My G29 gas pedal started acting up.

On Sunday night with GTSport I had my gas pedal flat to the floor but occasionally the indicator jumps up and down and sometimes only giving me half the gas I'm asking for. Result feels like misfiring and getting passed on the straights.

On PCars2 on Monday I left the pits and every time I press the gas I get a black screen. When I lift everything is ok, press the gas and I get a black screen again. (I can see the telemetries and dials and everything, but instead of the track I see black.) I went out and restarted my PS4, re-calibrated the pedals and went to a private testing room where it seemed to be OK. Came back to the online room and could only see telemetry and dials but everything else is black. So I left.

Haven't had a chance to look any further. I'm out of town till Friday and again Next week from Sunday night till the next Friday, after which we move to our new place. So, I will not have much troubleshooting opportunity between now and December 7

On this coming Sunday I will give it a shake and get the vacuum cleaner in there and see if I can suck some dirt out of it, but if it is a problem I'll have to talk to Logitech and their warranty department. I might be out of racing for the rest of the year....

That first paragraph is exactly what is been running into. Turning it upside down (and eating cables although I don't really think that did anything seems to have solved the issue.
Hope that helps.

Sorry to hear that.

I had a braking problem I was able to fix. The brakes kept coming on for me. If you open the pedal assembly, just set it upside down and take all the screws out (big and small ones). This way you can get to the parts/ wires and dirt. And, it's easily to reassemble it. If you do need to remove a pedal to get to the POTs (potentiometers) just remove its foot pad first. The wiring is nicely colored, so take some pictures so they go back the same way.

The POTS do get dusty and all kinds of stuff gets into them. Cleaning with air, or alcohol will work, but blow dry before it is powered up again. The shaft of the POTs have play in them and can effect the resistance the circuit sees if the fingers inside are not pressing hard enough on the printed circuit inside the POT. I had to slide a spacer between the bracket and the mounting nut to tighten the pressure on the fingers. Problem solved for my brake pedal.

Good luck and hope to see you back racing ASAP.

That's tough man. Sorry to give you the bad news though....Don't count on Logitech for support. Bin there, done that.
What you were mentioning in the first paragraph about the pedal/gas, coming to think of it I'm wondering if that's been happening to me at times. It does seem to happen though intermittently. Can't say I get that black screen you mention though. On the other hand I've gotten the occasional wheel disconnect (says "Controller disconnected")....Happened just Monday gone when I was doing so well eyeing up the podium ....In an instant through no fault of my (((((VRAPPS!!!!)))).....Disconnect. Boy I let out a good cuss.

About the brakes, I had a problem with that before and switched to a spare set I had. That seemed to be going well since but I noticed, again Monday gone, at times when I wasn't even mashing the brakes I noticed the brake indicator come on, then off again some time after.
When I was experiencing the brake issue before I switched, somebody mentioned delving into it, dismantling, cleaning whatever (maybe it was Xradkins who suggested, can't remember right now). I was going to try but it seemed a bigger task for me so I ended up just replacing with the spare set I had. I'll be keeping an eye out to see how it goes hoping it would not reoccur. Wheel sets are expensive.

Like XRad said, a good cleaning usually solves the issue. These pedal assemblies are very easy to take apart, clean and put back together, and as mentioned, take a pic of how the wires lay so you don’t forget.
I take mine apart every six months, give them a good cleaning and have never had an issue.

First, a Happy Thanksgiving to all our neighbors to the south! (And that one guy way to the west!)

Second, and please bare with me, as I think we owe you an explanation of our thinking behind these changes we keep trying.

Splitting the group but staying in one room worked out pretty good a couple of weeks ago, but with a few not being able to get in, the decision to try two separate rooms was made. However, we now think that this is not the best avenue to take. One of the big things for us is to have a good and clean race night, but to have fun and laughter while doing so. We have proved that this can be done for the most part. The night has a certain flare for the casual nature and joking that goes on that you won't find elsewhere. Splitting the group up changes all that, and for some, it just turns the night into another serious race night that you can get in most other leagues. We don't want that to happen. Mike and I want to race together with our friends and keep the room dynamic going. The other thing I want to cut out is the ranking system that I was having to do each week. It takes up time during the week, but makes my workload during the race evening such that I hardly get time on the track before and during the races. So this will be why there will be qualifying for race 1 as a whole group this time, it's easy, quicker and we do a standing start for race 1. Mike and I have a very good idea of who belongs where so you will be placed by that knowledge.
We can't please everyone, but lets try this and see how it pans out.

