One of the problems with the Nixim mod is how GT6 deals with max pedal travel limits. When you first boot GT6 and press the brake pedal, GT6 calibrates the max limit. If you don't press the pedal to its physical limit GT6 calibrates full travel with how far you did press it. You can test it by watching the brake travel indicator. Fresh boot of PS3 and fresh load of GT6, press the pedal halfway or so. The brake indicator/gauge should go full. When you exceed the previous set limit, GT6 re-calibrates. That "eraser" in the nixim mod will break down over time, not to mention probably change with temperature, and provide different physical limits which will in turn cause different limits to be calibrated brake press to brake press. It does provide higher resistance than the GTEye but, if consistency is what you're after, GTEye is the way to go.

Very true but I've known about the boot calibration for a while now. So I just make sure that I fully compress the brake pedal at least once, the pedal still has full physical travel even with the Nixim, before I go about any sim racing.

The "buffer" or "eraser" will degrade over time but it will take a while before anything significant changes; being that most if the friction from the spring occurs on the sides instead of the top and bottom. I bet it could last many hundreds of hours racing in it's life-time and still remain consistent.

Temperture-wise, I've had some extended racing sessions, several hours, and I 've never noticed anything different with how the brake performed. All throughout those times I've had better threashold braking than the stock spring, naturally, but I was always consistent with my braking (ABS off during those peroids).

It's a very nice improvement to the stock brake but it highlights some of the quirks that the G27 has. It's served me well for over a year now and still going strong! You just have to be mindful of some extra things before going out on track. I think the GTEye is a great choice too, and you can worry less about some of the extra things the Nixim embellishes; plus the mess if you ever want to change the brake spring again.

Rain separates the men from the boys. And often, the cars from the track. I enjoyed racing in the rain in Pittsburgh.

I am headed to my 9th track weekend since St. Patrick's Day or so... And I am likely to go 9 for 9 on getting at least one session of rain.

Personally, I love it. It forces the driver to make smooth and steady inputs. I think I learn more in one wet session than in three dry ones.

Outside chance of moving up to Solo class (middle of 5 groups). They want me to work towards becoming an instructor, especially on the older, air cooled stuff. I don't have enough experience yet in Corvettes, M3, Cayman S, and all that fancy dancy stuff to understand what is being turned off or down.

Did you watch the Philip Island Moto GP from last weekend?
Best damn race I've watched all season. 27 laps of goodness, overtaking and a surprise for one of the riders.
A must watch.

I have not. I rarely watch MotoGP. mostly because I can only spend so much time watching racing.

It's 40 odd minutes. It's worth it, oh, it's so worth it...
You will not regret it, trust me. It was a fantastic race.

I finished some practice with the Tomahawk combo. I can't seem to leave the 50s consistantly no matter how hard I try; even though I set a fastest lap of 0:49.6.

A similar thing happened last week with my Nurb. GP practice.

*thinks out loud: I wonder if my fastest is slow...

That's really quick. In the D1-D3 room we got 49.8 (clocked by me :D).

EDIT: 49.3 (again by me :D)

Nice time.👍

It's too bad I average 50-50.5 though. :P Maybe with more practice I can tighten my time group.

I just realized that I missed good racing practice. I wish I would've known about the lobby.

3 people were racing in the end. Did you guys leave or did you guys get kicked out? Just to make sure because I swear I saw 4 people leave at once.

Had a great time at the Thursday Practice last night.
Was a "true practice" night, with mistakes, apologies and laughs in most events.

With an Apology in mind:
@Die_Birdy_Die -
Even though that Tomahawk was more than "two handfuls", I think (haven't watched the replay yet) that I might have not given you enough room during the last race of the night. You may have been forced into the wall prior to the long straight.
If that happened, Sir ..... I am very sorry. I didn't even notice that you weren't behind me until entering T1.

Honestly, that car is moving so fast ........ extremely fast ..... that I'm not sure anything was heard above my screams of "What am I doing?"
If accidents happened - you were either in them before they happened, or through the melee before it registered and you approached the next corner in a panic.
Hopefully, the panic will recede after a few more practice laps.

.

Don't know wasn't worried about it Tex. After all it was just practice and not the easiest car for most to drive.

I was also very fast around there and caught a lot of people off guard by how quickly I could catch up. So don't lose any sleep I don't even remember it! :)

I'll defer to anyone who has raced with others in the Tomahawk, since I did not take part in the official practice last night, but holy cow that car is a handful. I ran about 30 minutes on my own and had a hard enough time keeping it where I wanted to. I'm genuinely scared of how I'm going to fair with others racing around me. I guess I'm mostly concerned with the first sector and the turn prior to the tunnel. Should be interesting.

This might be a good time for any of your super fast folks to share some car control tips.

Just watched that race. ERMAGERD! Those boys are flat insanely good. So many passes 1st through 4th. Doesn't get much better than that.

when braking let off the boost button turn way later then you think you should (don't turn wheel to sharp) when drafting brake really early or get out of the draft (the draft is insanely strong). Also straight line brake don't trail brake I wasn't the fastest but I was the most consistent in the D4-6 practice room.

Oh and if you are at the back and see a crash good luck! pretty sure you just hit a few guys lol

MotoGP is back to it's old ways the last couple of season's, and this year has been spectacular. No other racing beats this!

Trail brake into the corner, the moment you reach the apex (or just a little before), turn full lock (tyres may smoke, don't care about it) without throttling, and once the car is about to finish turning floor the throttle, and once you're straight boost! It's basically that. Boost whenever you can whether the straight is short or long.

Be careful of toooo much tire smoke - I noticed considerable tire wear toward the end of the race. Which, of course, effected control.

@Vitessekid & @Die_Birdy_Die

What do you two mean by boost? This car has a functional that let's it get faster straight-line speed?
You didn't know? Go to the options in GT6, controller settings, your wheel and then set the "nitro" to a button easy to press (I picked X). If you're not using it, either you're godlike or you did the 49.6 offline. Offline is always faster than online.

@TEX36 The number may go down but from 49.3 I dropped to 49.5 on the last lap so it's fine :)

Any of you guys have a link to watch it online, for some reason I can't find one.
