From my personal experience (and I believe we're in pretty close divisions so this might be relevant to you), I try a few wild and crazy things the first few laps (get the car upset, get a feel for where the traction will break loose in each turn, shimmy the weight around, etc) then I start marking out braking points, turn in points, and taking note of the minimum speeds that I can maintain in a turn once I get it "right". After that I work on consistency - aka finishing several laps in a row, not only without hitting a cone or leaving the track, but without seriously botching a corner. To do that, I usually have to back off on the aggression a little. I never restart the course at this point because each accident is a lesson. Once I'm consistent, I just keep repeating laps and taking note of where I'm losing time in each corner, slowly trying to shave off time with tiny modifications. Only change one thing at a time - otherwise you won't know what change caused the improvement. Finally, usually somewhere around this point I get into a groove and the time starts falling off. After setting my best time I usually go for several laps more and try to repeat the performance, because natural variations in your "uncontrolled time" (those hundredths that you can't see or are too small to control) will eventually make your time even better, almost randomly. Rinse and repeat a few days a week. I never spend more than 90 minutes on a session unless I'm really taking off chunks of time near the end.

And don't give up on the Academy! You will feel much better knowing you tried hard and failed rather than just gave up! And you'll learn along the way.

Yup, I received it! Thank you!

For anyone who hasn't noticed, I've transferred the sponsorship list over to the first post of the thread as I wanted to make sure everyone got recognition for their support. As each sponsor's funds are received, I'm putting a  next to their name. :)

Here are the unofficial results from our league night on May 4, 2014

If you believe that another driver exhibited poor racecraft or is guilty of an S.N.A.I.L. OLR violation, please file a Racing Incident Report by 11pm Eastern / 8pm Pacific tonight. Be sure to follow the instructions precisely or your submission might not be addressed! If you're undecided on whether or not you should file an incident, please remember that clean racing is not only your right, it's also your responsibility and something that we all need to be accountable for.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - BMW 2002 Turbo '73 (Sport Hard tires) at Eiger Nordwand - Short Track / Reverse (8 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @msgt-sd wins Prize A, they get to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
    Round 1 - Toyota 2000GT '67 (Sport Hard tires) at Tokyo R246 (5 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @CarCzar gets Prize B, he has the option to "freeze" the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the "freeze" away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @joe_diben so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your car and/or track selection until all racing complaints are filed and you are given the "all clear" to announce your selection. It's also important that you review our Car/Track History so that you can see a complete history of how many times we've raced each car and track (just scroll to the right of that tab). Please remember that originality is always appreciated. Therefore, picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). Most importanty, make sure you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, the car should not hit its rev limiter at any point during the race (even in the draft).

    Car Selection Guidelines
Dealership Cars - The maximum price for a selected car is now $1,000,000
DLC Cars - Only DLC cars that are FREE and currently still available in the PlayStation Store can be selected.

    Track Selection Guidelines
Any non-DLC track can be selected as long as a single lap with the car combo'd with it would not take more than five minutes to complete. For example, don't select anything that includes the Nurburgring's Nordschleife.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting.

Well first of all a top 5 finish with 3 last places is good for me. 2nd I loved the BMW 2002, and wished it would stay. 3rd I hate the BRZ and wish it would die in a hole. 4th @goofytyler watch your back I am settling in to my zone.

@zer05ive Did we get rid of the freeze option for Prize "C". If we did, it's news to me. Maybe we're just commenting before the post is finished.

@Dragonwhisky do the winners have the all clear?

No, we didn't change anything with the prize freeze. There's a number of changes I make to the results post script before I post it, and I forgot to make that change. It's now corrected.

It's nice to see that Snaliens make the same mistakes as the rest of us sometimes.

Also: @zer05ive I don't see any data (all zeros) in the results spreadsheet... not sure if it's just me or if there's something up.

We all make mistakes in D1 but from what I could tell the reason you got tapped and bumped a lot
@chuyler1 cause there's spots on track where everyone is full throttle and you will brake or
Let off gas slightly and then d1 is able to close the gap so easily as time goes on you will start to
Mesh with the whole group, and combo one and two weren't so great lol

    Haha. No pressure, right?

I was thinking a non-FR car at a track we haven't raced in the last 2-3 months...but other than that I'm not sure.

Mini coopers at Brands Hatch sounds like a possibility. I like SSR5 too. I'll be testing some combos online in 1-2 hrs. I'll post the room ID then.

Remember things are currently unofficial. But if you are looking at FF I find both Clio RS 11 and 02 fun. Also the two Suzuki Swifts (05 and 07) are surprisingly fun for there low power. But have fun testing regardless!
