Have Cars with 0 miles/only trade cars with 0 miles.

Oh, sorry, misunderstood you there. :ouch:

I like to get 0 mile cars, dupe them, and use one, keeping the other one unused. If I ever want to do an "official" test one them (like I am in the process of doing here ) it keeps all the cars on even ground for comparison.

Aside from that, it makes a nice collection. :dopey:

It is simple, if a car has 17.00 miles is considered used and will be about 4,000dlls cheaper than one with 16.98 miles on it(speaking of a CAMRY '09). If a car has 0 miles is considered out of the box which no car dealer will ever have since they put about 4.00 miles at the car manufacturer. I now this since I worked for Rogers and Rogers Toyota(Dealership) in EL Centro, CA for 2 years. We once got a car from the factory with 1.8 miles and the owner keep the car for himself because it was a rare thing to see. People are usually cheated with the mileage since most cars are test driven, go beyond the mileage, and still pay for the new car price. Its simple people prefer a car with lower mileage.

Well, if people want to make museum pieces out their cars there's nothing wrong with having people play the game the way THEY want to play it, but it personally makes no sense to me.

If I buy or trade for a car it's because I want to DRIVE it - after all, if the focus was exclusively on collecting PD could forgo modelling cars and just hand out a ton of museum cards every time we logged on... after all, why spend extra effor on a car no one will drive?

Car like X2010 and FGT, I prefer it come it 0 mile, because after few thousand miles it the engine started to lose power, even with engine rebuild. It dropped 1hp at 1st,but later it'll get start noticeable. I duped my fave cars only, keep xtra one each, one for test drive another one for collection.

Most 0 mileage cars aren't real anyways, they are just duped copies of a car when it was new, the original owner probably drove the original car for lots of miles.

This whole game has been tainted by duping, if someone has a zero mile garage the first thing I think is "Oh he's a duper", not "oh he's a collector."

There are threads detailing how useless chassis restore and engine restore are and how they have no impact on performance, therefore mileage really has no impact on performance.

Not entirely true.
Engine rebuild is used once the car starts to permanently lose HP (oil change won't recover it to full power).

I have about 160 cars with 0 miles in my file and none come from duping or bday glitching all of the are legit. Although I have 15 other files that I transfer really expensive cars from they are also legit(Seasonal Events). In my main file I just do the Championship in Expert series(1,000,000+cr) in 40 minutes and buy all cars that I don't own.

Im assuming here, that 0 Miles = No chassis repair costs. For example, I took delivery of a brand new X2010 with no miles, did one lap, crashed, put on like 5 miles, went to get it repaired, 500000 credit cost.

That's the impression I get, too. A great trade that costs you 500,000 for chassis repairs and 500,000 for an engine rebuild suddenly might start seeming like less of a great trade...

Me, I don't care. If I'm trading, it would be *nice* if someone did all that stuff ahead of time (since it's generally assumed such traders are "duping" the cars anyway, and again, I don't care), but I wouldn't feel worse about the trade if those things weren't done.

And it might be another reason people DO dupe their cars. If you have a zero-mile example you can put away, and another you can put miles on, some might find the game more fun that way.

I've got two x2010s now. One of them has zero miles - I just got it for hitting Level 35. The other has over 20,000 miles on it - I traded for it (had some miles on it then), and it's been my primary grinding car since. It's has a couple engine rebuilds and a couple chassis refreshments now. ;)

So now duped cars are considered "unclean"? Oh my gosh, why does it matter?? I started duping cars yesterday and it's great. Now I can keep one car stock and use the other one for a full tuning. Heck, I'd dupe one to keep in my garage w/ zero miles just to look at too! :dopey:

...for the same reason that a new car is more desirable than a used car.

A new car is more desirable than a used for the following reasons.

1. You know it hasnt been thrashed
2. You know it hasnt been neglected
3. It comes with a warrenty
4. You know that no inconsiderate prick has been smoking in it and ruining it.
5. You know one of the interior is stained or damaged and everything will be working.
6. Banks will more easily give finance for a new car over a second hand car.

None of wich actually apply to GT5.

that said, If i were a collector....I could see the value in 0 mile cars.....but if i were a collector id have a stamp book, not a ps3.

I agree, it makes no sense.
I made a post asking this question about a month ago and never got a good answer from anyone.
If I have a car with 0 miles and the same car with 50K miles and I do an engine and a chassis rebuild, then what is the difference between the two, beside the arbitrary number on the screen in the garage? The cars perform exactly the same. So why does zero miles hold any value? It's stupid, if you ask me.

With a thread title like this, I probably should've guessed this was another "I don't like how others play their game" thread. Onto the pile with you!
