Long Island. I get random amounts of snow. It can be very little or it can be 20 inches. Not a lot of blizzards though. I think it'd be impossible to move to Canada for the sole purpose of basic work and just living there.

Ya, unfortunately, basic work is the toughest way to move here (or move from Canada to the US). From what I've read, obtaining a Visa for that, once you've had the job offer, can take months and months, sometimes years to get. Seems quite pointless for an employer to wait that long for a potential employee, so the chances of that happening are nil.

there's disregarding any digressing insults from the opposing side because you know that's what they're resulting to due to having no further (valid) input, and then there's being a pretententious child who disregards debates completely for the sole reason of feeling insecure for not having any (valid) input themselves to add to the discussion. Way to see things how you'd like them to be, lessen.

...and weren't you the one who said you refuse to get into any theological debates on this thread for whatever reason? By your logic, you'd do the same thing in real life then. That's no way to treat your Jesus, buddy.

I fail to see what theology has to do with the topic at hand. I'd generally prefer not to get into that type of discussion in this thread because it's really not the place for it. Folks tend to have very strong opinions on the matter and things often wind up less than civilized. I'm not saying it's guaranteed to happen, I just prefer not argue that point. Besides, I'm not that well versed and honestly don't feel I have the prowness to successfully extrapolate my thoughts on the subject of religion when it comes to a debate. I spent little time at church growing up and truthfully spent 32 years of my life as an atheist. I'm still very new to it all.

Now, the current topic does have a place here as those who were originally involved were discussing the procedures for how the league is run. The evolving discussion was how specifically some people felt the methodology of said discussion could have benefited some from a little more tact. Your post, albeit comical, came off [to me at least] as a bit condescending. Now maybe it wasn't meant that way, maybe I mistook your context. I don't know. But I gather according to the quoted post above that you are not targeting yourself as the "pretentious child", but rather the one who is disregarding/digressing the argument itself due to seeing where it's going. So, if you didn't think that either side had anything else valid to add, and you yourself clearly did not have anything further to add on the topic.. why say anything at all?

However, since you seem to think I'm simply unwilling to share my thoughts on a previous topic. I am not afraid, nor do I lack pride in bringing glory to Him. I'm just choosy where i discuss it. So, if you're curious on my stance or the reasoning for my comment... I did not praise God for my data backup because I think he put it there for me. I praised God in that situation because of the gift I believe he has given all of us. Some of which being the ability to be thinkers, inventors, innovators etc. The qualities that exist in those who've lent a hand in making this hobby possible for all of us. The qualities in all the engineers that have brought to us the platform on which we entertain ourselves, and more specifically the foresight to give us the ability to retrieve our hard work should a catastrophic failure occur. My final point on the matter is I believe there has been a gift given and that gift came far far prior to anything we've ever done. I give credit to PD, only after I give glory to God.

Just saying. If you feel strongly that the topic of religion shouldn't be brought up for some valid reasons, then go on to make points about tact and context and all that jazz of the second paragraph of your post, you probably should not then turn around and write just about as much again about your glorious god and all of his "magnificence." Lest myself, one of those new age militant athiest types who is a bit versed in all of this will certainly have to bring in grand examples of his "miracles" at work. Especially on the technology front.
On this topic, I don't care if I offend someone.
But, as the saying goes, there is a time and a place. In this case, the current events section, as there is no shortage or religious debates going on there.

I used to love baseball as a kid, but then I found racing. I had tried to get back into following baseball a few years back, but it just doesn't grab me like it used to. Interesting how tastes change over time. I still enjoy throwing the ball though, just can't watch it regularly anymore.

Yep, you're right. I felt the need to clarify, but probably would have been better in a PM or something. Thanks. 👍

God is great. Beer is good. And people are crazy.

There's is no such thing as "free" healthcare. Tax payers pay for every thing. Stop drinking the Bernie Sanders koolaid.

Back to racing. Stab and steer, slow in, fast out, chrome horn and all that fun stuff.

Politics is another of those things best left to the current events section, especially since you clearly do not have a grasp on anything Sanders has said. Such as "free healthcare." Which is not something he has ever said or claimed.

