The solution to this is to step out from behind so you are staggered. If the leading driver breaks harder or sooner than you expect, you will not be right behind them to bump them. Solution. Also, don't race so damn close that you are gonna always hit going into a corner.Doing some practice runs on Panorama for a little bit. Need some practice following another driver and getting used to not hitting them before diving into a corner!
When following another driver closely you have to adjust your brake point. You need to brake earlier than usual. Remember in the draft you usually carry more speed. That also needs to be taken into account. Stepping out of the line is not always the best solution because that could result in a dive-bomb which is frowned upon in the leagueDoing some practice runs on Panorama for a little bit. Not just frowned upon but illegal by the OLR. Be careful, but if you get the better of your opponent while under braking, you can take the corner. I believe that's fair. When following another driver closely you have to adjust your brake point. You need to brake earlier than usual. Remember in the draft you usually carry more speed. Yea, that's definitely bad.
Imagine this. You're trailing right behind someone, on their bumper going into the braking zone. You pull out to the side to not bump and the other guy doesn't hit the brakes as hard. You are now side by side, on the verge of overtaking the other car. All of this is happening under braking before you reach the apex. Depending on the turn there can also be turn in happening/trail braking. Now that the cars are side by side, the rules change. It's at this point that a battle can be had and whoever drives better gets the position, no?
It's been an hour since his question, pretty sure he's on Bathrust by now lol.@TimmyO85 I think we too things a bit too far but does all that answer your question?
@TimmyO85 I think we too things a bit too far but does all that answer your question?
It does give insight to my question. Those are all answers I already know, i just need the practice of close racing to put it all into play. I'm a kinetic learner. I can read all day long but at the end of the day, I need hands on prac app!Absolutely nothing wrong with extensive conversation regarding racecraft and technique. After all, that's what we come here for. 👍
We're driving right now. Cape Ring.It does give insight to my question. Those are all answers I already know, i just need the practice of close racing to put it all into play. I'm a kinetic learner. I can read all day long but at the end of the day, I need hands on prac app!
then get on Track and run some laps.It does give insight to my question. Those are all answers I already know, i just need the practice of close racing to put it all into play. I'm a kinetic learner. I can read all day long but at the end of the day, I need hands on prac app!
Dude, you can't do close racing... Alone....then get on Track and run some laps.
do it alone!
Eh, baby is awake and needs constant attention. I'll get it worked out. We're driving right now. Cape Ring.
Just a heads up on a couple of glitches at Panorama track.
On Corner two the right hander after the long straight, when you exit the corner if you drift to close to the wall there is a glitch that will grab your car and stop it instantly.
It happened to me at Thursday night practice causing a big pile up.
Also there is the same glitch at the top of the mountain as you exit the left hander onto the long back stretch. I think this one is a little more well known.
I don't know about any one else but I also experience a lot of frame rate issues at the top of the mountain at that track. That track and pretty much any track with walls. Where a wall ends is always a place where your car will catch and destroy itself.
On that note it's time to gather around the outdoor fire, have a few brown pops, listen to some good tunes, shoot the breeze and chill.
Have a good night all...
Funny, I thought the shot should have focused more on the pack behind that purple menaceThanks @singlepaddy for providing some amazing banners for the races once again. I especially like the cape ring picture this week great shots !
Weird, it's not working for me?D3 data done for 7/3/16
So you went for 2 days 1 night? Seems like the best way to stop the bleeding early if ya know what I mean.Heres a little trip report for you guys from last weekend when my girlfriend and I drove out to Vegas. We left on 6/30 at 4PM from San Diego and got into Vegas at 10:15PM.
We we're delayed a good hour on the I-15 going through Hysperia/Victorville because of this fire. They had the freeway down to one lane.
We stayed at the Silverton which is south of town, but only 20 minutes from the strip. Really nice property and a friend of mine was able to get us a suite for the night. We didn't even get to really enjoy it! Dropped our bags off and headed out to the casino floor to gamble. Went to bed late, wallet being a bit lighter, woke up early and checked out.
Friday and Saturday was spent here at Paris. Great location, but being gamblers the strip isnt very friendly to low-rollers like us. Table limits and machines are usually much higher than down on Fremont Street/Old Las Vegas.
This was hit at Paris on Friday. The all illusive royal flush, something you average out to see once in 40,000 hands. Of course I was happy hitting $1k, but with this Video Poker variant I had a chance to win much much more. See how it says "Next hand 2X" on 2 of the 3 lines? It means those 2 lines will pay double whatever I get next hand. So if I we're to get a Royal again it would pay $2k instead of $1k. The multiplier goes all the way up to 12X, so technically I had a shot at $12k. The fact that I hit this and still left Vegas with less money than I brought should tell you how the gambling went. Not good.
Friday night we headed to Fremont Street, the original Las Vegas. I enjoy myself much more here than I do on the strip for many reasons. Gambling is cheaper, it doesn't take 20 minutes to walk from one casino to the other, its a total party atmosphere, and you can expect to see the unexpected with all the walks of life roaming around.
We went into the Plaza to grab a bite to eat and gamble a little bit. As we were walking out I noticed this. Teflon Don's very own whip. Pretty cool. We actually did pretty decent down on fremont gambling wise, although when we returned on Saturday we gave back most of our winnings at the craps table.
We headed North on Saturday morning for breakfast.
On the way we stopped by the Stratosphere. (that giant building that looks like the space needle) I had never been up there before and for $20 you can go to the top and get some great views. They even have roller coasters at the top, and you can also freefall off the building. No thanks.
After breakfast we headed downtown again, and on the way drove past "Pawn Stars". I've never been inside, and looking at this line would you want to? From what I hear the guys on the TV Show are never there, and they don't even film it inside the shop.
Everytime I go to Vegas I make sure to stop by Wanderlei Silva's gym. (Hes in my avatar in case you're wondering who that scary mofo is, and in the mma world he definitely is scary) I've been 4 times and all 4 times hes never been at the gym. Bummed to have not met him yet, but still hoping I'll cross paths with him. A total legend of the sport, and a huge superstar in Japan when PRIDE ruled the mma world, not UFC.
The World Series of Poker takes place at the Rio for the entire month of June and into July. The place is massive, 3 giant ball rooms all full of tournaments, cash games, sit n go's, you name it. All you can hear is the sounds of chips being shuffled. Was hoping to maybe spot a pro or two but how could you pick them out in giant fields like this?
We didn't get to meet or see any celebs this time around, but when we were in Vegas last March we went to Iron Mike's one man show. As a Tyson fan this was awesome. Ironically took place at the MGM where 20 years ago he bit off part of Evander Holyfield's ear. I'm 6'3, Mike is like 5'11. Gives you an appreciation for his dominance in the late 80s knocking guys out way bigger than him.
We checked out of Paris at 6AM on Sunday morning and hit the road. Last time we drove out there we didn't leave till early afternoon and it took 8 hours to drive home. We've learned our lesson. Heres the abandonded water park off of I-15 near Barstow, or as we like to call it Barstool.
All in all, yes it sucked gambling wise, but the weather was nice (didn't break 100) we ate good food, and had fun. If you've never been to Las Vegas you need to do it! Even if you don't gamble, theres plenty of entertainment for you waiting there.
