Not that I fault the logic, but I find a funneling in that area but be highly unlikely to occur. Given the length of the "straight" before turn 3, the size of the corner and the natural slope of the road coming off the wall, I think most people would naturally gravitate away and to the right of the white line before the next turn. Further, funneling can still be an issue. Coming out of turn two and onto the small straight, you can run two tires over the line and two on the line, and if a couple of cars stack up to the right of that car, they are still funneled in regardless, yet still considered on track. If funneling were to occur, it can still happen regardless. The only help I can see it giving the stewards an easy out.

I agree that the funneling can still take place but if the driver on the outside is legal and has two tires inside the white line, they will then have at least two tires on the paved surface at corner entry. If a driver were allowed to run to the edge of the pavement and out to the wall, they could legally be run completely off the track by another driver on the inside.

On top of that, if someone were to go OB if the wall was OB, their car would suddenly slow, because of the GT physics. Think about how much of a chain reaction that could cause for cars following closely.

Ahh, see, in this case, would it not be better to be all or nothing if the real concern is getting run off track? Why not make it so no tires can go over the white line there? That way we don't have to worry about whether someone will use good etiquette or not. I mean, riding a rumble strip with two wheels way out in the grass is probably as good as all four on the grass. And if the concern is etiquette in nature, than this would cure the desire for our fictitious unsavories from using this as a strategy to possibly win a race. I mean, one way or the other, they are legally allowed to run someone into the grass, whether it be two tires or four.

Edit: It is a point Falango, but, moot I believe as we race at tracks like SSR5 and Monaco, hitting a wall is a risk of racing at tracks with walls.

@JoeW, I'm not skerd! I think we both have been around long enough to be called Old School SNAILs. Having been one to help form some of the many policies we use, I know none of the "theys" are opposed to constructive debate. Unlike US politics, the politics here aren't so.... childish.

Drive to the entrance of turn 3. If you have two tires on or inside the white line, your car has zero tires in the grass. You are well on to the rumble strips and even the concrete area behind them with the left side tires but there are no tires in the grass if you're legal. This is a boundary that, most likely, will need to be revisited when a wider car is used at the track but for now, it gives the most room to race without allowing for a situation to be legally put into the grass.

Well, I mean, the whole thing probably is. But many minor things left can cause a major thing.

I completely agree, I know that wasn't too clear up there.

I remember two of the rough spots where that had come into play are the top of the mountain at Mount Panorama, and the fast downhill right at the end of the back straight at Rome.

For those that enjoy autocross, fellow Snail (and Rochester legand) @z06fun is leading the DS class at Solo Nationals through day 1 of 2. Live results can be found here.

It's Thursday, and races are on Sunday, so assume there is practice. Only reason why there wouldn't be practice is if there are no Sunday races.

Some of you may have heard already, others may not.

I have retired from SNAIL.

My last task as a SNAIL Administrator/Director/Chief Steward is complete and can be found here.

I'd like to thank @zer05ive , @JLBowler , @CoachMK21 , @msgt-sd , @nmcp1 , @Rednose58 , @MajorBlixem , @brntguy , @Falango and @vsfit , for their support and assistance, the Steward Corps in its entirety and all of TEAM SNAIL for allowing me to serve SNAIL for the last couple of years.

To all Snails, past, present and future, ya'll have fun and keep it between the lines, pointed the right direction and have the grace to give each other room to race.

Dragonwhisky out.

Although I do not like this, I understand it. It's been a pleasure "working" with you in my time here and I will miss our occasional PSN chats about all sorts of stuff. I hope you enjoy your newly acquired "free" time. It won't be the same without you. Thank you!

I'm with @CoachMK21 on this one as well. Really wish there was a "dislike" button for times like these.

For those that may not be familiar with the level of dedication shone by @Dragonwhisky , have a gander a this and you'll see what I mean.

@Dragonwhisky Thanks for all that you've done to make SNAIL what it is. You will be missed my friend!