On a side note; I was working as assistant track manager yesterday for a lapping day run by some privateer club. Lambo's, ferrari's, mclaren's, the type of cars people with too much money and absolutely no sense of drivink skill or track etiquette would buy. On two separate occasions we had people stop and go reverse course. By far the most atrocious bunch of drivers I've seen on track. The day ended with some guy thinking he could brake later than his big 5.0L Mustang would let him, and ended up breaking two cement blocks and moved them a solid 4 feet from where they originally sat...

So I guess what I'm trying to say is if you ever choose to do a lapping day, make sure you pay attention at the drivers meeting and familiarize yourself with where the track goes and how the flags work.

Just catching up on this thread and the more I read the more apparent it became that I no longer have any need to visit it.

This club is very broad and thusly so is the diversity of its members. We all won't always be on the same page, but there's a certain beauty within it that doesn't require us being "right" or "winning" to appreciate it. Sometimes things go astray of their norm, but reflection often allows us to see its true complexion. I'm certainly guilty of under-appreciating the depth of this club and the vast majority of the time I don't think there's much that happens here that couldn't result in something to be just a little bit better than yesterday.

A question for the group:

When I move I'm considering two places. Williamsburg, Virginia where my brother lives or Canada. A lot of you guys are from the Great North so convince me. Which province? What should I consider? Go!

Williamsburg is nice... To visit. Historic (recreation) Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, etc.

If you want to live there, it would be nice if you're attending William & Mary, teaching there, and... Beyond that, it is a nice, small town, a bit out of the way but not crazy far from Richmond or Virginia Beach.

Yea, just a nice quaint town with many things within an hour's drive away. My brother and I both work at Trader Joe's and if I moved I would be able to keep my job at the local TJ's down there.

For now I just plan on saving up money and maybe going back to school for some music classes to refresh myself. Otherwise I'd just work the simple job and enjoy the simple life. TJ's gives out reviews every 6 months with the opportunity for a raise up to $0.65. You really don't have to do much to get that, just don't do stupid things and you're good. Eventually I can work my way up to the cap which is around $22/hr and that would be enough for me. I don't want to be a manager or anything like that. I just want enough money to sustain life and enjoy it too.

Actually, I think you're just choosing to disregard the relevance between the two. Whether or not you think that it's particularly relevant to this league, or that you think people may have strong opinions towards it, or that you think (catching on yet?) there's the possibility of things potentially getting out of hand due to whatever perceived soreness can be associated with the topic, the fact of the matter is that you still chose to do exactly what you randomly spoke out against...and are pretty much still choosing to do so, only this time thinking that you bought yourself some free pass from any critiquing of your life's choices because "it's not relevant to the thread". You can't just write out more nonsense that you feel is isn't relevant here, send me a message apologizing for speaking out of turn, and then just leave what you said sitting here. One or the other...

...and nobody needed clarification for your obviously joked remark, but the fact that you took a simple response to it back then as some need to declare your apparent 'social distinction' when it comes to discussing said topic says much more about how you think than any "clarification" you yourself could do. You should really re-read what you say before typing it out.

Agnosticism is the 'medium' between what you believe are the solutions for your apparent spiritual struggles, btw. Consider it.

I just moved to Williamsburg at the end of the summer. It's not too bad here, not a ton to do other than go to restraints, but that doesn't bother me since I'm here for school anyway.

And drink beer. My brother and his friend have a long term plan to start their own brewing company. I don't mind that there isn't much around because I like that. As long as there is a kart track nearbyand there's also VIR not too far away, I think it's a nice place to live. Compared to where I am now it would be a relaxing change of pace.

There is a go kart place right near my apartment, I haven't gone yet, so I'm not sure if it's a legit place or one of those ones that's just for fun like at the beach.

@Inconspicuous

At this point all I will say is that I attempted to clear the air and move forward with no hard feelings. We may not agree on numerous points concerning each others' posts, but those things take a back seat to what I attempted to build in PM. It's unfortunate that you seem to not accept my sincerity, but I can do no more about that. Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss any of this further.

Have you brewed much?

Pro brewing sounds fun, but there are some huge hours and very, very early mornings.

If you haven't worked in or around a brewery or microbrewery, keep the idea of starting a brewery just that - an idea.

Find a way to get even a part-time, or potentially unpaid volunteer job at a good brewpub before you jump in. Virginia ABC laws and Federal ATF laws can be stringent.
