I am annoucing my retirement effective imediately!
Time for change, it's been a long enough run as chatva!
I understand your wanting to get out in front of this, but I think you already know that you've sealed your own fate. Yes, your @chatva account has been banned by GTPlanet, but your new @thorracing is banned from SNAIL. If you really felt it was "time for change", you should have just waited until your 4-week suspension was over and then informed us that you wanted to use a new username. Instead, you chose to create a new account so that you could bypass your suspension entirely without missing a single week. That was a slap in the face to everyone in SNAIL who dedicates their time and effort to keeping this league as clean as possible. You should be ashamed.

I can't really explain how disappointed I am in you, Christian. You've been around for a long time and you're a friend to many SNAILs. Unfortunately, your decision-making seems to keep getting worse over time, and that's too bad. I wish you all the best in future, but your future is unfortunately not here.

P.S. I'm not going to ban you from this thread, but I reserve the right to change my mind.

Not anymore :dunce::guilty::ouch:
I feel sad about all of this! but in the act of transparency I have known about the dual accounts for quite some time and kept my mouth shut! I also called thor directly on it with him denying it. I wish you all the best in your future adventures. And do with me what you will!

You were first to catch it and that completely freaked me out :boggled: it was my first time on and you saw it, wow!

I will sleep on this and properly reply when I find the words!

Race 1 from Sunday. Also my first 'Senior' race sees me start on pole for Formula Vee. Race was black flagged due to an incident on the front straight, and restarted. I got a much better start the second go 'round, and managed to hold the lead for about half the race until Paul passed me for the lead. Finished second in the race, and beat the old man in doing so ;)

you have a very unique shifting style and I know the sound well lol it's like you are shifting from 6th to 2nd all the damn time!
I fixed that!
the paddles on the wheel don't want to play, sometimes it'd give me two gears up or nothing, same thing going down and I'ld bump the car in front so I remapped to buttons.

just re-read and yes I down shift very fast! Watch D1 and you will see! you may think they adjusted brake bios, but not the case!

think of it like this:
your going 160mph to a corner that you need to take at 30mph.
Brake hard while still straight and shift down fast but not so fast as to over-rev, take's practice!

brake early with some gas on and start down shifting, let up on the brake as you get close, and when the car is rotating as you want off brake and start gas "but" remember! it's not a light switch!
you slowly roll onto the gas and then GO!

Special Thanks to @zer05ive for letting me hang around on the thread!

Yes, he does. I generally refer to that technique as "wrong". :)
That was before!
and yea I would also call it wrong but remember I had so many issues with my wheel and shifting but no longer is that an issue :scared: so far! :nervous:

It depends on driver style. I personally like leaving a higher gear till the last moment, and it works very well. Just experiment it at Monza, find a marker and then just let go the throttle but put the highest gear. Now restart, do the exact same thing, but downshift to first gear. With most cars, if you did it correctly, you'll notice the speed goes down much faster with a higher gear than lower gear. HOWEVER, the turn-in is awful in a high gear, so you must remember to downshift just before turn-in.

Absolutely it depends on your driving style as well as your equipment, "controller, wheel" that's totally key and then your setting, again key.
YOU MUST FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.
I have been around for awhile and will tell you "YOUR STYLE" will and MUST change as you progress.
I kept much of my style and fell back, adapted a new style just recently and flew forward!

DON'T GET STUCK IN A RUT!
DON'T KEEP DOING THE SAME THING THAT PROVIDE'S THE SAME POOR RESULTS!

AND FOR VIEWING PLESURE;
I leave you with a self indulging look at last Thursday night's practice race at ROME!
ENLOY.

I think a lot of it is very specific to the type of car. Some cars have a much stronger engine braking effect and benefit greatly from staying in the higher gear until that rpm "sweet spot" is reached, but then some cars decelerate quicker with very rapid downshifts. I distinctly recall a combo that I had figured out that sweet spot was about 4500, I think it was the RUF way back when we ran it at Tokyo. I seemed to have an edge at T1 quite often at that week, although I struggled with control around other parts of the track.

*edit* had to remove a couple quotes

That's why I put most cars in my post. If I'm not going for a very fast lap time but for consistent laps instead, most of the time I downshift according to my speed. Yes it was the RUF that slowed down really fast when downshifting directly. (Is it due to the RR drivetrain?)

Here's a video clip from a recent race. I would like to get my fellow Snails' opinion.

The first part of the clip is where the red car executes a pass in turn 1 on the blue car. The driver of the blue car complained that the pass wasn't clean so the red car slowed down to let him through to launch another attack. The second attack made for some great door to door racing.

My question to my fellow Snails. In your opinion was the pass on the blue car clean? The video clip shows both perspectives from the blue and the red car.

Would love to get your opinions
.

In my opinion it's clean. In karting, as long as the kart hasn't turned yet, it should be ok. The red car overtook the blue car during the braking zone. However, that bump into the black car is technically not legal.

I'm not a steward so my answer may not align exactly with the OLR, but in my opinion that is as clean a pass on the blue car as can be made. I'd never complain about that kind of pass in ChumpCar. There was no contact and plenty of overlap. Now the tap into the rear of the black car...

Basically the same thing that @Vitessekid said.

@MajorBlixem , regarding your question, this was a clean pass man ;)

I talked to the driver of the red car. He said in his defence the black car was very slow through turn 1 therefore the contact. He agrees it may not have been 100% legal but since the tap had no apparent negative effect on the black car he continued.

I agree with the above statements. Red car does come from quite a distance behind, but blue car left about a dozen doors open for that move. If I were to make an assumption I'd say there is a fairly large ability difference between the two regarding that particular corner and blue car maybe didn't think red car could make that move work and therefor didn't bother taking a defensive entry. The contact with black car is virtually negligible to the situation, IMO.

That is a perfectly executed pass. You totally out braked the penguin however the touch on the black car would be an IR, although he never lost anything it was still a touch moving him off his preferred line.

What are you doing here man? Don't you have, like, somewhere to be? :P
Have a good day, it was nice knowing you @Die_Birdy_Die ...I look forward to getting to know Mr. Birdy in the coming weeks.
