With all due respect @JLBowler, you really need to stop talking to people like we're all inferior to you. You of all people should know very well that everything done here is volunteer work, and blowing up on people is eventually going to cause people to leave and retire from the job they're doing at SNAIL. By no means am I trashing what you do for SNAIL, I get that there has to be an authoritive figure to make things work, but I feel you crossed the line this time along with previous situations. Kindness goes a long way my friend.

Just my 0.02$
You would be surprised at how large the number is...

Words on the 'net' are no different than in person. Source, target, content, context; all still exist. I've always felt that downplaying arguments/debates on the internet is little more than a pathetic attempt to brings ones self to some self-righteous level of social distinction, as if the argument itself is less valid or mature solely due to it's medium. Fail.

there's disregarding any digressing insults from the opposing side because you know that's what they're resulting to due to having no further (valid) input, and then there's being a pretententious child who disregards debates completely for the sole reason of feeling insecure for not having any (valid) input themselves to add to the discussion. Way to see things how you'd like them to be, lessen.

...and weren't you the one who said you refuse to get into any theological debates on this thread for whatever reason? By your logic, you'd do the same thing in real life then. That's no way to treat your Jesus, buddy.

I have no idea what you guys are taking about. I do however believe you should aim to be polite on this thread to your fellow racers/club members and that the basics of influence apply here as they do in person. You have more tools to use than a hammer.

A simple "I appreciate your concern, but I need policy/procedure/rule to be adhered to" would probably achieve the same result.

He chose to stem off into his imaginative spin on my vague statement, so I'm pointing out the hypocrisy in what he's saying. He's picking and choosing whilst saying that picking and choosing based off of the way the discussion is taking place is a simple, "self righteous" thing to do.

I'd go back and find the posts but there's no point. I never took part, only watched them play out but he basically took the easy out on his apparent 'beliefs' being questioned by saying it's no time for that because of where it's taking place. Does he not think...?

For a moment I thought you guys were wanting to discuss the difference between Methodists and Baptists.

I was raised catholic, but studied with JWs for years. However I'm very liberal, so guess what I'm doing next?

I am very Angry! and it has nothing to do with you! and there ain't nothing or no one can do about it.

The V.A. is corrently "restructing" upper "senior leadership" in other words, out with rhe old and in with the new!

This is really happening! and this is no Joke!!
top 3 heads allready rolled!

i"m 5th in line, I sure hope they don't interview some of you about me.:nervous:

A question for the group:

When I move I'm considering two places. Williamsburg, Virginia where my brother lives or Canada. A lot of you guys are from the Great North so convince me. Which province? What should I consider? Go!

Kind of hard to really give you a suggestion up here, because it depends on what sort of climate you can deal with, whether you want to live in a city, small town, on the coast, in the mountains, it's tough to say.

Also, you can't just "move" here, you need a reason to move here. There are Visa requirements, which for the most part, require you to have a job offer to move here. Working in visual effects has it's perks, so I meet lots of people that come here from around the world. Americans wanting to move to Canada that are professionals would be looking for a different Visa than people from the rest of the world. I would consider doing lots of homework on that, and different areas first, because it's impossible to suggest something that you may or may not like, especially when you ask people that do not know a single thing about you in person.

Question for you now. What made you decide on Canada? What is it about the country that made you decide that?

Free health care for one. Depending on where in Canada it can be a close move since I live in New York. It's just a place that's not here. I honestly could go anywhere. I like all climates, prefer small towns but near a city. I have the beach now so I'd like to still have that, but mountains are cool to drive right? Hmm....

Well, "free health care" isn't exactly free. Read up on it. Living here as a Canadian, an immigrant, no matter who, you have to pay for government health coverage, which entitles you to your "free health care" at the point of use. Even then, there are restrictions.

What about "here" is making you want to move away? Have you travelled to anywhere in Canada before? If you're ok with climates you'd get in New York, just moving a bit north to southern Ontario or southern Quebec will be similar. Mountains out there aren't mountains if you ask me. The west coast has better mountains, and then the interior of BC, and the area closer to the BC and Alberta border has the Rockies, which are something else entirely, amazing places, but more extreme in the winter.

Based on the little info you've given, and what I'm interpreting as a lack of research and real reason, you need to read up on it. Moving to another country isn't as easy as I think you might perceive it as being, unless you are moving for school. Moving for school is the easiest way, but you are very restricted with how much you can work (less than 20 hours a week legally if I remember correctly). There are tons of resources on the web that can help. I had looked into moving to California before for visual effects, and the list of things you need to do can be overwhelming, and stressful too, as the entire process can hinge on one single decision that is out of your hands (finding work).

go to BC or PEI (either way I'm in the middle :))

Quebec is not similar to NY unless he's on the lake, Quebec gets SNOW! like 7 feet for Montreal last year.

The biggest thing is there needs to be a solid purpose, and that's not coming from me. That's what Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will ask for over and over again. We're nice people up here, but at the border, and with the process of moving here (going both ways mind you), they will grill you for your reasoning, your means to financial sustainability, how long you will be here (it's always temporary at first, then permanent residency eligibility comes later, that's expensive to obtain, in the range of $2000 CDN throughout the process), and anything that could potentially be a hold in your armor that would allow them to say no. We don't hate people and want to build walls, Canada has unbelievable diversity, but they have a plan and process in place for a very good reason (for both ours, and your sake).

New York gets snow too, but I would think Montreal/Quebec City get a bit more. Either way, winters are quite cold in both. Quebec will get ice storms too, and be icy through a lot of winter. I'm not sure how much of that New York gets. I guess it also depends where you are in New York.

Long Island. I get random amounts of snow. It can be very little or it can be 20 inches. Not a lot of blizzards though. I think it'd be impossible to move to Canada for the sole purpose of basic work and just living there.

thats why i said unless he is on the lake(lake ontario). If he is in land a bit he gets snow like me 5 feet total last year.

Edit: Yeah last year they got roughly the same as us.
