While heel and toe is a good technique to have, it's not an entirely necessary thing to do (Anymore). I never heel/toe with the vee in the dry. However if it were wet, then I would have to. In an FF car it would be a good idea to heel/toe just to smooth things out so you don't exceed the grip levels of the front tires. Racing into the brake zone at 11/10th and crashing through the gears won't make you any faster than if you were to be smooth and easy on your equipment, focusing on turn in and apex to get the run out of the corner. That being said, slowing down quickly means you get on the power sooner.

I agree that there are many ways to 'almost' heel and toe that actually work - as long as nobody is shooting a video of your feet while you drive - do not ask me why I know.

The difference in braking distance from heel and toe done well and heel and toe done poorly is amazing. And embarrassing... Unfortunately I know that as well.

While it is worth knowing in a real car, it is certainly not a skill you must have as you're learning to navigate a track or to use a stick shift.

I had never tried to heel and toe before my track days. I practiced a few times the day before going to the track, but I found it was much easier on the track, because you are using more of the pedal. On the street, you're not on the brakes as hard as on the track, so you have to push your heel down on the throttle more, where when you're on the brakes harder on the track, your heel is deeper already, makes it easier to blip. This may be different from one car to another, but on the track, I found it quite easy to heel toe.

Videos will give you an explanation, but applying it is different. Be light on your feet, be smooth. Everything gets so much easier when you are smooth. Smoothness leads to a car that's better balanced.
I always took advantage of pulling up to stop signs and red lights to practice heel/toe when I was first learning and not in my preferred place to drive.

It's funny that you mention the ease of downshifting while braking harder due to less room between the brake and throttle because that's something I noticed when I became more proficient that I thought I should overcome because it felt somewhat stifling in the long term...which is why I would practice heel/toe at slower speeds to gain precision.

I really think that practice helped out my braking, too because shifting wasn't such a conscious priority anymore which allowed me to brake later and lighter to carry more momentum when needed. We all learn differently though.

only one asshole left
This is uncalled for and another of those reasons we changed the way divisional coordination and organizational communications are being done.

Some folks seem to think these convos can be used to say things they wouldn't say to other's faces, or out where it can be seen by "authority" figures.

With threads, not only will SNAIL administration be able to keep an eye on crap like this, GTPlanet moderating staff will also be able to take a hand in correcting issues of this nature.

In other words, be polite. Be courteous. Be respectful. Or, go away.

sorry I had to post this here, I am no longer a part of D5's convo.

DW, Chat and I had some issues a while back, which have been resolved in a very positive way between us. We both agreed that we were assholes, hence the reference to only one AH left in D5 as I got moved down a division.
No offence was taken by me, in fact I laughed when I saw it. It was an inside joke between a couple of former adversaries.

I'm still wondering why I got moved down a division when my point total is higher that a few others in the Division?

Racing Champ will open the main room....and I will take the slop in two....
All DARTs report to room two pretty please. D.A.R.T. Is pleased to announce that Tex is now the oldest active driver on the team....and allways will be..:irked:

I used hell type when I first started drifting with my buddy in my s14. Since then I haven't really needed to use it even though I should for FWD. I found left foot braking and trail braking works better for me.

So, ultimately, you are behind a router, that is setting up DCHP, behind anorher router setting DCHP, that is behind your isp modem. this is called dual NATing, and if you're not an IT professional, you should not do this. What you need to do is either replace the the router your ps3 is hooked up to with a switch or turn host DCHP host on said router.
Actually, let me take that back. What you should do is hook your ps3 to the very first router and set it up in a DMZ. This will make sure no ports or packets are blocked going to and from the PS3.
Let me ask this, is your modem also a router? Why are you running multiple routers?

Thanks for the help. I'm not really a tech guy so I appreciate the pointers.

My modem is also a router. I will look into getting a better setup this week and hopefully be racing soon.

Anyone a fan of the X-Bow Street? With our current tire regulations it would be on Sport Softs. It's a lot easier to control than I thought and with enough power to get back up to speed after an off, unlike the Caterham. Thoughts?

-Keep the Nissan at Mid-Field Reverse
-Freeze the Caterham and let's keep enjoying it at other tracks
-Sorry Jag, there's only three options and you got the butt end of it :( The other two are just more fun, doesn't mean you're not fun at all.

It's kinda like Marry, ****, Kill. Someone's gotta die lol
I predicted the future!! Well, most of it at least hehe

@Dragonwhisky
I was looking at the score sheet and I have discovered that the last races results for D6 are incorrect as it appears they were put in both as the same race results as R3 R1. Drew did not come in first, in fact he came in 8th, here is the true results of R3 R2, this may change up the final score by a long shot:

1st : RacingChamp30
2nd : rkzjb04
3rd : Hellbringer2m6
4th : WraithQueen8
5th : sinna123sinna123
6th : Raw10_2u
7th : o8jedi
8th : Drewspeed
9th : Killer31124
10th : TEX-36

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Jaguar XJ220 '92 (Racing: Hard) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (8 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @racingchamp30 wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Caterham Seven Fireblade '02 (Racing: Hard) at Tokyo R246 / Forward (6 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @fzappa gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @kickenit4evr so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Car Selection Guidelines
Dealership Cars - The maximum price for a selected car is now $1,000,000
DLC Cars - Only DLC cars that are FREE and currently still available in the PlayStation Store can be selected.

Track Selection Guidelines
Any non-DLC track can be selected as long as a single lap with the car combo'd with it would not take more than five minutes to complete. For example, don't select anything that includes the Nurburgring's Nordschleife.

This week's prize winners are clear to make their selections. Good racing!

The IR Submission Form is now closed.

We have 24 incidents on file. The hard target deadline for reviews is NLT 10PM Eastern on Friday, September 11th, 2015. A soft target is by September 4th. If enough reviews are done by the 4th, the Summary and Official results will get posted then, if not, it'll be done NLT than the 12th.
