Hey Guys

Just wondering how do those with very limited playtime (inc me) play GT5?.

Do you go straight to the racing and do nothing else?. Do you get all the licenses and special events out of the way?.

How do you play through the game??

Me?, i try to do a bit of everything, but that way (to me) seems to be slowing my progress down a lot.

Maybe i should just focus on one particular aspect of the game (eg license or special events), so that when i do finally get more time, i will be able to enjoy the game and just race.

Man i wish i didnt have a life someimes.

I don't have the game myself, nor a ps3, but I have a buddy at an Internet-cafe that lets me play for free at dead hours when nobody comes.

I plan to play it without a plan. Just enjoy the game, have some progress in GT mode, have a go at the course maker, race online etc.

If you want to get relatively "easy" money and big player XP in the fewest time (to get access to buy and drive the more high performance cars) then concentrate on the Special Events. The Go-Karts provide decent cash and XP for a low level player. Honestly I have won about $2.5M and most of it was through the special events (which I'm close to completing all of them as Gold).

I try different events not in a particular order. I´ve been doing license tests every other day(I´m still missing the S license), I try out some special events, but mostly, I save alot of credits to but my favorite cars. After I get them, I usually take them to SS route 7. So basically I´m going really slow with the progress. So far I´m in level 19 for A-Spec, and 0 for B-Spec.
Hey, no need to hurry! Better make it last;)

Yeah! the Kart challenges give you alot of money! Also the Mercedes Benz driving school challenge. They are very easy(if you know the nordschlife by heart). The bad thing as that you get the prize only once. But a good alternative is the Polyphony digital cup. Only three races, you get like 30K each plus 90K for the whole event.

(sorry for the double post. Wont happen again)

Im at level 14 right now and seem to be staying there.

I know im not the best driver, so maybe that has something to do with it as well. I tried golding the licenses and have only done 10 before giving up. Not giving up for good. Just wanted to do something else. Take a break from them if you will.

Ive done some special events up to intermediate. Those damn buses have me beat, even on beginner. I for the life of me cannot get that down at all. Infact im not even close :ouch:

I am as well playing the game with the DFGT wheel for the first time. Ive played/owned all the GTs and this is my first time with the wheel. Its a hard transition, yet one i am actually enjoying.

Im sure i will get further into it the more i play. My problem seems to be finding the time.

I am in the same boat. Married with two kids and only one TV in the house. I get maybe an hour a night after the kids goto bed and assuming the wife doesn't mind watching TV on the laptop. I concentrate on a mix of A-spec, licenses and special events when I have time and try to sneak in a B-spec race or two while giving the kids a bath or washing bottles. The important thing is to research the heck out of what's going to win the events and going in there fully loaded because redoing anything just isn't an option if you want to advance XP quickly. The first night I tried just doing it blindly and ended up spinning my wheels more than progressing in the game. That's fine for people with no lives but for us hard working dads we need all the help we can get.

Try doing more races. Trust me, the license tests are not the best way to get leveled up. Usually they give you like 1000 points for golds, but it is too much work. If you race on the professional tier, you will be getting more than 2000 points per win. Try the Special events too. Getting golds on them is easier tham the license tests. I got the game on Friday, and I´m almost in level 20 without even having the S license, and the rest of them I have them mostly in bronze.

Is golding the special events important?. Ive golded a few, but mostly i have silver and bronze in the ones ive tried. Do you get cars or anything for golding them?. As far as i can tell the license tests are not as important as in previous games, so i think i will hold off on those and put what time i have into the special events and the A Spec races. Maybe an hour each during the week, and then 4-5 hours on weekends. Thats all i can do for now.

Oh btw i have like 14 cars in my garage and just under 100.000 credits :grumpy:

Thanks

doing one license a day when i get to play and as much racing as i can, haven't even touched b spec. think I'm level 17 and have the license that opens the expert races. Been running the heck out of the MR series, fun tracks and like my cars i have that are MR.

Thing is the game will only get better as the updates roll so I'm happy to pace myself wait for my wsp to arrive and savour the experience

WSP? wheel stand pro by any chance?.

If so, then its really awesome and its one purchase im glad i made 👍

It may not seem it when you put it together, but it really is stable and makes the gaming experience more enjoyable.

