my friend said he used a 524hp impreza with sports tires (i'm guessing it's the new model) and got 1'04.xxx on midfield. i always like a challenge, so i started up my ps2 and tried for below his time :ouch: i used my 522hp spec c (original turbo) and soft sports tires. i tried and tried and tried, must have done about 20 laps around midfield and the best time i could get was 1'12.648. i did everything possible, late brake, went around the corners as fast as the car would allow me, drove the smoothest line possible.

i doubt it that he could've beaten me by 8 seconds, he said he didn't even use nitros. i even checked duck's time around it in the spec c with medium sports tires and he must of gotten somthing like 1'14.xxx. is the guy lying or what? is it really possible to get a time like that?

Are you sure that it wasn't the Super Touring Impreza ?

RSS tires?
Nos? - That's possible.

somebody needs to try this, otherwise, ask for the video. :D

Which indicates that he is telling porkie pies and knows it...

The impreza is a great car but not THAT great :)

2 laps done trying for me and best is a 1'13.545 at the moment. So 1'04.xxx looks impossible.

Edit: Down to a 1'12.804.

I consider a "race car" fast if it'll get around Midfield under 1'10. Under 1'00 (in GT3) is reserved for LM's and Formula cars.
1'04, even with a video is a bit suspicious.
He may have meant 1'14....

midfield or midfield reverse?

Ok even with racing Mediums on I ran a 1'08.423, so 1'04.xxx is gonna be tough, maybe with soft tyres and the best GT4 racers can do it.

Edit: 1'08.311 Now

Ok I went onto Qualifying tyres and have just pulled a 1'05.558, so Going to tweak and tune it to see if I can get better, but I am sure with NOS it's an easy 1'04 as is...

Maybe the guy was using hard(s1) rear tires and soft(s3) front tires.

I'd call BS on sports tires, unlikely on racing without nitrous. I've gone 1':01.3xx with a 550hp TVR Griffith 500, but that was with nitrous and RSS tires. Just beat the time today, same equipment but a 950hp Viper GTS. That TVR is a killer on Midfield. :scared:

I am hopeless at tuning so I ain't gonna bother, but a 1'04 is possible without NOS using Qaulifing tyres.

I just raced 4 laps, with Cusco Advan Impreza - 311HP - 1100KG - Racing Soft, and the best i could do for now was: 1'11.545.. So that 1'04 something lap time, sounds amazing :dopey:

i think he means a 1'14,xx

ok... he's now saying he did it with racing tires (super-soft 5). so i guess it's possible. and it's midfield, not midfield reverse. he didn't mean 1'14.xxx, i already asked him that

i'll try it out tomorrow morning, everyone's sleeping now
BTW, what's qualifying tires?

Thats easy then man, wish some tweaking I got off a site I did a 1'03.5xx or something on soft tyres, no big deal.

The acceleration of the Impreza is a good factor for a good time. At the exit of corneling, acceleration is needed, so the Impreza does the work greatly. :)

Still doesn't beat my current Midfield champion in that horsepower range - Griffith 500 with a 1'01.7xx. Haven't found a ~550hp car that can come anywhere close.

it's possible... i put on the supersoft racing tires and got 1'05.xxx can't remember, i exited the race and went to main menu and forgot to look at the exact time

I used the 2002 subaru impreza sedan wrx sti and i put all the modifications on it and put sport soft tires on it and took it to midfield raceway and i did 20 laps and trhe best time i could get was 1'14.786 and that was with no nitrous. Now i know this is not a spec c but this car had 531 horsepower and i could only get that time. But then i used some nitrous and went for 2 laps and the best time i could get was 1'12.732! I am going to try the spec c soon but your friend was defintly lying to you unless he had a jet engine strapped to that thing than he could not get the time he says. Not with that car anyway! :grumpy: :yuck: 👎

Did you properly tune the suspension or does it handle like a boat?

he corrected him self and said he used super-soft tires. try that, i got 1'05.5xx

Then i went another 20 laps with the same wrx but now i put RSS (R5) tires or qualifying tires as there otherwise known all around. i also increased the spring rate a little and lowered the car all the way down. I also decreased the gear ratios auto setting to 14. On the last time attack i had the gear ratio auto setting on 17. The car started out on a setting of 11, to low for Midfield Raceway! I did no further modifications! So i did another 20 laps, and the best time i got not using any nitrous was 1'08.143, but it ran every lap of the 20 in the 1'08 second range! Then i used nitrous and the best lap time i got (using the same setup) was 1'06.113 wich is extremely fast! But as you can see he obviously had to use RSS tires and nitrous to get the lap time he got and not mention a killer setup because this car was pretty tuned and even had 531 horsepower in stead of his 524 horsepower. So i say this myth is BUSTED! :)

According to Gil anything that post a time quicker than 1'10 is only a race car or a super fast car. The WRX is neither of those except mabey a really fast car, but i tuned it and got a low as 1'06 so i guess this car is EXTREMELY FAST! :)

What exactly do you mean by orignal turbo, because i fully tuned a spec c and it only made 417 horsepower on the totally stock turbo. I had to put on a racing intercooler and a stage 3 turbo to get 524 horsepower with the oil change so theres no way u could have used the orignal turbo, unless you know somthimng i don't?

A lap time that I set:

1'03'715
Impreza WRX STI sp.C
Hp 522
With Nitrous
With Racing Super Softs
