.

Now we're on to GP/F and again the Mustang isn't starting out so well. The surface is entirely different compared to Monaco and I immediately threw out everything on my tune. I started with lap times around 2:06 and have it down to a steady 2:04 but I heard rumors of sub 2:00 lap times. I don't see me shaving that kind of time off in the corners so I guess I'll start playing with the power mods to see if I can get this car to accelerate a little quicker.

@chuyler1

I got sub 2:00's in the camaro last time i had it at nurb gp a year ago but the car has less power and a lot more weight. I tested it here at the beginning of the season and think i was in the 2:03 range. I'll have to test again but i know i wont be anywhere near the times from the last season with the new specs.

The battle between me and x was pretty good and all race long. He was able to stay clean and consistent but i kept banging the walls, my rear end was still twitchy exiting turns after many adjustments so i got outdriven by the better driver this time. I need to watch that back too.

I care not for cars...it's all about tracks and resolution of being able to look ahead. I enjoy ProjectCars1 because I don't feel like I'm staring at 5 grainy pixels up the track looking for my turn in point or apex. I haven't even really explored that many cars in PC1 though. I have too much fun in the Ford Escort trying to chase those faster Mercs around the track.

The tracks are great too in my opinion. I spun out on brands hatch and i look up and there's a corner worker waving a yellow flag. It has no bearing on the game but is a nice realistic touch. If you look at the screenshots and the videos in the gtsport thread you can see that the environments are pretty awesome.

Whats important to me though is that the feel of the game is similar to gt6 just with some tweaks such as you cant overdrive anymore and expect to get away with it. You must hit your brake marks if you want to get through a corner smooth. Also therea more brake-coast-roll back on the throttle and less mash brake-mash gas. This is a good thing.

Another awesome thing, for me, is the basic tuning logic seems to translate from gt6. I threw a tune on my merc gt3 that is similar in concept to my camaro gt1 tune and was able to put down some great lap times and dominate a few races online last night. I even just barely missed the global top 10 by less than a tenth at brands gp in the merc before calling it a night. I am loving this game and how it looks and feels. Cant wait for snail to make the jump when it comes out.

That's awesome, a lot like Project Cars (which I'm told is similar to Assetto Corsa). Trail braking under full brakes doesn't work in real life and you are severely penalized for attempting it in the game. GT5/6 have always rewarded you in almost every car for staying on the brakes late into a corner.

Who are you?

Its not as hardcore as pcars as in if you drive in deep you plow off track where as in pcars you spin, catch it, spin the other way, roll over and blow up. There is still some sort of underlying assist that exists even with all available assists off that i can see upsetting purists but it is way less forgiving than gt6 and is a good balance between a game and a sim in my opinion.

@chuyler1

Good news bad news. Good news, i got the mustang down to 2.2. Bad news, i got the camaro and m3 both down to 1.4. Thats the benchmark as far as i'm aware. For now.

If you want to throw me some tips on the tune that'd be great! I managed a 3.8 on a best lap with fresh RM tires...but I was mostly in the low 4s. Haven't tested since that first night though.

Thank you X. I have a room open at gpf for a bit

I've managed to get the mustang run a 2:01.9 after last night's session and some help from Whitey. I combined his spring rates and dampers with my transmission and other settings and shaved off nearly 2 seconds off my previous best time. I've also adjusted my driving style with the car. Being a little more patient to get on the gas mid corner is helping.

So two nights ago I was experimenting again with camber. I thought maybe I could unlock some speed in terms of tire wear or something. I forgot to remove 0.5 degree on the front before the start of last night's first practice race. At the end of the race I was down to 4/4 on front tread. The second race I removed it, I had a faster best lap but knowing that best lap will only come on lap 2 or 3 it doesn't matter all that much. At the end, I was maybe 1/4 lap further before I saw the tires drop from 5/5 to 4/4. So the camber had virtually no affect on tire wear...but also didn't provide me with any additional grip.

After the race I ran some laps with some other camber settings just to play around.
0.5 / 0.0 - running 2.02s, slightly more understeer, or at least the sound of understeer
0.0 / 0.5 - still running 2.02s, a little more wheelspin on corner exit
0.5 / 0.5 - still running 2.02s, maybe better mid corner balance, but slow in slow out
0.0 / 1.5 - up to 2.03s because car couldn't put the power down on corner exit

I just don't get why this game even has camber if it has no affect. The mustang is rolling enough through the corners that it should need at least 2-3 degrees of camber in the real world.

Anyway, I'm back to no camber, I lost 10hp at some point last night and once I changed the oil I got back into the 2:01s. Hoping for a decent qualifying lap tonight because there's going to be a lot of battling for 3rd on down.