I have limited playtime as well. As much as I'd love to gold all the special events and licenses i just dont have time to enjoy the full game AND gold everything. I've even completely sworn off licensing as I haven't seen any use for it (aside from a few prize cars).

i have not much time to play it daily as well... as soon as it arrives in my place ( out for delivery some minutes ago \o/ WO-HO ) i plan to play it a little bit a day. I do this thing with every game i have..if i´m struggling with it... stressing, not having fun at all...i stop playing. Try next day. The major point for me, is have fun playing the game, not the otherway.

In the next day, i have a fresh mind, more patience, and the game becomes more pleasant in a general way. So, i´ll probably play this game for centuries...until my phat dies ( hope this doesnt happens soon )

Well golding them is not that important. As long as you get silver in some, its ok. But it depends. For example, the Mercedes driving school gives you alot of XP, credits, unlocks the nordschlife and it even gives you a brand new C63(I think I got it there, I don´t remember) if you do it in pro and get all silvers. In the other hand, Karting only gives you alot of credits and XP points if you gold them all, which is very easy. Also try the Grand Tour Event. That gives you alot of XP even if you don´t gold it. I haven´t tried others yet.

Just convince yourself that you can work on only 2 hours of sleep. That will give you plenty of time to play!

look into the prize cars for each race & license and then come up with a plan to use the prize cars for the events that they qualify for. they may not always be the best car to win with but at least you will not need to earn money in time wasting races just to get a car for a required race.

but really, get a car you like and race it on a track that you like!!

I'm level 13 right now only because I am studying for finals in every other waking moment of my life. Special Events are a definite way to make quick cash. And right now I'm just focusing on the racing part. I have the first two licenses done (not all gold though) but i'm still trying to get some serious time to put in.

Edit: One thing I can say is try to use the same car for multiple events. Mazda RX7 is good for FR challenge and also 90's Japanese race.

I tried that and fell asleep at my work desk once. I work 10 hour days, 5 days a week. From 7am-5pm and i wake up at 5am.

My body needs at least 6 hours a night sleep...............hey im old ok?? If i dont get much sleep i also get migraines.

Its hard to get 2 hours of playtime a night some nights but i do. The wife nags at me sometimes, but oh well if it wasnt for this it would be for that.

I'm in a similar situation. I am only level 8 or 9 at this point with 2 cars in teh garage (+1 KART) and around 70,000 credits in the bank. haha

I tend to run a few events in the A-spec to earn credits and then spend the credits on upgrading my cars.

I do not even understand half the threads here when they talk about iAB license, or AMG challenges, or other stuff I have not even touched!
:dunce:

oh well....all part of being busy in the real world!

+1 - I feel your pain frooky, I feel your pain... To answer one of the other posters, I do the licence tests and special events because they are short. Yes some are quite difficult, but most are less than one minute soit does allow me to make some progress in the limited time I have available post 11:30pm!

exactly, only thing is theres a 2 week wait on shipping so im not expecting it until the 10th dec:/ i dont know if i can continue to avoid playing GT until that point though. its touch and go really.

previously ive bought a metal PC stand that failed (too wobbly), had a speedblack evo (too wobbly and low quality materials and screws etc) now kinda use a chest of drawers but its just not 'right' so i decided to just spend the dollari and get the WSP. i only have a DFGT but the game is amazing with it.. trial mountain + supra 3.0GT Turbo = :)

I just play as much as I can, when I can.

Its your game, you can play it at any pace you want. You notice, in all the hoopla, there were never any mention to how long the game is, unlike other games that boast to have, "1000+ hours of gameplay!" or whatever. That's because there is no set or suggested time to complete the game. That's, yet another one of the awesome things about the GT series!

I wouldn't compare myself to other posters here, of coarse a junior in HS is going to be able to log in more time, he doesn't have anything else to do!

That sucks you have to wait two weeks for it 👎

You shoudlnt have any issues regarding wobble using it 👍

I used to have my attached to my comp desk which was alright, but it wasnt ideal seeing as my wife uses the computer as well. I didnt fancy having to remove it after every play.

I heard of the WSP, and bought it and i could not be more happy with it. I also use the DFGT and as my first ever wheel with the game i think it works wonderfully.

Edit: btw are you based in the states?. If so did you order via the us site?. because it speeds up the shipping considerably seeing as the company is based in Europe.