Here is how the night will go this Monday and I'm sure there will be tweaks to follow!
  • One room, two groups, each group in a different car. Group A will be in a faster car so that during qualy most of them should stay in front of Group B. This will help keep us separated and make the start better.
  • 45 min qualifier to start race 1, standing start. Race 2 & 3 will still be reverse grid, but we will let you know exactly how that will go before race night as we still need to discuss this a bit more.
We will pick the cars this week and then make a decision if each group will do a separate vote on two cars in the future.

We expect all the Group A drivers to take extra caution when passing the Group B drivers. On the flip side, Group B drivers will need to be more aware of who is coming up to pass.
BTW, I like the sound of Group A & B better than Div 1 & 2, doesn't sound as devisive. But maybe we can come up with better sounding names for the two groups, more in line with our group of misfits. There's a challenge for you!

We will keep the active drivers list going so that anyone on that list has precedence over inactive drivers before the 8:30 deadline.

I saw this post by @oldguy58 in Zii's thread and thought it might interest a few of you who have had disconnect issues.

Disconnect issue..like most of you on pcars2, lobby disconnects are a pain. Since I've started doing the following procedure this has pretty much stopped happening.

Start pcars2 and go to main menu. Don't start driving or join any rooms yet. Press PS button to get back to PS4 main screen. Go to settings icon, open and scroll down to network then select. Click on set up network then select easy set up and your method of connection.

At this point you'll probably get a message in the upper left that tells you app can't connect to server and some of the process won't work.

Ignore this message and continue. System will the establish new isp settings etc.....once done click on test connection at the bottom of the screen.

Like I said once I started doing this every time I start pcars2 I haven't been disconnected from 1 lobby.

Hope this helps!

Sorry for the triple posting but they are all separate issues, plus it's partly my thread so 🤬 lol

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT

For those following Lobban's mirror breaking/freaking out the woman adventure, he tried to pick up the female judge in court today and she promptly threw him in jail for the weekend, something about contempt, blah blah. He said he has wifi and can keep his Ipad with him. He was crying when I talked to him, but I think he will calm down and we might hear something from him.

While he is sitting in jail, my buddy stopped by in his new Porsche Macan GTS. I took it for a good drive and I was impressed for what it is. Lots of power (360hp), but the handling is amazing. I had it in Sport mode and paddle shifted most of the time. Very comfortable as well.

Hi guys.....wifi in jail....whoda thunk. Me and my cellmate Bubba are just getting to know each other, he's a big mother and I don't like the way he's looking at me. The Judge was a woman who would not fall for my worldly charm and threw me in jail for the weekend, maybe the wink was a little much, I even stuffed a cucumber down my pants, (ok, a gerkin), I think she was gay.
I was crying because of the body cavity search....they found my favorite old hot wheel car that I sat on years ago.....I thought it was lost for good.....tears of joy my friends......after the tears of pain from Olga, She Wolf of the SS, man her fingers were fat. Warm me up for Bubba who was just telling me about a new game called drop the soap, might check it out at shower time. Did you know Vaseline is free in jail?

Really, it was a bit of a joke, when asked how I plead, it was guilty with an explanation. She listened to what I had to say, asked if I had any past record, which I don't. She said she believed my story and would be interested to see the other woman in court to see her explain why a guy my age who has no past history would lose his temper so bad. She said if I would pay restitution for the woman's mirror, the charges would disappear.
Paid....charges dropped. Life goes on, let's go racin.

"Telling me about a new game called drop the soap, might check it out at shower time. Did you know Vaseline is free in jail?"

Watch out if they issue you powdered soap...it takes longer to pick it up in the shower. Same with soap on a rope, especially if the rope is 5' long. And you won't need vaseline for long; soon you'll be needing denture grip just to keep something inside. Toilet wine is known to be an aphrodisiac, so enjoy and make sure not to tense up or else it'll tear. Seriously though, I'm glad to hear it was just some restitution and no other repercussions.

