Yes I had try no ABS with a Gr.3 car. No drivable but it led us (Nick and Niagara at that time) to an idea of using the brake balance on + 3 or 4 with the ABS at weak and it seems to work pretty well.

Did you try SPEC road cars? Race cars still lock up the tires.

Road car act very weirdly too. But that was before we figured out that maybe cause by the ABS weak setting. On ABS default this is gonna be better. But all that weird acting is also partially because of the basic suspension and diff settings that are now very different from one car to another.

Did you try abs off? It's ridiculously easy to drive now.

Not with a road car. Will do maybe tomorrow if I had time.

This new physics update is not very approved by a large part of the GT community, even some Youtuber affiliated with GT7… The pressure is on to fix those weird new things.

I think the update broke ABS on road cars. I think Im now faster with ABS off. Its near impossible to lock up the tires. Can someone test it out and let me know what you think?

Maybe @Dragonwhisky or @Marcus Garvey

Edit: race cars on race tires still lock up lol.
And by faster, I talking maybe a tenth per sector, instead of much slower with ABS off. Ive never seen it this way before. And don't compare against pre update lap times as road cars that Ive tested are slower post update.
Not done but 3 drives I could use as a comparison. Wednesday night I ran off the Tokyo event for the Weekly challenge tickets. Used the first car I built for that credit farming race back in '24, '16 Camaro SS. When I built it then it was on Sport Soft tires. Between then and now it's had its PP "adjusted" at least 3 times and I had to put Sport mediums, then Sport Hards on it, to get it back under 600PP. Prior to 1.71 it would do 197MPH unassisted, if I got a decent exit out of the last turns, down the front straight on the SH's Wednesday night.

Thursday evening, while I was updating SNAIL resources for the "new" cars, I discovered it took almost a 30point PP nerf. I was all "hmm, can probably toss the SMs back on it to get it back up to just under 600PP". Not that it needed it to win the race. Ran the first race Thursday with the SH still on it. Since they lowered the fuel usage multiplier to x1, this car can now no stop that race. Used to have to stop between laps 6-8 for fuel and not bother changing the tires. It wouldn't go any faster than 195MPH down the front straight now, assisted or otherwise, and my best lap was a high 2:10. Prior to 1.71 I was nipping into the mid to high 2:09s. I also noticed quite the difference in SH degradation. Prior to 1.71 I was able to run those SHs hard the entire race. Under 1.71 I was having to tip toe through the turns, even with the tire wear gauges only showing half white/red, starting around lap 9.

Slapped the sport mediums on it, which brought the PP up from 573.xx to 599.xx and went out for another run. This run the SMs fell off enough I decided to pit at the end of lap 8 for tires and no fuel. That was a quick stop. Car now able to hit 197MsPH down that front straight again, even if it's later in the run to T1. My fast lap on these SM tires was a 2:08.568 and total finish time was 26:49.504. I know this because, when either of those times is a "best", I record it. The fast lap was 2/10ths slower than my best with the SSs and the total time was the fastest I've ever completed this race, with this car. Admittedly, most, if not all, of that time could have been gained in the pit stop.

I noticed a lot more wheel vibration and chatter after 1.71 update and it appears the run on SHs was enough to make my wheel cry a little and the first run with SMs had it shut down completely on the first lap. Rebooted everything and ran off the race without issue. My GPro is at 100% (11nm) torque at the wheel with GT7 torque value at 5. I do not change it car to car.

GT ABS implementation has always been daffy. From what I've heard, they way it simulates brake input pressure is to adjust traction coefficients. In other words, it doesn't actually change/pulse the fluid pressure hitting the calipers, it changes how sticky the tires are. Since the tire traction algorithms are some arbitrary logic and math, owing to the tire manufacturer's unwillingness to share their data, PD has done what they think best with those values. I also suspect, they built ABS this way because it was easier to "logic" traction numbers, since they're arbitrary 💩 anyway, than to "logic" player input thresholds.
It's been my impression, GT7abs.Activation={any.SteeringAngle + IHaveNoIdeaWhatTheThresholdIs.BrakeInput, launch.subroutine "adjust.TireTraction", or.Something.}

It doesn't really matter and frankly, I don't care how they do it. ABS was never intended or designed to be a help me go faster system. Its intent and design is a help me control (steer) my car in a panic braking event. If you're racing and panic braking, you're doing it wrong.

On another note, I'm not certain that I'll be on the grid tonight. I don't have an unmodified Nissan and it ain't worth the credits to remove it all so, if I do attend, it'll only be for rounds 1 & 3.

As far as the update, for me an amateur, the bite on the front seems completely different. The biggest thing for me is the change on mid corner exits. I feel my acceleration points are all off. I can get the throttle on sooner with less risk of fishtailing. Anyways on to this weeks car show.

About to open a room for SNAIL practice and abs testing.

Hello guys, I'll be there tonight. I haven't touched my rig for a long time, there have been physical changes 🫣 I'll do my best! Summer is difficult for me to play ps but I can't wait to resume. What time do the practices start?

Due to being hungover from my friend’s bachelor’s party last night, I’ll skip tonight’s racing. I might not make it next Sunday.
You guys have fun, can’t wait to be back on track with the new physics and hopefully a new car or two ;)

Buttercup! ;):mischievous::lol:

Also, the Nissan is in the UCD, special picks on limited stock, which I just bought one so, I reckon my probability for attending tonight just went up a couple hairs. Gotta' go slobber some paint and stickers on it.

Lol I've been away racing etc and haven't turned on the PS5 in a bit but it's high on my list since I got a new shifter I haven't even plugged in yet.

Gridlife this weekend. The first year of the past 5 I decided not to race and just enjoy the party instead. So of course things didn't happen that way. Former Snail Nick Barbato's second GLTC win, and first GLTC win at Lime Rock for the feature race 4 of the weekend.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man '16 (RH) at Grand Valley Highway 1 - Reverse - S09 Early Morming (8 laps)
Therefore, the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. @JamCar0ne wins Prize A, and gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - Subaru BRZ S '21 (CS) at Mount Panorama Circuit - S01 Sunrise (6 laps)
This means either the car or track will be replaced for next week's line-up. @KingApex is the Prize B winner and they have the option to freeze the car or the track, or they can give that option to the Prize C winner. If they give the freeze away, they get to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @Dragonwhisky - they get whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it's confirmed you don't have any penalties.
  • It is recommended you visit SNAIL combo history, along with other data on our car and track history, to review how many times we've raced each car and/or track.
  • Please remember, originality is always appreciated. Although not required, picking cars and tracks we've never raced is a plus.
  • What's more important is, you thoroughly test any combo you are considering, before making it your official selection.
    • For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter, either hard1 or soft2, at any point during a race, even in the draft.

IMPORTANT:
  • When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting.
    • For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98".
    • If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza".
    • Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers.
  • Please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select.
  • For track selections, include the Preset Weather and the Time of the Day (e.g.: S01 Afternoon) or it will be set to default.
    • Available settings can be found under Time/Weather Settings, when creating an online Lobby, after selecting your track.

Car Selection Guidelines
See Section 3 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines.

Track Selection Guidelines
See Section 3.1 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines
.

1Hitting the "hard" limit causes the RPMs to "bounce" and reduces torque and speed.
2Hitting the "soft" limit ceases all acceleration potential. Meaning, you're not going to go any faster.
