You didn't know? Go to the options in GT6, controller settings, your wheel and then set the "nitro" to a button easy to press (I picked X). If you're not using it, either you're godlike or you did the 49.6 offline. Offline is always faster than online.

@TEX36 The number may go down but from 49.3 I dropped to 49.5 on the last lap so it's fine :)

Yeah, I definitely didn't know that this car has boost. Also, I did run an offline practice session under "Test Drive." Hmm... That means I may be able to gain a few tenths more consistantly.
 
And here I thought I was flying last night getting into the low 50's in the second race. You mean I have to find another second in that wild ass car? Oh my oh my..

Never run "offline" The physics are not the same as online. If you want to practice on your own then create your "own" club and practice there.

Offline mode is faster...

@FlipJ Thanks so much for recommending this. It was absolutely brilliant, and demonstrates what is so fantastic about MotoGP!
Fought right to the wire. No spoliers, but that move by Iannoni with 3 laps to go, from 4th into 2nd was master-class.

I used to be a dedicated MotoGP follower...back then it was Wayne Rainey on Team Marlboro Yamaha for me. I stopped watching when he had his accident.

Interesting coincidence that I watch this today, the first motogp I watch since then, and I just got a message from the AMA that they have named Wayne Rainey the 2015 AMA Hall of Fame Legend. I guess that is a sign I can move on.

I didn't know who to cheer for...a Spaniard (even though my ancestry is actually Portuguese)? Team Yamaha (Rainey was on Yamaha, and I ride one), or Team Ducati (I have always loved them, they didn't race GP back when I followed). No matter, each of the top 4 was one or the other!

The main reason why offline is faster is tire wear and gas usage is turned off which means that game gives you 0 liters of fuel instead of 100, which is usually good for about 1-2 seconds a lap difference.

I'm afraid you have a misconception here Gunny. It has nothing to do with fuel weight or lack thereof. It has everything to do with network latency + network latency compensation algorithms + processing horsepower to calculate those algorithms. This was tested ad nauseam during GT5 and GT6 is no different. If you want to you can test it yourself. Open an offline test drive in a car, and at a track, you know well, run some laps, record best or average time, open an online room with just yourself and do the same. Now start adding others in your online room and run some more laps. After that, have someone else open an online room and do it again. You will not see much loss, if any, between offline and just yourself in an online room. Once you start adding in others to an online room, and the more you add, the more the difference will be, the slower your times will be. It's just math, time, distance and how fast the processors, in every device the math hits, can FLOP. And there's not much anyone can do about it. It's the nature of online gaming.

Finally all the sports channels around here can focus on hockey and less on how Toronto was going to win the world series... Mind you, it is rare that any sports team from Toronto makes the post season anymore! ;)

To all of you "fussing" about the Tomahawk:
1) Accept the challenge and quit complaining;
2) In practice (today?) start with slow laps, get used to the car, and gradually speed up;
3) Take some time - rather than just jumping in and going 110% right out of the pit gate;

I hope it sticks around for at least one event on a Superspeedway, like Indy or Daytona.
I think it would be more acceptable to the members with less Corner Challenging and more Draft Challenging.

PS: I finally figured out how to get the Boost to work - Map a button on the controller or wheel for Nitro .......... and then hold it down coming out of a turn prior to a straight. Last night, at Indy, the guys said they were holding the Nitro button down for the entire lap. Lap times dropped 2 seconds ......... 270+ going into T1 is a HOOT.

Really? What's your point? Because, as my girlfriend would be happy to point out, GT6 is unnecessary, this league is unnecessary, video games as a whole are unnecessary. For crying out loud, 90% of North American life is unnecessary.

I don't particularly like the car either, but I accept his choice, and I accept the challenge, and I will try to learn from it.
In my opinion, it is the combos you don't like, the combos you are not good at, the combos that are one you would never pick yourself, the combos that challenge you...those are the ones where you have the most potential to learn (and thus improve).
 
The time constraints for learning is what's so concerning.So many of us have so very little time to dedicate to this endeavour,and the learning curve for some of these combo's are just downright ludicrous!To make for good fun racing whilst staying within the bounds of the law(OLR),We need to take into consideration the time constraints which all ( or nearly all) have to adhere to when picking these combo's.There are timelines that need to be adhered to so that we might have more time to practice our craft,so that we might be able to race a clean race and make it fun rather than a crash fest!Not complaining,just stating the obvious.* END OF RANT*

Sucks to be a Mets fan? Being I no longer live in NY I understand your sentiment DP but for those of us who have left NY and live in other cities, any team from NY will do. This is going to be a great series and being an original Mets fan, went to the my first game in the old Polo Grounds vs the Pirates in 1963, we stand a good chance to be the World Champs. Those young arms remind me of the '69 team that shocked the baseball world. Let's Go Mets.....
 
I took the 'hawk out for a spin last night and yes, it's not a car you can just manhandle. It's like anything new, it takes time and practice. I have very little practice time these days but I am looking forward to the challenge. I'll be on later tonight getting my practice in, join me if you can.
 
With the Tomahawk, you can't let the Tomahawk control you, you have to learn to control the Tomahawk. It is a beast to tame and will go out of control if the beast senses you trying to put it out of it's norm. Tame the beast of the Tomahawk and you will find the car is enjoyable to drive.
 
I don't get it. Unless I'm reading wrongly, to me it looks like you guys can't keep the car on the track? Shouldn't it actually be easier since the car has so much downforce?

What are you talking about unrealistic?!? I already pre-ordered a laser-drive Chevrolet...I only had to make a $20K non-refundable deposit, and they guaranteed that as soon as Chevrolet builds a laser drive car, I would be reserved one of the first 1000! There was no expiry date on the contract, but I'm sure it won't be too long...

The main problem I saw (and felt) was that the car has so much downforce and power that anything out of the ordinary makes it wiggle and that's that.
Also, once you release the DRS-type thing, the downforce kicks in and the car turns a lot more, which causes a bunch of going out onto the grass on the inside of the corner.

But it's a fun challenge to tame the beast. Racing with 10 others is quite the feeling.