****Update - the Black Friday sale is over, but B&H will do flash sales between now and Christmas**** On another topic, Sim Racing SALE! B&H is starting their Black Friday deals. Great customer service & prices with free shipping (possibly to Canada, but I’m not 100% sure about that). Here’s a list of Thrustmaster stuff on sale, and I know some of you need new pedals…

Just went and got PCARS2 Day One Edition with the Japanese cars pack for $35 and change after tax from Gamestop. Had to wait on line for a couple hours but it was more than worth it. Will be playing Come Christmas night. Will be getting the season pass closer to Christmas and the One year PS plus subscription so i will be joining @Mike Lobban @aerolite and others in less than 30 days.

Excellent!
That's great to hear, look forward to racing with you again RC. We've got you and Paddy, now we just need to see RAW some others turn to the dark side. As I've said before we have beer - and sheep!

Speaking of shopping, I picked up a racing chair at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago - called an Xrocker 2000series. It's specifically for gaming/racing sims and has built in bluetooth and speakers - the idea making it sort of a 'buttkicker' experience I think.
I really didn't care about the audio part, but had been wanting a better chair for racing, I'd been using a kitchen chair and before that a old office chair. The kitchen chair gave me better leverage on the pedals but could get uncomfortable and especially on Sunday nights I often finished with an achy-breaky back. The xrocker sits lower and is pretty comfortable, although I still put a pillow for better lumbar support. It had generally good reviews when I looked it up.
The bad news is the thing is freaking $167US! The price might not be so bad if I was using the audio functions, but I use headsets like most of us for the stereo functions and that it makes me feel more like i am wearing a helmet making it more immersive. Plus it makes it easier for wifey to watch Judge Judy and hear what BS Lobban is feeding JJ.

@The__Camel I'm calling the 113 paint scheme this week! Because I know you always like to pick the same scheme (every week since you've joined) lol we obviously have the same eye for a good looking race car haha. You have me in speed so let me have the scheme... 13 is my favorite number so the 113 will do. Doesn't hurt it's stunning. Look forward to Monday guy's!

I love crumpets!

The rain gods are making an appearance. I'd put money on race 2 and 3 being wet... lol. On another note I did a little testing and once again D1 has a great car/track combo. Very fun.
The forecast for Kent tomorrow shows a very good chance of precipitation later in the evening!

Im out again guys, surry:banghead:. I will be working outside into the night trying to finish my deck, try again next week

Race day!
I have removed the five drivers from the invite lists below that have stated they will miss tonight, Samhain, phile, Robbie, Red, and GR8. Any Inactive drivers that want to race tonight need to let us know by 7pm est.
There is another change this week, if you have not read the post then please do so. (report #728 above).
The amount of laps to get us to 30 min's are based on Group A times.

8pm - Start 45 min's qualifying

Race 1 - GP - 20 laps (Standing start based on qualy)
Race 2 - Indy - 38 laps (Rev grid from race 1, Group A will still line up first)
Race 3 - GP - 20 laps (Rev grid from race 2)

The forecast is definitely favoring rain at some point tonight.

BTW, I had mentioned in report 728 about the names for each group, so I put out a challenge to see if anyone could come up with some interesting names for each to better suit our lounge misfits! Because how would we decide which group gets the Mr. Awesome, so instead, if we come up with new names, then each week the two groups can have their own "MR. ???????" or whatever.
Well, I never heard anything, (guess no one reads all my stuff :banghead:, :D ). So I'm putting it out there again, we have enough warped degenerates here that something amusing is likely to come out :boggled:,, :dopey:, :dunce:, 💡, :D

I don't see a 113 for this week

I'm not sure if there's a reason you guys don't turn on manual pit entrance/exit but in my opinion it makes it so much better. Seems more realistic. You can turn on the manual option without having the pit exit penalty on as well. During the race when coming in for a pit stop having to get down to speed is a great challenge. We are all capable and it will be the same for everyone. Either way no big deal but I think it would add some positive flavor to our races.

I try each week to get my co-big cheese to have it manual! You'll have to bring it up with him!

BTW, I am straying from my usual yellow/black this week as my real life race #55 is available, and it is quite a nice blue and silver.
