Well, how is everyone adjusting to the new physics? I for one, am really liking the new physics, after being able to put in some good seat time.
I still see a lot of people complaining though, so I’m curious how our group is finding the changes. I can’t be the only one in favour of them….,

I’m still adapting but I do like the way it handles mid corner now better than before. The “wag” I’ll call it, when you would over rotate and it would snap back is gone. Drifting corners is easier, I had some fun playing with the handbrake. I’m not sure if it’s more realistic now than it was before or not. ABS weak is more effective at preventing lock up than before. I tried abs off and it wasn’t any easier than I remember.

My experience with it so far has been some Power Pack Japanese series races, the TT for @llNovall’s upcoming MPC series, and one of the license tests (AMG at Nurburgring, series of complex corners, I never seem able to beat)

I have spent some time over the last few days driving road cars on the Nurburgring and some lapping in racecars for my Friday night series.
Race cars: for me, the feel with extreme camber, toe, wide tires, and low tightly sprung suspension, the racecar under braking feels very believable and realistic. You get the sense that there is actually a suspension under the cars and that weight is actually moving around on it. There is a dead zone/heaviness when you initially bunker down on the brakes that cues you very quickly that you need to release as you attempt to turn in as the car is dancing around. In corners, the car rotates what feels more naturally to me where the weight transfers onto the outside tires on entry, and when traction begins to let go mid corner, you can actually feel the front or rear starting to slide, or even a gentle 4 wheel rotational slipping that you can control out with the throttle.

For me, the Road cars are everything stated above, but with more dancing and slip. I can relate to my '01 Camaro with 275/40/17's up front and 315/35/17's in the back on the braking aspect. Coming down from hi speed while braking, you feel every ripple and undulating of the road while all the weight is applied to the front tires...to the point of almost feeling fidgety. Under heavy braking load, the suspension can only do so much to mitigate the road surface along with how much it can let you steer. As you relieve the brakes, the weight relieves off the front in turn allowing the car to begin reacting to inputs.

Took a minute to acclimate, but to me the overall feel seems much more in line with how I expect a car to react at the limits and how controlled they can feel within them.

I agree with @llNovall but with road cars there is almost no limit to slip under control. Not turning enough? Turn the wheel some more. I like the physics, but that part needs to be turned down a touch. I haven't tried drifting with a wheel yet, but Im going to guess its much easier now.

  4. Dragonwhisky ------ voted to eliminate Round 3 - Prize C
  5. Kgffty ------------ voted to eliminate Round 3

  2. Ou8beaver2 -------- voted to eliminate Round 1
  3. RacingChamp30 ----- voted to eliminate Round 1
  4. Canoworms1 -------- voted to eliminate Round 1
  5. AR-King ----------- voted to eliminate Round 1 - Prize B
  6. cesarr64 ---------- voted to eliminate Round 3
  7. arethosetacos ----- did not submit a vote
The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man '16 (RH) at Grand Valley Highway 1 - Reverse - S09 Early Morming (8 laps)
Therefore, the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. @JamCar0ne wins Prize A, and gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - Subaru BRZ S '21 (CS) at Mount Panorama Circuit - S01 Sunrise (6 laps)
This means either the car or track will be replaced for next week's line-up. @KingApex is the Prize B winner and they have the option to freeze the car or the track, or they can give that option to the Prize C winner. If they give the freeze away, they get to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @Dragonwhisky - they get whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it's confirmed you don't have any penalties.
  • It is recommended you visit SNAIL combo history, along with other data on our car and track history, to review how many times we've raced each car and/or track.
  • Please remember, originality is always appreciated. Although not required, picking cars and tracks we've never raced is a plus.
  • What's more important is, you thoroughly test any combo you are considering, before making it your official selection.
    • For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter, either hard1 or soft2, at any point during a race, even in the draft.

IMPORTANT:
  • When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting.
    • For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98".
    • If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza".
    • Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers.
  • Please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select.
  • For track selections, include the Preset Weather and the Time of the Day (e.g.: S01 Afternoon) or it will be set to default.
    • Available settings can be found under Time/Weather Settings, when creating an online Lobby, after selecting your track.

Car Selection Guidelines
See Section 3 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines.

Track Selection Guidelines
See Section 3.1 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines
.

1Hitting the "hard" limit causes the RPMs to "bounce" and reduces torque and speed.
2Hitting the "soft" limit ceases all acceleration potential. Meaning, you're not going to go any faster.
Prize B. I freeze the track. Mount Panorama Circuit - S01 Sunrise (6 laps)

The Drivers and Grid List is provisionally updated.

We haven't had more than 14 drivers, across 2 divisions for about 3 months. We will be falling back to 1 Division for the September season, beginning August 30th. Reminder - There will be no official Sunday racing on September 6th (Labor Day break).

I would remind everyone of the below policy;

In the event that any division reaches capacity on a Sunday night, full time active drivers will have priority over any other classification of driver for filling spots on the grid during Sunday night races. Part time active drivers will be listed in order of priority for racing on Sunday night. The drivers list is also the priority list from top to bottom.

This list will be ordered using the following criteria:
  1. Most to least amount of points scored in the current season. If tied move on to
  2. Most to least points scored in the previous season.
If a room reaches capacity and a part time driver in that division wishes to race, they may move up one division and race that night. That driver will be scored in the higher division for that night. Any points earned in the higher division will not transfer to the lower division but the driver will be credited with racing that night for the purpose of full or part time status.

With only one division, any drivers that are not able to enter the Division 1 lobby may form an additional lobby. This lobby will not be scored but those who participate will be credited for racing that night.

Prize A

Caterham Seven Superlight R500 '08
SH tires
569.16 pp

Suzuka Full Course
MDLT - 2:22

Ran a lot of laps testing out the new physics and I like the changes they've made. Sport cars on sport tires a seem more fun to drive. The slip vs grip ratio seams to really play well together. The Caterham on Sport Medium tires was loads of fun at Suzuka, (we will be running Sports Hard per SNAIL tire spec). It is still very drivable on SH and even CS for that matter, just slower. Interestingly I ran the same times with both Sport Softs as I did with Race Hard. Didn't spend much time trying to determine why.

So apparently Tee and I modded our R32’s and bored and stroked them. Likely for some drift BS, but anyway I can’t figure out how to get these cars compliant. If anyone knows how to fully turn these things back to stock, please let me know

Just go in the tuning shop. It has some new engine and new body parts. It’s a bit expansive but it will return your engine and body parts (in case of weight reduction) to the stock version.
